Morrissey - Back on the Chain Gang | Reaction!

After I reacted to the Pretenders' original version of this, a lot of you guys recommended that I react to Moz's cover. In the words of Paul Weller, "The public wants what the public gets." Moz has always loved this song, and it's neat that he covered a track by his friend, Chrissie Hynde. I like that they kind of made it a bit more gritty and rocky.
Thanks for watching!

I love that one. Released only as a radio session track, and live concert recording. The video of the four song Tony Visconti studio session includes this song and is on youtube. Worth a watch

Jacky's Only Happy when She's Up On The Stage's video has a similar 60's vibe to this.

Entréguenle a moz una canción , cualquiera, el sabe qué hacer, su voz se lo permite, sus músicos aportan lo suyo. Saludos 🇨🇱

His covers album, California Son, includes many great tracks. Lady Willpower is highly recommended. Think you'll like that one, Nick.

I always loved Lady Willpower but man when Morrissey sings it he takes it to another level!!! It's my favorite on the album.

Another fantastic review, doesn't Morrissey just do covers with such justice? Would you be able to look into 'Frankenstein' by The New York Dolls and 'Lover-To-Be' by Morrissey. Both superb yet underrated songs. Keep up the great reviews!

He does seem to do covers with a lot of reverence and justice.

I was never a fan of the original version but I am absolutely in love with this version!! I love the part when his voice goes high ❤ Im pissed off this deluxe version of the album did not come out on CD as I dont buy vinyl. Not a fan of the video, I keep wanting to button his shirt up 😊

I remember watching this video a while back, and what stood out for me was M's wielding of a guitar! I wonder if he has ever actually learned to play a few chords on the instrument? Maybe he got as far with it as he did with his piano playing in the 1980s!

Boz was absent in the video so Morrissey had to take a guitar to make it fit visually as a band I suppose.

You've already reacted to almost his entire discography, including many not very relevant songs, but I suggest Mexico, which is a beautiful, underrated ballad.

You should react to Dean Blunt - The Rot. He’s a modern artist but he’s rooted in experimentation. Very unique and introspective music. I would say he’s like the Elliott Smith or r&b in terms of vibes his songs have

I never knew he did a cover of this. I vastly prefer the Pretenders version (especially with the grunting LOL). All in all, a servicable cover, but not surpassing the original.
