Love your channel Jonathan. It's all about the journey of building and tweaking. I'm into a lot of the DIY side myself. Well done!

I plan on putting my 6050 as far back as my room will allow to better contain/create distance from me of the noise. On eco or normal it really isn't bad, on high, it's noticeable, and since I plan to sit in Digital Cinema most of the time (for HDR anyway) for the color filter to slide into place to get better color gammit (better DCI-P3 coverage then the tv I am getting actually) I might need to pop that baby into high regularly, and I want some distance between us, though maybe that's not the best approach? I mean I'm still likely only talking 16-18 feet from the screen either way. I also dont want to sit under the projector, I want it unobtrusively behind me, and I plan to put it outside my rear curtains and sound panals with just a hole big enough for the light path anyway to also further cut down on noise intrusion and light bleed.

i think i'm spoiled with the 6050 now re: fan noise versus the 2150 as it was MUCH louder, and not variable like the 6050 (e.g., dim scene, fan quiets down substantially, bright scene and it gets louder as it speeds up). i hear you though, it's nice to have the projector further back in the room versus directly over your head as the fan noise can be so distracting. i need to run my 6050 on high lamp with this 18' throw distance & 0.7 gain material, but i don't mind. also, if you run on eco too frequently there is a very high chance your UHP lamp will have ark wander, where the bulb will flicker between eco & high lamp endlessly, it's a thing and not specific to epson but any ultra high pressure lamp (i had it happen to my 2150 when i initially used it in eco mode, and a friend with the epson hc4000 has the same issue). that issue will never happen on high lamp mode btw. and yes a hush box is probably what you want if you want to further reduce the noise from the projector. a lot of other people have thought the same and there's lots of builds to reference if you go that route. honestly though with the 6050 on high lamp, probably ~6-7' away from my ears while watching movies i rarely notice that it's on any more. yes eco is quieter but with the dynamic fan speed and listening to most movies between -8db & -12db, i rarely notice the noise . good luck with your builds & projects!

Very nice! Room looks awesome - it's really coming together nicely! How is the fan noise from that Epson if you are sitting in the back room watching? Any concerns or do you even notice it at all? Thanks!

How long do you use your projector? Even back in 2150. How do you clean your projector? filters, etc. Can you show it to your next video? :)

It’s fun watching your journey. I’m looking at getting a 6050 as well. What are your initial thoughts on the 6050?

thanks! re: 6050, it's the best projection picture i've ever seen. however, make sure you're getting it for the right reasons. if i had a shorter throw distance & a higher gain screen, i would have considered the nx5 or nx7, but neither of those offer the lumen output i need. for ~$3500 the 6050 is incredible. the more i watch it the more i realize i should have upgraded long ago.

I like the setup. Just wondering what your room dimensions are. I also have very low ceilings.

I just watched a lot of your videos. I'm currently planning my room with blue tape representing the screen. 16x21x7.5 room with single row at 13' eyeballs (kids play area behind). Struggling with 2.35 vs 16:9. I'll be 50/50 of 16:9 content to scope movies. How do you feel about your 16:9 content on the new 147" scope screen? You went through a few of benefits of 16:9 screen in your 140 screen video. you feel like you're missing those things on your 147 scope screen?

i have the largest 16:9 screen my wall can take, which is just shy of 160", but with scope masking panels it's ~148". it's really the best of both worlds and i don't see myself ever changing it again. for some 16:9 content like nolan movies, documentaries, live concerts, and SOME tv shows it's incredible having the taller image. for some fast moving 16:9 content it's too large, and i either reduce the zoom on the projector or watch upstairs on my TV, while still having the widest/largest possible scope screen. i feel like i'm not missing out on either aspect ratio now. TLDR if you go large 16:9, make sure you have black velvet masking panels!

@@aaromon43 thanks for the response. it's all about the tradeoffs. the fast moving 16:9 content is my biggest concern. was that sort of content watchable on your 140" 16:9 at 13' or was that still too big?
