Jonathan, have you looked into tactile transducers? The good ones provide extremely convincing feel. I have the Clark Synthesis (Gold series) and running them with Klipsch Forte Heritage speakers. Currentyly, I don't even have subwoofers, but it sounds and feels like I have one. When installed and calibrated properly they provide a convincing tactile feel, even music like kick drums sound and feel real. I do plan on adding dual subs in the near future, but it's amazing how far transducers can take you. They have several different models and I think the Clark Synthesis Titanium might be up your alley.

Jonathan, once you decide on the path you're going to undertake sit down and enjoy what you have. The HT market will always make you feel less than content with what you have. I've been there myself. .having a theatre room that was constantly being changed rather than enjoyed.

kevin weithers for what it's worth i do use the room quite a bit, probably 2-3x/week i'll go down and watch a movie at night. in the ~year i've had the projection & sub setup down there i've put 600 hours on the projector so that's roughly the usage i have given the subs. that comes out to about 50hrs/month, or 1.6hrs/day. yeah i'd say i use the room.

Hi Johnathan, I just stumbled upon your video today by chance. You have a very nice home theater, I can see you’ve put a lot of thought & effort into its design & layout. You mention in this video that you are looking for more in the performance of your subwoofers. This, I’ve noticed, is becoming a bit of a theme amongst some lately. I highly recommend you take a moment to research a company named Harbottle Audio. Their approach to designing drivers is the complete opposite from the industry standard. In a nutshell these are the Formula-1 race cars of subs...literally! Check out the TSAD18vs, UH18vU or GUJ18vxr. I promise you won’t regret it :) Cheers!!

First of all thanks for your videos. I'm doing the same screen build as you are and was seeking more information when I stumbled across your videos. Mississippi man is also helping me as well. I'll just throw my $.02 in and and say that I think you should install bass shakers in each of the seats. Do not buy the butt kickers! Get on parts express and buy the cheapest bass shakers on there that you mount inside the seats and do 2 for each seat. It really is crazy how you can feel the movie and it takes the experience to a whole new level! And the best part about it is they are super cheap. A lot cheaper than how much you are losing by selling all of your subs. Also you might consider going DIY on your subs and then buy a couple of Behringer iNuke NU6000DSP amplifiers. Right now I am in the middle of my new build which consist of 11 mono block amplifiers, 2 iNuke 6000DSP Amps, Marantz AV7705 processor, all of my speakers are Bower and Wilkins, Sony 385ES True 4K Projector and then of course 2 Amplifiers for the bass shakers inside the seating powering all 8 shakers. If you're looking for getting that "feeling of bass" You will truly get it with the bass shakers. Some people don't like them but it seems like you and I have the same kind of taste. I was very hesitant to buy and install bass shakers but man I am SSSOOO happy I did. I just went with the cheapest ones I could find as a package deal on parts express. I believe It was around $600 for all 8 shakers and the 2 amps. The subs Im running are 8 Stereo Integrity 18 inch Subs (they dont make the ones I have anymore) with custom-built boxes. Look up a thread called Marty sub FAQ on AVS and you will get all the designs you need and then maybe buy some Dayton audio 18 inch subs and find a couple of iNuke 6000 amps. Sorry for the paragraph Just trying to help out a fellow home theater enthusiasts. It may seem like a lot of work but trust me its well worth is and will save you a bunch of money in the long run. Also I have a Epson 4030 that id sell. Barely used and does not have a single scratch on it. Still has the original bulb which has at least 75% of its life left. Also comes with a spare Brand-new bulb plus the original remote, mount, Box and all the paperwork. Just throwing that out there. I know you said you wanted the 5040 but man this thing will keep up with my Sony 4K all day.. I've got a bunch of images I can send you that I took that show how amazing the picture is. After watching it and then switching to the Sony I really thought about just returning the Sony because the Epson has such a great picture. Anyways good luck and thanks for all your videos they have helped me a lot! keep them coming!

How many fv15hp can you fit from left to right? Rythmik and avs don’t want to admit this but dual fv15hp is much better than one fv25. I’ve been doing this at a high level for 20 years and most people are confused with the bass frequencies that vibrate you or hit your chest hard. Below 25 is highly overrated, and a hyped. marketing ploy. Do a test tone at 16hz then 40hz then 80hz. Then tell me which one shakes you the most. Good luck to you and you’ll learn fast.

@@timfloyd9397 I had dual fv15 and multiple fv25. The fv25's are much more capable than their single 15 brethren. What don't you like about the jtr captivators? Do you listen to music or watch movies? I use my room for movies I don't care about music usage. And I don't agree as the stuff that shakes the seats is all in the teens and lower.

2 fv15hp has more output and less port noise then 1 fv25. Amp on fv15hp isn’t as powerful as fv25 but it is delivering more per driver. 6 fv15hp would have similar output to 4 fv25. Now I know you said it wasn’t all about output, that it was about achieving bass in all frequencies. I do movies only in my movie room and music only in my music room. Cap 4000 are nice but expensive and really ugly with horrible resale value. If you don’t care about max spl it’s the wrong sub for you. It’s all about how loud you can go. If you want the deepest frequencies you need sealed anyway. Call mark at seaton. Had a couple submersive hp and was very nice. Anyway instead of just disagreeing on what frequencies shake you harder you should have a open mind. Play 15-20hz at 115-120db then play 50hz at 115-120db. You’ll understand first hand. I’ve experienced 140db at 50hz at its an experience to say the least. I’ve also have measured over 125db at 10hz and room rattles and things shake of course with no auditory response. Obviously we can’t hear it but you can feel it. 50 hz is like the room is going to explode! If you only had fv15 that was probably a bad comparison. Maybe dss subs would work too. Had a mariana 24” and end was deep.

@@timfloyd9397 i had both (2) fv15hp & (3) fv25hp and while the fv15hp was impressive the fv25 was definitely a step up--but if you found the opposite to be true i won't argue the point. i don't like bass > ~35hz, it's too boomy/punchy for me (to each their own). what i don't understand is your comment about lower resale value with the jtr subs? jtr seems to be held in a higher regard than rythmik, although less people seem to know about the company so maybe that's the downside? size is obviously another negative as most people don't want to see something so big & ugly lol. i'm chasing mid 20hz & lower and i want my seating & body to shake. i think (3) cap 4000's will get me there. if not i can always add more.

Next level? If beyond subs like the Rythmics...look into a DBOX setup. That is THE final step I think if you have the coin. They move your HT seats "in 3D space". Up, down, forwards and back...to the action in the film. Not too many HT guys have it for obvious reasons. Oddly though, even guys who've who've spent over $100k..maybe they haven't heard of DBOX tech...Look for KZread videos talking about it then look for a dealer.. Why are you selling the subs?

I know what you are going through with your theater. The constant need to do something “new”. I’ve stepped away from the forums, home theater sites and almost anything which can spark that desire to upgrade or make a change. I’ve even started unsubscribing from my one hundred + home theater related KZread channels. Brother, you don’t need new subs. If you require extra rumble, get some butt kickers. I can bet if you measure the frequency response of all 3 subs, they are most likely hitting single digits at 100 dB or close to it. There will come a time when you just need to say NO. I’m preaching to myself. Upgrade-itis is a disease.

Yeah, you are already hitting reference and then some with the subs you have now. Keep what you have. If you upgraded, the real upgrade would be to get some smaller high output subwoofers that you could place better for more even bass response in the room. All of them piled up in the back wall there isn't ideal. I think JTR is the wrong direction. I agree with NewYorkBlack that you should either keep your subwoofers you have now, since, how much louder and lower do you want to go? Enough to blow your ear drums? You are already there if you are using those subwoofers with any regularity at high capabilities. If it was me and I HAD to upgrade, I'd get 4x JL Audio Fathoms and some butt kickers. You'd be able to hit reference AND THEN SOME, they'd sound better than what you have, and they'd be small enough to place them properly for the acoustics of the room. Run the butt kickers at a low output for best effect, you should also EQ your subwoofers after the subwoofer output on the receiver since you don't want to EQ the butt kickers.

@@tb2324 That's why I think the best suggestion is NewYorkBlacks of just getting some butt kickers since those can actually make something really tactile happen which seems to be what he is looking for. That's what the Dolby cinemas do. Trick is to keep them low so that it really feels like the shakes come from the subs rather than telling that there is a transducer there.
