    Adding subs into the front wall will be the best thing you do for overall sound quality. Also, I went from a 3700 to a 5050UB in a velvet bat cave. There is NO comparison. More pixels, much better black levels, P3 color. For your set up you wouldn’t run with a color filter and could still get 84.5% P3 color volume and still have great light output. That is if you care at all about watching 4K content 😉

    I used Epson projectors for years then bought my first JVC three years ago and never looked back. I have black walls, ceiling, etc and the contrast on the JVC is next level. So much so that I watched many movies I had not seen in years because it was so much better on the JVC.

    Hi mate. Great setup. A tip for you if you are experiencing a lack of bass feeling in your front row as I was. Rather than overload with subs. Build a low platform about an inch high for your front row to sit on. Make it safe but not over stiff. It will act as a passive transducer. Worked wonders for me specially with mid to low bass.

    It has a level of "violence" you just cant find in other products. That should be JTR's new strap line ha ha ha. Hope you're ok buddy, I know its been a challenging year especially what you've been through. Nice to see you back on the tube and don't second guess your decision, you've already made the sensible decision by not pulling the trigger on the x3 Caps, but now investing in two....which I can only imagine will sound beasting. Take care of yourself and stay safe 👍🏽

    Hey Jonathan, Question for you love the channel by the way . Does room size affect the size of subwoofer you select ? My room is 15x12 with 7 1/2 ceilings I’d love a cap 4000 but I don’t have the room . So I’m looking at psa 18 ipals or rythmik fv18s bug do you think that would be to much for my room or would something smaller be better maybe even sealed ?

  • @aaromon43

    you can't have too much subwoofer, but you can definitely have too little. i'd rather have something working effortlessly with a ton of headroom when needed than to be happy with what you have but have to work the sub hard to get it, if that makes sense? i'm sure some people would have been thrilled at the amount of bass i had in my room with my old pair of rythmik fv15's, but this hobby is very much like chasing the feeling of getting pushed back in your seat by a powerful car. once you experience it, you chase that feeling.. same with powerful LFE. your room is ~1350 cubic feet and mine is 1800. i would seriously consider looking at a pair of cap 2400's, fv18's, or some 18's from psa. think you will be very happy with that! and ty for the compliments, i love sharing this hobby with other people.

    @@aaromon43 Thanks bud I appreciate that. Yeah I hear you that makes perfect sense . This is a very addictive hobby for sure I love it. If I had the funds I would absolutely go for the cap 2400a but I think I’m going to go with 2 fv18s the servo technology seems very interesting to me. When you had your rthymiks how do you feel the mid bass was ?

    Maybe it's just my area, but here movers are SO CHEAP. Even ones with insurance (which I'd obviously recommend). For a few hundred bucks you could just hire some movers to help you get that thing in the room when they arrive. Obviously would have to watch the tracking (and pray for decent weather).

    Jon, stop chasing the subwoofer gremlins, you've been ahead of the game for years. Instead, save up for a JVC NX5/NX7 projector. Bring your video up to a totally new level and be able to watch 4K content, with rock solid black levels on that large screen. Also, did you follow through with PSA and get those surrounds and rear surrounds we talked about? I know I'm an enabler, but I just feel like I'm helping. :)

    i only grabbed a 2nd cap4000 now because of the $500 price increase. for something i know i would buy in the future it made sense to buy it now and save the $. projector & surround upgrades are next for sure. edit - additionally the 2nd cap is not for more headroom, instead it's to reduce the workload overall on each. the extra headroom is not really needed.

    Just wait for the next generation of JVC 4k projectors. The current ones are a couple years old now, so the new models are probably coming soon. Don't get the Epson. Just don't. You need as much contrast as you can get in that room. The Epson is a torch optimized for rooms without light control. You need deep black levels and contrast. That it what the human eye prefers. Contrast is BY FAR the most important factor when it comes to picture quality.

  • @aaromon43

    dad has his eyes set on the epson, would be fun at least to compare a $700 projector to one that costs $3000 and see how much of a difference there is (or isn't). but you're right, jvc looks like the endgame for dedicated rooms like this (nx5 probably?).

    Did you end up going back to a 16×9 screen? Would love to see how you employ the masking.

  • @aaromon43

    @aaromon43

    3 жыл бұрын

    so the story goes i had a 140" 16:9, then i switched to the largest 2.39 screen that would fit (147"), but then i added back the missing height to make it 16:9 (157"). so the scope image is the same (max width), but i have the ability to "open" the screen to max height for variable aspect ratio movies (anything with "imax" footage), tv shows/movies that are 16:9, and with scope movies i use the masking panels for inky black letterbox bars. and yeah i can definitely make a video to discuss how i did that to help you & others that are considering doing the same.

    with the 2 subs next to eachother the drivers will be coupled. it's also the only space that works in the room for the captivators. i plan on adding shallow/tall DIY 18's behind the screen when the weather warms up to balance the room better.
