Kirsty MacColl - They Don't Know | Reaction!
Kirsty MacColl's story really got me when I first listened to her, so I decided to come back to her. This is a pretty straightforward and defiant love song. She sings it with a lot of passion and, well, love! Idk if it makes sense, but once again, she gave me a bit of a country vibe. Also, I loved the Beach Boys influenced harmonies.

Tracey Ullman did a cover of this song in 1983 which reached number 2 in the UK singles chart and number 8 in the Billboard Hot 100
She could also do Latin rhythms. Check out "In these shoes?" from her album Tropical Brainstorm. It's sinuous, sultry, and has a great brass section.
Great choice, great song, especially the BABY. B-side is good too.
Kirsty had such a lovely voice.
Love Kirsty! Loads of Smiths/Morrissey links, with her appearing on records by both, plus shared musicians and producers. Would recommend checking out 'Can't Stop Killing You' (co-written with Johnny Marr), or 'You Know It's You' (co-written with Mark Nevin from Moz's 'Kill Uncle' period, which she also apparently tried to persuade Morrissey to cover), as a start, but there are loads of great songs.
"They Don't Know..." is one of the greatest power pop songs ever recorded - perfection from start to finish. On Kirsty's country tones, check out her song "Don't Come the Cowboy With Me, Sonny Jim"!

Kristy was brilliant. This is a fantastic song.
I liked the Tracy Ullman cover, only because I fancied her as a 12 year old. It wasn't until years later I realised it wasn't her song.
She also covered the Kinks' Days.
I love your reaction to this. You have an insight that you can express very well. BTW, Ullman's version is great.

Wow. Have to admit I had no idea this was her song. And the Tracey Ullman cover was an almost identical lift (which always pisses me off when artists add nothing to a cover). Oh well, hopefully Tracey’s hit version put some money in Kirsty’s pocket at least.

Ullman's version is maybe more theatrical and chart-orientated.

Kirsty did the "bay-bee" bit because Ullman couldn't reach the high notes.
