I have been contemplating having a warning sticker...as i did not want to aggregate drivers. You had me with your comment " Prevention " so I will be getting one or two. Many thanks Roy and Wendy 👍👍

    Thank you Roy and Wendy for your videos, and thank you Nigel for such a simple but much needed invention 👍. I often ride at the back on group rides a little way out from the kerb to try and ensure the rest of the group are passed safely. One of these on my back would be perfect not only as a warning, but also to highlight my outside edge as many winter cycling tops especially have a black back. DN17

    Hi Roy and Wendy great video as always. I could do with one of those as I have to ride on lots of busy town/city roads before I get to any quieter country lanes. I'm always expressing close passes on every ride despite riding in hi Vis, always with decent lights, and with a Garmin varia rear radar. I'm curious to see if these would alter drivers' behaviour. Cheers. Postcode M29 Manchester

    I could do with a pass pixie. I have nearly ended up being squished against tunnel walls twice in the last few weeks - despite the fact that I was trying to take primary position - they still tried to get by me. I have a planetx torch on my helmet which looks like a GoPro so the pass pixie will hopefully make the drivers think. Where I live in Worcester we have two main roads dissected by the railway line. In order to get into town I am forced to ride through the tunnels as there are no cycle routes - it is really scary stuff! WR4.

    Good to see the two of you back online for March. Sorry to hear you both were battling a cold. Nice that you're recovering, sniffles and all. 😊 A cruise! How lovely, Roy. Have you been on one before? Years ago (everything I've done was years ago 😊) I went on a schooner cruise along the Maine coast. Not exactly luxury accommodations but I met some nice people and enjoyed a delicious fresh lobster meal al fresco. Wendy, the only long distance riding I've done was bike camping. Carried 30 pounds of gear in panniers, handlebar bag, and on top of the rear carrier. Nothing makes you appreciate riding an empty bike like carting 30 lbs. of stuff long distance. 😢 I can't exactly say what was most important as I took basically necessities (no ball gowns). 😏 I'm wondering how those rear packs you have will fare in a strong cross wind. Don't want either of you to get blown off the road. Take care on your trip. Looking forward to the video. Oh, I get a kick out of listening to your banter. 😊

    It was our fourth cruise, Linda. We’re not really into cruising but it was a way of getting some winter sun without spending mind numbing hours in airports. I really don’t like big ships so your schooner sounds perfect. Unfortunately, the hygiene standards of some passengers was so poor that I’m surprised we didn’t contract something worse than a cold! There was no encouragement to wash hands before using shared serving utensils, so most didn’t! You would have thought that with the experience of Covid and regular outbreaks of Norovirus they would have learned the lesson. I don’t think Wendy will be affected by crosswinds as her bike will be so heavy 😀

    Hi Roy, I’ve been thinking about a Pixi. We live on the South Coast and the traffic is unbelievable busy especially if we set off around commuting time. It’s so dangerous we now drive above the A27 and off the A24 before every ride as we’ve had so many near misses and two actual knocks. I’ve sent a couple of videos to the police but I don’t think they did anything.

  • @RideWithRoy

    @RideWithRoy

    4 ай бұрын

    I must say that the police in my area are very efficient in handling reports. I did have a problem with Notts Police and made an official complaint, after which they improved. I would certainly be writing to the Chief Constable as word soon goes round about such prosecutions and safety improves. I would much rather avoid a close pass, so the Pixi appears to help in that.

    Here on the South Coast the traffic is very busy and impatient because of all the delays. I originate from Middlesbrough and really notice the reduced volume and courtesy when we are back up North. It feels like rats in a trap around here. It’s why we like riding in France.

Just wanted to know, just how much better, is the saddle pack, whilst using the stabilisers? It looked ok from your footage, but does it make a great difference? I need one, but can't afford to waste another £20 ISH, and value your opinion over most tbh. Thanks in advance. Andy

  • @RideWithRoy

    We are both over the colds, Andy, but both suffering tiredness. We need to get fit for May! I can let you know about the saddle pack once I’ve tried it loaded. However, I have no doubt that the stabiliser will do its job as it’s very secure. Once we try them loaded I’ll make an update. We’re just waiting for Wendy’s 46/30 chainrings to arrive. Redshift have generously sent us both their soon to be launched ‘Top Shelf’ handlebar. That gives us more clearance for the front bag and, in Wendy’s case, more width. Once we have her chainrings on we’ll do a fully loaded test.
