    Good to see you posting again. While I was in ideas mode your vids were always a great inspiration and I’m happy to say my room is almost done! Painted black, 140” acoustic transparent screen, towers for my front stage and surrounds, SVS prime elevations for my 4 atoms and an Onkyo decoder & 2 x power amps.... oh the subs are 2 x 18” Dayton Audio subs in custom boxes and the projector is an Epson EH-TW9400. Gaming and movie nights are the bomb. Again cheers fir the inspiration as you built and made changes to yours... your vids had a lot to do with me deciding to go with the front stage behind the screen. All the best moving forward!

    Thanks for the update. Unhinged was great fun. Watch out on the second cap there is a price raise 2021 and it's steep!

    awful timing with christmas and a few other things going on, but i feel like it needs to happen now versus having to spend significantly more next year.

    @@aaromon43 Yeah. I think we''re going to see a lot of inflation in the home theater space here soon, between supply shock and just general monetary inflation. Home theater products are flying off the shelf right now and prices for components going up. Bought an amp this year and was talking to my dealer and he was saying sometimes he's waiting like three - four weeks just to get a Denon receiver in stock lol.

    Why are you ruling out the JVC? Seems like you have a great room for it. I understand going with the Epson in a brighter non light controlled room but I find it plenty bright in my light controlled room. Also, the JTR must be awesome. I’m pretty much at my endgame for a bit in my theater except for finishing out the subs. Had two hsu and two klipsch. Then I built a sub with a Dayton ultimax 18, with the plan to build a second. I’m close to starting the 2nd but there’s a nagging voice in my head that keeps me looking at scrapping the DIYs and going with two JTR. It’s just a lot of money for subwoofers, and I’m having trouble justifying it.

    re: jvc, i just like the bright image the epson offers. if i upgrade i think i'll try the 5050ub first. re: subs, my father has (2) jtr 4000ulf knock off cabinets and (2) jtr 2400ulf's (all using 1" mdf & 18" ultimax's). while he has plenty of output, it feels nothing like my captivator. here's a pic showing what they look like, a human for reference: imgur.com/Et6qtMy while the jtr appears to cost a lot on the surface, if you itemize what you're paying for the fi audio drivers are ~$800/ea (which you can't buy directly the same way jeff permanian does because they're custom spec'd, but you can get close), the baltic birch cabinetry is probably a few hundred or more, the speakerpower 4000w amp is $1300, plus labor, design, engineering, warranty, shipping, and having a turn-key product that other people in the wild own that you can read about and get opinions from other owners, etc. i don't think jeff is profiting much from his subs, could probably mark them up another 25-50% and still sell them easily. good luck with your journey!

    it's probably something like 80% movies, 20% music & tv shows. most of the time i'm just too lazy to go downstairs and watch tv, so i use my living room setup, and i mostly listen to music in my office upstairs.

    Is your room on a dedicated circuit?or many?

  • @aaromon43

    @aaromon43

    3 жыл бұрын

    yes, the room is on its own 50amp subpanel with (6) tandem 120v breakers for 12 circuits total. there are 5 dedicated circuits for subs (2 front, 3 rear), projector, main l/r amp, receiver, wall sconces, ceiling lights, etc. went a little overboard but when you are DIY why not, the cost is low. imgur.com/Lletpro

    for movies i couldn't be happier. for music i prefer a warmer/softer sound, but they're still pretty good. for the money they're probably very hard to beat.
