    @@EK6O3O Not everyone has room for a 140" screen. You can buy a 100"+ 4k tv for just over £2000, which is cheaper than this setup. Projectors are great but the fact is TV's are getting bigger and cheaper. When I bought my first Projector, a large TV was 65", now that's the norm.

    Wow, apparently motorized tension is a must for for short throw projectors. I originally wrote a comment trolling you asking if you hit your white screen with a baseball bat to make it that wavy. Then I realized short throw projectors are way more attected by any waves in the screen. Yikes. Well, i definitely learned something today. Also, i never knew there were floor mounted projectors screens. Combining the short throw projector and floor mounted screen into one box base is awesome! Great video

    Simply put this grey screen sends back less light BUT 100% of that signal is polarised that makes image so vivid and properly coloured. We are only loosing reflected distorted light that wasn't straight and was introducing blurring. Less is more 💥

    in my personal opinion the sixe and brightness of a ust projector is so mind blowing the alr screen isnt necessary until it redues significantly in price. for context i have been using the xgimi aura 4k straight on to a wall that is painted grey using a high gloss black mixed with a matt white. had this set up for 8 months as my only tv. everyone is blown away. i pull the curtains at the same times of day i had to with my old tv and the size and quality make up for any lack of brightness in the daytime. paint costs about $35 and is already a significant upgrade to a white wall.

    I believe the window behind the white screen is what's causing the distortion. The pressure cause the window isn't completely sealed is slightly moving the fabric, not to mention the heat variations. Either that or you intentionally have a fan on to move the fabric cause you can definitely make out the fabric moving in the darker portions of the video.

  • @TrendingReviews

    Window is closed and air tight, and definitely no fans on in the room. I think because of it free hanging from the ceiling mount causes it to move slightly, but I highly doubt any of these are causes. I have used many projectors (including laser ones) on this screen with no distortion - you can see this from my many projector reviews in a playlist on my channel.

    To be pedantic, that's a CLR screen, it rejects light from the ceiling/above. An ALR screen rejects light from everywhere except the projector. ALR for UST projectors are few, but the Formovie fresnel screen is actually ALR. ALR screens also exist for normal projectors and are beneficial, but they're a little less effective since they can't reject light from above. CLR screens that aren't motorized can be had for $450 or so, Wemax makes affordable ones that aren't as good as the best, but vastly better than a matte white.

    Gain is meaningless when projecting images. What's important is reflected light into a specific viewing angle. Ambient light rejection is the flip side of incident light reflection. Good matte white is not cheap It's a medicre projection surface for a seated audience because it scatters more than 90% of the incident light outside the viewing area. Glass beaded surface screens were reflective and returned light very close to the path of incidence, making them more efficient but with a limited viewing angle. ALR is a compromise between these two. Examples of more affordable ALR are SCREENPRO fixed frame 92" T Prism UST $800 aliexpress SCREENPRO100" Motorized Floor Self-Rising 8K ALR Screen ~$1100

    I'm wondering if a laser projector with a good screen could be used for outdoor advertising during the daylight hours instead of a digital LED video wall/screen/display. Would it be bright enough in daylight/sunlight. Not that we have much of that in the UK lol

  • @TrendingReviews

    @TrendingReviews

    4 ай бұрын

    Possibly - but it would have to be a 4K native Triple Laser UST projector with a very high brightness level, but even then, it would be hard to find one thats suitable for outdoor conditions, because you risk getting dust and debris go into the projector, so probably won't be recommended. In direct sunlight (with what ever little we get in the UK), it could be hard to see still, especially from a distance.

    Information in this video is wrong unfortunately. ALR screens do not give you a brighter image, they actually have the opposite effect. They reject light from above (ceiling lights usually) and are innately gray to help with the black levels in a moderately lit room. If you are in a moderately dark room you should use a neutral gain screen as it will increase the lifespan of your projector since you can use a lower brightness setting. In extremely dark rooms or when using a LED projector you should use a higher gain screen. ALR screens in a dark environment will have less performance than a standard projector screen. the contrast on these low gain screens will be worse in such a situation as compared to a standard screen. The viewing angles will be slightly be worse. Color accuracy will be slightly worse as well. ALR screens are useful in the circumstance they were made for, however they are not a replacement for standard white screens which perform better in darker rooms and theaters. The white screen in your video is made from cloth and from the looks of it polyester based, of course it will not look good as compared to a screen that cost anywhere from 5-10 times to make.

    Your matte white screen isn't mounted level. That's why it's wavy.

    That ALR fabric. Looks suspiciously like the reflactive strip fabric they put on hi vis clothing. Aslo sold as progector screens on ebay for 20 quid 🤣.

    Yeah... those prices are beyond outrageous even for the most basic UST ALR screen. Totally not worth using a projector as a day time TV IMO. I'd much rather stick with a short/long throw projector and a basic screen in the DARK. Which projectors have always done their best at. Regular TVs for day time and Projectors for night viewing.

    No way I could pay 1300 for a screen just can see where the money is in the material to warrant the the cost

    All CLR UST screens are about that price for that size. All with the sawtooth pattern that is.
