InsignificantNick

Hello, and welcome to my channel! I upload 4 times a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday). I react to songs I've never heard, but sometimes I review songs I've heard to delve deeper. As someone with depression and anxiety issues, this channel allows me to escape for a while and interact with others. Almost every video is copyrighted, and the owner allows the content to be used. I don't do this for money. I do it for the music.

    I used to have this album and I had not pay much attention to this song. What? I just discovered this song a couple months ago and couldn’t stop listening to it. It’s so Intense just whoa, those fast drums in the end get me each time.

    This song is ridiculous. Chris’s voice is another level on this album. I was fortunate enough to see TOTD on their final tour in Philly and it’s a night I’ll never forget. And the covers were phenomenal - The Cure’s Fascination Street, Mad Season (another supergroup) River of Deceipt and Led Zeppelin’s Achilles’ Last Stand. Here is my video of that performance if you’d like to check it out - legendary. kzread.info/dash/bejne/f5-r2cmsdKy-iMY.htmlsi=e9nc7zFj9gbbEQcm

    Don't forget that Terry is one of the composers of this song, which means that this recording is as original as the Go Gos'. My favourite version will always be Fun Boy Three's.

    I came across your channel randomly last year and have been a sub since. You have a great personality and your sincerity always comes through. Thanks for sharing your personal story, I’m sure it resonates with so many of us here. Weight, self image, motivation, mental health are all issues we struggle with in some form and I just want you to know you’re not alone and I definitely understand. Also, losing a pet is one of the most devastating feelings ever but I’m glad to hear you’re doing better. Wishing you well on your health journey and much continued success on the channel! From your fellow, friendly Canadian 👋🏼 🇨🇦 ✌🏼

    This solo outtake version of Thunder Road from the Born to Run sessions is my favorite Springsteen recording ever. Just acoustic guitar & voice and a COMPLETELY different arrangement and vibe. Sublime from start to finish.... kzread.info/dash/bejne/q4ilpchpfKy4obg.html

    Grear reaction, Nick! Glad you had the patience to go through the lyrics which are often as evocative as the music. Springsteen has a lot of epic early songs but I'll recommend the angry, sorrowful, defiant "Darkness on the Edge of Town" album for its searing guitar solos and songs like "Candy's Room", and [preferably, live 1978 versions of] "Racing in the Street" and "Prove It All Night".

    If you want to hear Jacques Brel, I suggest Ne Me Quitte Pas or Amsterdam (the live version). Brel is huge in French speaking countries.

  • @Auldreekie967
    @Auldreekie9675 күн бұрын

    According to a subscriber on Quora the Jacques Brel version of the song is about the protagonist killing himself to spite a cheating lover, an even darker meaning than Terry Jacks version.

  • @DrStrangelove3891
    @DrStrangelove38915 күн бұрын

    The lyrics of Le Moribond, the original by Brel, say nothing about the protagonist 'killing himself'. He knows he is bound to die, so he says goodbye to his cheating wife, and to her lover, who he kind of forgives and insults at the same time. And then he says goodbye to the local priest, with who he had disagreements, but in the end 'on cherchait le meme port' (we searched for the same harbour).

  • @InsignificantNick

    I read up on this after the video. The original is even more tragic than Terry's.
