    Amazing! I just bought a whole bunch of velvet and other supplies so I can follow your example! Thanks for the inspiration!

    That is exactly what I am envisioning for my theater I am planning. Nice work! I would love to come up with some sort of motorized version of that, but maybe its more work than its worth. Love to see a demonstration of changing modes with the projector with different content.

    if i had more space in the room around the screen to hide actuators, rails, motors, etc., i would 100% motorize it. i actually have room to the left of the screen in the basement and behind the screen, however to the right of the screen is a framed wall against masonry block so no options there. i've thought about automating the masking back when i just had 2 panel (top/bottom) too, but kept running into problems or challenges. the manual method is usable & zero maintenance at least. and yeah i'll record a video using the lens memory too with the masking.

    Ok,you've got some cool videos and ideas. But, I'd like to request, if I may, a video dedicated to your 210T's. I mean just them, no screen no rack no lighting no couches just speakers. From build quality to performance to sound quality to comparisons to other speakers in the 2-3 thousand dollar range. What are they missing? Is it satisfying listening to them play music without subs? Etc. Etc. Please and thank you, not much info out on them, would be greatly appreciated! Maybe even sound demos even if it doesn't accurately represent what you're hearing.

    Hey man! I'm wanting to do the same type of imax at home kind of a thing like you've got here. Any pointers? If I just buy a 16x9 screen, will the AR transition smoothly? Or will I have to mess with a projector setting to get it right. Cause I know 2:35 on a 16x9 screen will have bars on all four sides. Anyways, thanks for any help!

    Do you feel like the velvet helped make your screens perceived brightness go up? I am designing my rooms final look and will be doing similar masking and have a ton of black velvet. My biggest concern is my JVC NX7s ability to light up a 150" 2.35:1 screen. I hope getting the room blacked out will help make it seem brighter.

    U should make some to sell. really good stuff how u figure out the zise of the 2.35 did u thow a movie in 2.35 and get the mesurememts from the black bars on top and bottom? Was it the same for 16.9?

    hah thanks, now that's an idea! yeah basically once you know the size of your scope bars just build the masking panels to size. the left/right were far more difficult to create the way i have this setup where the left/right friction fit between the top/bottom panels when all 4-way masking is in use, might be a better way to do it though, this was only version 1.0 ;)

    Hi mate just finished making my spandex screen did the same way as you. But I think I might of made a mistake as I can see the lines running through the material when the projector is on do you think I have over stretch it ?

  • @aaromon43

    @aaromon43

    2 жыл бұрын

    yes definitely overstretched the material, i did the same the first time i tried attaching the spandex to the frame. you need to pull the material just enough to take the wrinkles out and no more. what size screen are you creating and which aspect ratio? the 60" tall material can go up to about 140" 16:9 max. not sure how you attached the material (i used staples), but just release everything and start over, and make sure to stretch the material an even amount around the frame as you go.

    @@thewheelworld9158 sorry did not see your follow up question. yeah i would pull both the back & front material off and re-apply them, a pain i know all too well! just go slow and watch the weave as you stretch the material onto the frame.

    What's the point of 0:07 if you can watch it 0:45? same AR no? There are so many different ARs.. just make side sliders on top of 2.39 base! And you can have the optimal eye level height in all ARs

    it matters, a lot. plenty of tv shows & movies are sloppily recorded with too much zoom or camera movement. with such a tall picture, the effect can be fatigue & motion sickness. for the right content, the larger 16:9 screen is killer (slower panning, zoomed out more--think documentaries, live music performances, etc.). i prefer scope for film but i love being able to choose which 16:9 size i want, if i want it.

    @@aaromon43 interesting point! though the more square the picture is the less quality the content tends to be. lots of series come in 18:9 and 20:9 and there are some ultra wide AR like in Korine's Fourth Dimension :) Also some 'creative' directors have different ARs through out one film, which makes adapting a hassle. But I appreciate your neat job!
