Love cycling in autumn and winter, that cold air certainly has a bite to it first thing. The only downside is that low lying sun, always wary of cars. Stay safe Roy and Wendy.

Lovely ride Roy on quiet lanes. I'm like you feeling the cold, so those heated gloves are ideal.👍🏼

The Sandy Lane and that hill is my usual route home to melton. I always end up walking the last part to the gate gets me every time. But its a lovely quiet route.

Perfect Autumn riding weather. At this time of year a longish ride means an early start and a late finish. Low sun is my problem, glasses help a bit but I wear a cap under my helmet. I look a bit like Donald Duck but the peak of the cap means I can see where I'm going. Wendy's repertoire is growing, those singing lessons are paying off! Thanks for the video, I hope there were no close passes.

No close passes but a close encounter with an uncontrolled Labrador. Nearly knocked Wendy off. The only problem with Wendy improving her singing is that if tunes become recognisable, KZread will give me a copyright strike 😀

Great to hear the place names and have the GPS route, thanks. You picked a great day! Like me, both you and Wendy have front and rear lights and hi-viz clothing. I see so many cyclist in dark clothing and no lights! With rechargeable lights it's a no brainer keeping the lights on but I do turn the front light off on bridleways with horses around.

Yes, we always either cover the front light or tilt it down when approaching horses. Our rear lights are part of the Varia radar, which is that beeping you hear. We also have the Redshift Arclight illuminated pedals, which really do stand out.

I agree - I can’t believe the cyclist I see in black cycling clothes and no lights. Especially with the damp low light days we have at the moment. The other day Roy and I were surprised so see school children cycling home at dusk with no lights on too.

It looks as though the two of you sure had beautiful riding weather. But I got the impression Wendy would have preferred it a little colder (merino base layer) and Roy would have preferred it a bit warmer. Wendy, even tho you're a hot chocolate drinker, with as warm as you were did you have some on your stop? I went out myself. We had good weather here today so I lubed up my trike and headed out. Usually I tend to push myself on a ride, but today I just rode slowly and it was so much more relaxing. After about ten miles or so, I started heading for home. But I was enjoying the ride so much and the weather was so nice, I just kept pedaling. At one point I heard something behind me; turned to look and found a big black Lab galloping next to me! 😁 When he saw me looking at him, he turned and ran home. Roy, you've got swans. I've got Canadian geese. They gather in yards and take their sweet time crossing the street. Some of them don't make it, unfortunately. That fire was awful. Burning plastics can't be good for breathing. 😢 Goodness! Sorry for the long post. I don't know when to stop. 😂 Wonderful video as usual. Wendy, keep singing. 😉

Very happy for you to go on as long as you like, Linda - thanks for taking the time. I actually like bright cold days but my fingers don’t. A big black lab featured in this ride as well - it nearly knocked Wendy off! Not so much an out of control dog as ignorant owner. I didn’t include it as like to keep things positive. We are seeing more and more wild geese. Have you seen the film Fly Way Home?

Yes I enjoy hot chocolate as I very rarely drink coffee. Seems like your dog was friendlier than the one we encountered running madly in the park. I don’t object to dogs have a mad run around if the owner is actually aware of the people around them and in control. As for my merino base layer - been put back in the cupboard for much colder weather 😄

@@RideWithRoy -- Yes, Roy I have seen that movie; it's been many years though. But it was a very inspiring story. I think it was based on a real fellow who started Operation Migration helping birds on their migration journey. I don't encounter many off leash dogs while riding and all of them are small. The Lab was the biggest. Thankfully, he seemed friendly but you can't ever tell. I have more trouble with kamikaze squirrels who run out directly in front of my trike. 🥴

@@wendysheehan2413 -- I'm with you, Wendy. Hot chocolate on a cold day, yummy. I don't drink coffee at all but really like coffee ice cream. 🙃 The Lab did seem friendly but I did wonder if he was trying to sneak up to take a bite! He was quiet, not barking. No one called him back that I could hear. I'm not too fond of owners who don't keep an eye on their dogs.

Hi Roy,enjoyable as ever, thanks for all the various locations & landmarks,ie windmill at Wissendind,a quick question about the Redshift bars,I’m considering a pair without the loop so I can use a conventional bar bag,do you think they make a big difference in comfort, atb Colin P.

  • @RideWithRoy

They did seem a bit odd to start with and, at first, I felt I’d gone too wide at 50cm. However, now when I go back to the standard bars on my Ribble I feel really uncomfortable. I strongly recommend the comfort grips and their own bar tape. The grips make riding in the drops a pleasure and the tape is top quality and long enough for the wider bars. Although my link gives a good discount, they currently have a sale on so you’ll get an even better deal.

Love Stilton cheese, a lot of people presume it originated in although it probably originated in Leicestershire or Nottinghamshire, one reference said it was first produced by a cheese Maker from Wymondham, it was just sold to travelers along the Great North road at the Village of Stilton, hopefully, my Range extender is due in Sigma Sports tomorrow, not been out this week, been a bit down my partner died 5 years ago 16th November.

@RideWithRoy yes seen the route on ride with GPS looks good, would make a nice day ride from Melton Mowbray, you didn't go through the park near the station with canal lock gates in the grass. I really enjoyed exploring around Melton Mowbray when I went to work there a couple of times, and last year, I cycled there on the hottest day of the year, because trains cancelled due to the heat.
