    i either leave the screen open in small 16:9 or large 16:9 (usually the later), or i can run scope and force a 2.39 crop for the entire movie. plenty of "imax" footage is very watchable this way, sometimes improved even keeping the entire film scope vs having random scenes that are taller.

    Hey man! I'm wanting to do the same type of imax at home kind of a thing like you've got here. Any pointers? If I just buy a 16x9 screen, will the AR transition smoothly? Or will I have to mess with a projector setting to get it right. Cause I know 2:35 on a 16x9 screen will have bars on all four sides. Anyways, thanks for any help!

    I can not do a CIH screen due to immersion, I will have 16:9 content a lot of the time and the idea of a 150" CIH and a 113" 16:9 sounds awful. Currently I am planning on building a 138"x70" screen so I will have a 150" scope and a 143" 16:9. I would do taller for a bigger 16:9 but I don't think the rear row will see the bottom of the screen ha. I will have to play around a bit after the stage is built. 4 way masking is a must, I am not sure if I have the know how to automate it, I may just make manual masking panels.

    Do you feel like the velvet helped make your screens perceived brightness go up? I am designing my rooms final look and will be doing similar masking and have a ton of black velvet. My biggest concern is my JVC NX7s ability to light up a 150" 2.35:1 screen. I hope getting the room blacked out will help make it seem brighter.

    I contacted your speaker manufacturer and asked for the Frequency response graph of their floor-standing speakers that you own and show on your channel. Guess what? They sent me the FR of the horn. Not the compression driver and horn just the plastic horn. WTF? I asked for an impedance graph and I was told the speakers were "about 6 Ohms". Again WTF? They must be REALLY bad to hide that information from a potential buyer. I design and build my own speakers (then test them) so I know they are hiding something they don't want disclosed. IMO stay the H3ll away from them. Love your channel dude.

    Im working on my small wall now and wondering about drainage. Does your drain tube have holes all the way around it? If it has holes in the bottom doesn’t the water that gets in from the top just seep out the bottom of the tube? How do you end the tube? Does it just stay exposed on the end and dump out? Mine would have to go out into the yard so do I bury the end in gravel and put dirt over it so it’s not visible? Thanks

  • @aaromon43
    @aaromon43 Жыл бұрын

    the drain i put in (as seen in the video) has holes on one side of the tube, which you put facing the earth (the idea being if water accumulates it rises up into the tube and discharges out). i live on a hill so on both end-points the drain can discharge and gravity takes care of the rest. although that drain seen in the video has never had water flow through it. the retaining wall is holding up earth which is covered in asphalt (and sealed yearly), so water isn't getting down to the drain. and yes, if you're discharging into the yard i would just use crushed stone, they sell a specific kind for drainage. here's an updated picture i took earlier today: i.imgur.com/NxzLgPQ.png

    @@aaromon43 Ahhh. I thought water entered the tubing from the top so your video confused me. Thank you very much for such a quick reply. I hope to get that section of wall done tomorrow. Another question if you have time. This wall is extending out from the house then turning 90 degrees and running along the front of my deck. It will double as a sitting wall for under the deck. That section will separate the yard from the under deck patio. The yard is approximately 2 block rows higher than the patio surface. I get lots of water running down the yard and under the deck in the spring which is why I’m building the wall. Even though the wall is very short here should I address that water running towards the wall with drain tube also? A few years ago I sloped the yard up so the water would run to The side of the deck and around the side of the house in the spring. This has kept the area under my deck relatively dry. Can I just keep that sloped as is and not need the tubing? Thank you very much for your help.

    What's the point of 0:07 if you can watch it 0:45? same AR no? There are so many different ARs.. just make side sliders on top of 2.39 base! And you can have the optimal eye level height in all ARs

  • @aaromon43

    it matters, a lot. plenty of tv shows & movies are sloppily recorded with too much zoom or camera movement. with such a tall picture, the effect can be fatigue & motion sickness. for the right content, the larger 16:9 screen is killer (slower panning, zoomed out more--think documentaries, live music performances, etc.). i prefer scope for film but i love being able to choose which 16:9 size i want, if i want it.

  • @ginomoujik8488
    @ginomoujik84882 жыл бұрын

    @@aaromon43 interesting point! though the more square the picture is the less quality the content tends to be. lots of series come in 18:9 and 20:9 and there are some ultra wide AR like in Korine's Fourth Dimension :) Also some 'creative' directors have different ARs through out one film, which makes adapting a hassle. But I appreciate your neat job!
