00:04 Do you need a screen for your home cinema setup? 01:43 Using a stretched or tension screen is important to avoid distorted images. 03:23 The cheapest motorized screen available in the market is a 135-inch matte white screen. 05:15 Breathable paints are healthier than water-based paints. 07:01 Consider using a big screen if you have a large window area without walls 08:41 ALR screens work best for long throw projections and are not necessary if you have a white wall 10:23 Tension screens are more expensive but create better Reflections. 12:10 Understanding the different types of screens and their impact on video brightness and contrast.

I purchased the new Benq HT2060 LED DLP projector that can accept 4k signals and downrez's to 1080p, but maintains the HDR metadata intact. I had some ppl tell me you need to get a screen to see the difference, but just like you've shown here, I projected the image into a large wall that was painted light tan with a glossy finish, and bumpy surface. Fed 4K Bluray of Titanic and Nope and I was shocked to see how sharp and filmic the images looked and didn't notice the bumps on my wall. I thought, first, didn't need to get a 4k projector since I have an 4k OLED, second, I didn't need a screen since I've researching to get one.

I just bought a screen, and it definitely helps the experience. It was a little brighter and smoothed out the image more than the rough texture of the wall. What made it more worth it is the owner on the screen only wanted $50 for it. It's a 94 inch by 110 inch with a good quality screen that costs way more than $50

Thanks for the video. I use a plain white wall painted in satin white. It's not special projector paint, just decorator paint. I always wondered how much of an improvement a pop-up screen or a wall mounted screen would be. Personally, I would prefer not to have a screen, and I certainly wouldn't want a frame on my wall. When not watching my projector, my wall is just a normal wall. My projector is a Xgimi Horizon Pro 4K, and my projection image size is 109 inches, so for me after watching this I have determined no screen required.

Hello! New follower here! Really appreciate your very thorough comparison and explanation. I am currently considering to put a projector that shoots towards my ceiling above my bed. I have recently come across a certain type of paint products called projector screen paint. They are supposed to make the final texture of your wall similar to that of a projection screen. An example brand is Paint On Screen. Do you think you can give us a review on this? Maybe compare the difference in finish between a screen painted wall vs a normal oil/water-based painted wall vs a white or ALR screen? Thank you!

if you go gray color tones it wont effect your color grade only effect your contrast your blacks will be darker and also you'll be loosing your whites little bit. For darker colors you need brighter projectors . in the future maybe I can create tutorial for that. if you have very light colors that wont effect too much but many professional projector models have calibrations for that and you can adjust to your wall color to get best as possible.

kzread.info/dash/bejne/dGGAuMWfndDLd6g.htmlsi=hnI9j3gAZpKlAs2- can you catch this with cheap paint. it is an advice but not the right one I guess . if you are going to open up room lights regular paint wont solve anything and if you paint dark you loose brightness. You might get contrast increase but you will lose brightness so if you go cheap there will be drawbacks kzread.info/dash/bejne/oqNqksOOZKzPlto.htmlsi=iU2fkxIoy907E_kL with this product you can have some color problems and very narrow angle but it will be better than your cheap paint. I am not against custom highend projector paints by the way but for regular paint it is not worth the effort in my opinion. I think there are lot of alternatives until the paint which is modular and better to show in living room. for Man Cave Seperate rooms you can do what you like. But when you are messing up living room lady of the house will be pissed believe me 😊
