With so many channels devoted to featherlight speed machines, ridden by super fit athletes, Ride with Roy provides a safe haven where you will be welcome whatever you ride. I’m getting on a bit so have added an e-assist bike to my stable, which also includes two road bikes and a 29er hardtail mountain bike. Bought one to try remove a schwalbe Big Betty tyre this thing is on there and don't think there will be much room to play with even with the tyre in centre channel, can't even fit a normal tyre lever in this thing! New emtb wheels 30mm rim widths pro bike tools levers don't fit there way to thick so ordered schwalbe one's there flexing now so next thing to try is the glider! Should come today
@@AFV85 that sounds like it will be a real test. Let us know how it goes
The Rehook brand is a tyre glider and just marketed under their name. The one with the handle you mentioned is a poor attempt at a copy. While you would think the handle helps, it actually hinders by applying a twisting motion.
Interesting to hear you mention your Ribble. I bought a CGR Ale last year. After watching your Channel I too have problems with the marathon tyres not gripping when hitting silt on the edge of puddles. Could you, or your listeners comment on what is a fast tyre which has better grip.
@@IsobelWilde Hi, Isobel. I’m now using Continental Contact Plus on the Ribble and they feel very sure footed.
Many thanks. I will get them for winter.
Look down, look down, look down. Eyes of de road. Look ahead with a throttle. Banned in Uk oh dear. 🚴🏼♂️
And long may it continue! Mind you, drug dealers seem to use them with impunity in the UK.
I bought one a few weeks ago and have to tested for the first time in real time on a tight road tire with inner tube, it took me half time than with regular tire levers and with no effort, it is a game changer. excellent tool very well engineered.
Can you tell me what the rim width is on that wheel and is there a choice of rim width available?
@@craighamilton5570 this article gives some detail but best to contact Boostbike for advice as they are constantly evolving the specs boostbike.uk/advice/measure-wheel-size
@@RideWithRoy Thank you. Will do.
Dont you use a bell Roy..i dont like to cycle without a bell and mirror.
@missdarby1 to me, a bell feels like a command to get out of my way - I much prefer to make a friendly call out. I use a Garmin radar that alerts me to anything coming up behind, without me having to check a mirror. It allows me to concentrate on the road ahead.
How are we able to see if it is the new Version? Finn. Denmark
@@finncarlbomholtsrensen1188 everything supplied after the date of this video are new versions. The easy way to check is that the cutout will be 5mm in the new version
@@RideWithRoy Thank You. Do You have an Agent in Denmark, on the cut off Continent? Finn
@@RideWithRoy Do You have a Dealer in Denmark, to reach out to?
Hi, Finn. I don’t supply the product so the best thing is to contact Tyre Glider direct. I believe they supply direct to most of the world now through local distribution. tyreglider.co.uk
@@RideWithRoy I did buy a Glider directly and it seems to function fine, though I paid more in Postage than the actual price. But finding my home here on the Cut Off Continent may be difficult? I have never had a puncture on my Brompton but I think to have heard, that it may be difficult to take the tyre off? But anyway now I hope to have a weapon to persuade them to come off!! Finn
Nice review Roy, looks like just what I need to iron out the handlebar buzz on my road bikes 👍
Nice. Might have to look into these. I have been using Specialized dual gel mitts after some hand issues on ultra events. They are good but after one race or event they get pretty worn and the gel pads also.
I’m glad I watched till the end at the beginning I was going to moan about your initial attitude but you answered all of of my moans red lights bad car car drivers no car tax Many thanks
It was intended to draw the anti cyclists in so they might learn something - although some are beyond hope!
Hello nice video
Don’t you just hate cycle paths with posts and lamps stuck in the way ( lack of planning)
@@andy654shaz we are always second best to cars, Andy.
Why do car drivers do what they do (they don’t go through red lights they don’t speed ,they don’t drive like lunatics and nobody pays road tax it got stopped in 1937)
I hope you watched more than the first few minutes, Andy, and got my spoof opening 😀
Yes see my later comments
Good review, Roy. I've made a note for the future-I did go to their site but ended up buying a pair of their handlebar mitts for the winter-instead!
Still think old-fashioned weight lifting gloves ... thick real keather for 10 quid are better. And they stretch to your hand shape. Sports Direct !
@@TrueBlade-1889 whatever works for you has to be the best for you 😀
I have had these mitts over 3 years and still going strong with no sign of wear. Well worth the investment 😊
Look a good product, the xxl look a good size, I find some makes the largest size available are too tight.
I do like to wear track mitts, I do get after riding a distance pins & needles in my fingers....thanks for the advice on relieving it. Gonna try these. 'Ull' east yorkshire.
Hey Roy. What camera are you using if you don't mind me asking 😊
I don’t mind you asking at all 😀 That video was shot with the GoPro Hero 9, but I found it so unreliable that I now use the DJI Action four. It’s entirely reliable and much easier to use. As I use external Mics, the GoPro required a media mod. Apart from the extra cost, this was a real chore to remove for battery changes. The Action 4 doesn’t need a media mod for external mics and battery changes are simple and fast.
Well done both, I’ve enjoyed watching this series, it looked great fun. That would be my kind of bike packing, staying in hotels. You seem to have had a trouble free ride and no mechanicals, and apart from your off, thankfully with no injury a successful and safe ride
Thank you yes we were very lucky!
What do you mean "Your roads? Who made them your roads?" And road tax is about emissions! Did you know you get no emissions on a bike. Majority of cyclists are also car drivers so we know the high way code. So you're talking rubbish most of time. The amount of near misses I've had on my bike because of idiot drivers is ridiculous..
If you’re replying to me then I’m afraid it’s you talking rubbish. I made this rather misleading intro to draw in the cyclist haters in an effort to educate them. Sadly, it’s seems a few cyclists aren’t watching more than the intro before commenting, which only serves to make you look stupid. If your comment was replying to someone else’s comment then I apologise, but I couldn’t see a thread.
Is the Torque and speed sensor integrated in the back engine?
You soldiered on and accomplished your goal! Just as important is, on reflection, realized it had all been a bit much. Laudable is your contingency planning if things get too risky.
Well done both of you. I'm glad that I had my own little project to take me northwards (The Great North Road) as those off road cycleways aren't for me! Regarding rest days I agree with you. My strategy is to have a couple of short days, trying to stay somewhere interesting the night between.
Well done both and thanks for taking us all along on the ride.
“It was a good idea at the time” springs to mind lol I’m only joking, honestly Roy and Wendy, you both did fantastically well on completing such a tough and challenging trip. Well done to you both😊
I knew I would like this series and I wasn't wrong. All credit to you both. A trip like you've just made will be one of your favourite memories to look back on. I'm sure you must both have been very tired at the end. Thanks to you and Wendy for taking your viewers along with you.👍
Lovely series. Very well done both of you, great achievement. Congratulations to you both 🚴♀️🚴♂️
Subscribing based purely on your channel description. Riding slow and the quietest route is exactly my style. 👍
Great to have you along. Yes, what you see is what you get 😀
Still friends? Did you take any rest days? I think that’s the secret, to take a day off when you feel like quitting
Fortunately we never got to the quitting stage so not building in a rest day worked for us. Any longer and we would have needed one but we feel it would have been harder to get going again.
Well done to you both. Great adventure 👍
Bloody well done, you’re an inspiration! Having watched your Canti ride guess what we’re doing in Sept! Keep on pedalling!
It’s a great route enjoy!
Great adventure, well done both
Great series of videos Roy and Wendy. Loved the adventures. Well done. If you fancy a shorter 3 day adventure why not look at "the bay" cycle way (around Morecambe bay from Barrow in Furness to Glasson Dock near Lancaster). I did it with my 80 year old cycling mad father in law a couple of months ago and added extra inland loops from the designated route for extra distance. Amazing scenery, manageable daily distances and climbs, and generally quiet roads. I know you can get trains to barrow and Lancaster so maybe one to think about for you both in the future. cheers
Thanks for that suggestion. We love that part of the country, after starting our Way of The Roses ride from Morecambe Bay, so definitely one to consider.
Sounds good!
No worries. Feel free to contact me if you need any ideas etc.... enjoy. Both take care👍
That was great. Just picked up a new RC520 Gravel. From what the shop said, new wheels have sold the old problems. Mine came with some paint problem ( they said it on the eshop ), so a £240 discount and reduction in paint warranty from 2 years to 1 year. When I picked it up in the shop, the paint is as perfect as a non-2nd version ( the problem as noted was a 2nd layer of matt black paint not adhering to the underlying finished green paint properly in the 2-tone paint scheme. But the guy in the shop said it was the 4th of these 2nds to come in with perfect paint. "Just don't put a 1000psi power washer on it" ). Now have to get some lights - yours look great. All the best and greetings from Prague, CZ
I love a bargain and that sounds a great one. You’ll also feel less bothered if you scratch it. I am just off on an all night ride so will be using lots of lights 😀🎄
@@RideWithRoy Safe riding !
Well done Roy and Wendy. Loving the channel and certainly feeling for you at odd times during the adventure. Interested in your comments about the rest day or lack.
Well done to both of you. I really enjoyed this series, it definitely made me want to attempt myself.
Do it, Jon 👍
Will the cops get a search warrant on the badis of an air tag and app ?
Only if someone’s feeling have been hurt
What 3 settings do you have your power set at ?
Green 60% Amber 80% Red 100% I leave Red at 100% as when I need it I need it all 😀
Well Wendy Didn't 'Catch a' death o' cold'. 😮😁👍👍
That’s because she kept t’at on 😀
Well done Roy and Wendy! a great end to a magnificent journey. You should both be very proud of your achievement. Thanks for letting me take part in a small part of it.
You were more than a small part of it, Paul. Apart from shaving off some unwanted elevation, you provided good company and motivation. Thanks again.
Definitely! You provided a much needed boost just when we needed it!
Brilliant well done both of you ! Glad you’re still friends ha ha! Can’t wait to see your next adventures 😊🎉
The premier inn should guarantee a good night sleep or your money back so if you both didn’t sleep well you should get a refund. I once got a free breakfast as someone had left their toenail cuttings by the chair in my room. Love Whitby! 50 miles across fields and walking up hills must make the day longer.
Well done to both of you. And thanks for sharing the experience, I’ve really enjoyed this series.
From Oz … thanks. Your wrap up of learnings was excellent. I’ll look forward to following in your tracks if I get there next year. Ian
Well done Carol and Roy. Just binge-watched your adventure. Looks like you took one of my never-ending straight roads on my regular commute into Gainsborough... not nice in a headwind - nowhere at all to hide!
Thanks, Richard. Yes, that was the one. I commented to Wendy that I thought we were near to where you live. Fortunately we had a tailwind on that stretch. I think a headwind along there would have finished us.
New to your channel, loved the series it's got me thinking now, I wonder what I could do!
Thanks for watching! I think that most people can do more than they think they can do. It’s just a case of breaking through that psychological barrier. I remember persuading Wendy she could ride 100 miles. She didn’t believe she could, but now she has done several. Keep in touch and let us know what you achieve.
@@RideWithRoy I'll drop a comment on your FB page later!
Beverley is my favourite town, I was at Leconfield in the early 90’s.
