    It’s really looking great! People don’t realize how much time and effort it takes making a theater room when you do it yourself. Your Videos showing the “one step at a time” approach are fantastic! I have been working on mine for 15 years and as the sound formats changed so has the positioning of the speakers..... over and over and over again! It’s going to be an amazing room when your done but remember your never really done. Great videos!

    The problem of screen reflections is the screen is too low plus the light carpet in front of the screen not the walls as I see it.

    I did a budget system. I use a uhd 51 and a 5.1. 2 atmos with qchoustic 5.1 and 2 yamaha ceiling speakers. I use a denon 2600h. My room was white. I found myself having to use some velvet for a top and bottom bars on movies and the picture could sometimes get lost in dark screens instead of confined in the black bar frrme. Now I felt my picture quality was exelent with white walls. I painted the walls dark grey recently and wow can't believe how much the contrast and blacks improve. It's not. Quite like a open window on a dull day difference but it near that level of improvement. Doctor sleep at being has a little girl being eaten lol sh was always slightly faded. Not any more. And some circles that appear before the opening credit in doctor sleep has loads of circles that used to just be red. Now you can see the texture and instantly realise its carpet. I am godsmacked at how much better going dark grey is, I don't even us curtains any more. I can only imagine that velvet black everywhere will be like wow. But I live in small flat so I won't be doing that. Im a little jelly

    What's up Jonathan? Great video man! The black fabric is going to pull you right into the massive screen. It would be nice if you could do a video now showing us the reflections on the walls and ceiling. Then do another video when it's done. Just an idea I had but either way you are making great content. I am really enjoying your videos. Good luck with this next adventure. Looking forward to seeing in when it's done man.

    This looks great. I can’t wait to hear about your masking system solution. You’ve got a new subscriber so I’m alerted as soon as that video is posted. One thing I was thinking for my DIY masking system was magnets to mount the system to my screen’s border.

    Michael Lauruska thanks! yes i've seen a lot of people have an easier time figuring out a custom masking solution that have manufactured screens with metal frames because they can use some kind of magnetic setup. masking might be a little easier if i added a frame to my screen but i don't want to give up any screen size to pull that off. i'll find a different way to do it.

    Hi Jonathan, you keep upping your game.. well done. I, for one, have always thought you made the perfect choice with that screen size and aspect ratio. The masking and velvet walls will be the icing on the cake. Can you please post the link for the fabric from Amazon? Thanks.

    Looks already quite good! Is there a reason you didn't put the speakers on the wall following the dolby specification(s)?

  • @commanderrussels2612
    @commanderrussels26125 жыл бұрын

    For the side surrounds you might want to put those behind the door, a little behind you rather than in front of you. They should really be directly beside you but I realize there is a door there. The surround backs should be just above ear level too according to Dolby, so maybe lower those as long as you are doing this work. Also consider a direct speaker rather than a dipole. Room looks great. Are those heights RSL? Keep the updates coming, what a great channel. Have fun.,

  • @aaromon43

    Commander Russels i definitely agree about switching the (bipole?) speaker out with a direct speaker--would like to eventually get matching psa surrounds. not sure what you mean by RSL? and yes may lower the rear surrounds a touch more but even as is the rears & side surrounds are now lower and more in line with eachother. and thanks for the feedback! really just making these videos as more of a progression documentary but happy if others enjoy watching the journey.

    RSL is a speaker company, I thought you were using their in-ceilings. Kinda looks like theirs. One thing with those horn loaded PSA speakers is just be careful with your ears. They play so loud so easily that you lose track of how loud you have it.

  • @aaromon43

    @@commanderrussels2612 yeah my towers can get dangerously loud, i'm surprised they don't come with a warning label honestly. i like that they have so much dynamic range and are effortless to power though. they have the exact cinema "sound" i was looking for though so for the application it's a great fit. for music they're okay (really depends on the type of music you're listening to). if i wanted a serious 2.1 stereo setup i'd go with a much warmer speaker (ascend acoustic sierra towers with RAAL, paradigm signature series, something like that). i really don't use the room to just sit down and listen to music so it's not a big concern for me. the reason i didn't go with a speaker like mentioned above is because i'd have probably vaporized them already. it's fun to crank on an action scene in a movie and not have a care in the world about damaging any of the equipment.

    PSA and JTR are just some guys working out of warehouses, they aren't big enough to worry about the legal like JBL or someone does. I know what you mean about cinema sound, that crunchy midrange that alludes to theaters. Doesn't sound good for music, but, it sounds great for movies. I agree with your choices for music, those are booth good options, and for sure know what you mean about worrying about if the volume is going to send some dome tweeter onto my lap. I'm getting older though and don't listen as loudly anymore. I used to have some JTR T8s but my gf put her foot down so now I'm back to my old M&K S-150s which I do the job well in my current volumes. I always wanted to try Procella but never had an opportunity to hear those and would have to wait for a dedicated room to do a AT screen for that to pass the significant other factor anyways.

    Wow your theater is compromised as hell. You ran your Top-Front and Top-Middle in-series? What the heck are you thinking? Why didnt you just upgrade to a 13.1 channel or higher processor or receiver and get true 7.1.6 processing? And everyone knows bi-poles are a compromise for immersive audio formats. Direct firing monopoles are best for generating the pin point directionality of the surround objects. My goodness...
