    The subs are so big I thought they were a second row of seats! Haha! Awesome set up! Ive watched vids where people will say that screen is too big. Thanks for the video because I think its perfect and now all those negative comments I read on other vids about seating too close and screen is too big just went in the "hater bin". My room is about the same size and I feel good about my future build thanks to you!

    Man O man, Spandex is such a good screen fabric. I love the floor to ceiling look when it comes to cinemas. I just published a video you might like where I just made my 180" 16:9 screen frame. I'd love to use spandex on it but I really want to look though the fabric when there is no movie playing so you can see the speakers... as bit of a feature. But I might change my mind yet and go with spandex lol. Anyway bud good video and awesome cinema :)

    Very nice 👍🏻 is there a reason to run ur subs in the back of the room? Of course being as big as they are but Do u think u could benefit by putting subs behind the faux wall in front as well as the speakers? Trying to figure out a system build for mine and Just curious on if it’s better for subs to be in front as well vs the back of the room.

  • @aaromon43

    @aaromon43

    the rear of the room is the only place for the subs (i only have about 1 foot of depth behind the screen). bass is omni-directional, additionally having the subs close to the seating provides the most tactile energy (nearfield vs farfield). i'd say most people run their subs flanking their l/r speakers because it's aesthetically pleasing and has little or nothing to do with best room placement.

    Hey Jonathan, very nice. Question for you. I have the same subs you had previously - dual FV15HP 's. Did Enrico advise you to run them with all 4 ports open or is it better to plug 2 of the ports for more extension? Thanks.

  • @aaromon43

    @aaromon43

    6 жыл бұрын

    kevin weithers you can do either. Both ports open yields louder bass from Port tune upwards which I used until I tried 1 port open. It drops Port tune to 12hz or so, and gives more tactile feeling. Only negative is too much port air causing port chuffing. Make sure if you change port config to change amp settings too. Reference the amp settings diagram that came with the subs.

  • @aaromon43

    @aaromon43

    6 жыл бұрын

    kevin weithers 1 port, no question. while stuff above 20hz is great, there's something special about really low tactile bass. i actually just found out that my current subs have a 2nd port tune at ~9hz (down from 12.5) that i can achieve if i plug one of the three vents on each. waiting on rythmik to send me some port plugs so i can try that LOL

  • @aaromon43

    @aaromon43

    Russell Borrego it should be fine. the only drawback to spandex is that with white over black the gain of the screen is really dark so you need more lumens to compensate.

    Jonathan Lindhome thanks. Wasnt sure if the non-shiney spandex was truly non-shiney or not. The Optoma I have yet to unbox is 3500 lumens... Figuring between that, and the close proximity to the screen? Hopefully lower gain won't matter as much.

  • @aaromon43

    @aaromon43

    6 жыл бұрын

    Russell Borrego nearly any other material you might try and use for a screen will have a much higher gain than spandex. what i would do is order a small amount from spandexworld (maybe a yard?) and temporarily secure it where your screen will go and see how it looks.
