They aren’t good! Any team with Lynn and Mikolas in the rotation isn’t to be taken seriously. Their absolute upside is getting smoked in the wild card round. I’m not okay with the carousel of mediocrity. Sell the team, goblin bill!

@@CharlieMarlowSTL that’s my take. They aren’t good. Either way, they aren’t going to do anything of substance to augment it. Mozeliak already telling Ken Rosenthal that they don’t need to add a starter because of Graceffo and McGreevy. It’s the same as it ever was.

If they continue their hot streak they’ve been on since Mother’s Day they’re on pace to finish the year around 46-26…that gives them a 94-win season. If they add a starter and get Edman back and he is typically Tommy Edman and nothing else currently happening changes whatsoever you have to feel pretty good about finishing pretty close to the run they’re on

I’d push back on what Brenden says around the 48 minute mark. I agree if you have ambitions there’s no reason to push for that next peak. That said, does Mo care about making an NLCS? I think it’s hard because the fan ambitions are above just making an NLCS. I think his goals should be above that, and they likely are. We made the NLCS in 2019, but we don’t laud that much. He hasn’t popped the ws champagne in 13 years, I’d bet he wants to again

I’d honestly like to know what the realistic expectations are for trade targets. Gray, Gibson, Lynn, Mikolas and as of right now, Pallante make 5 in the rotation. Who in that group is a likely trade piece? Unless Pallante moves out, there’s no room for a guy unless he’s part of a trade package or someone gets hurt between now and the deadline Lineup seems pretty locked down with Goldschmidt, Arenado, Contreras, Gorman, Winn, Nootbaar, Donovan, Burleson and Siani…Trade Carlson? Edman? A guy like Scott or Walker for an arm? Feels like the likely move where there is reasonable room to fill is the bullpen. Between Gallegos and Middleton….it seems like the move is there

I’m still not convinced with Marmol. I think he has help from veterans. Watching the game yesterday, Brandon Crawford was next him throughout the telecast….i think Carp and Crawford have contributed to this club more then people know. Crawford already looks like skipper material on the top stop of the dugout talking strategy. Oli was put in this position before he was ready. I think he is being helped more this season. Let’s face it….his first season Yadi and Albert were the co managers of this club. Last year was result of Oli and staff being in charge. This season is a hybrid of Marmol and his staff having help but not yet being the guys. I think that’s why the contract extension was given because MO still believes in the long term Oli can manage given the proper seasoning.

PLEASE TRADE GOLDSCHMIDT!!! HE'S A RALLY KILLER!!! Goldschmidt will get us a high end reliever!!! And Burly will play just as good at 1st and he's clearly a better hitter than Goldschmidt. That to me is a legit playoff line up with superior defense.. Monty was the main reason next to evoldi that they made it to and won the series so Monty was a legit #2 easily.. rangers didn’t have a 1 they had to top tier #2’s and Scherzer was hurt so had poor outings.. Monty also was on a 1 year 10 mil deal… Scherzer is on a 1 year and about 9 million left or so on his deal… it’s the same trade if they include a high leverage arm as we did last year… we got Roby and Saggase plus John King neither were top 100 guys and king was having a bad year… Roby is currently a top 5 guy in our system but hurt again.. Herrera or Carlson or both with Gio imo is about around the same trade… and Scherzer becomes a #2 for us like Monty did and their reliever helps us down the stretch…

I admit I watch and root for the team, but I'm also realistic in my expectations. They are good enough to take one of the final two playoff spots in a watered down National League. But they are going to get waxed by any of the top teams without meaningful additions. That means bringing in a one or two to pair with Gray and if they could add one more bullpen piece to supplement our three back-end arms, that could be crucial. I still say if you can get an outfielder or first baseman that can rake, go for it. Does anyone think Mo is capable of these moves?

Hoping he continues to grow as a complete MLB hitter. So pleased with the bullpen. Feeling good about guys like Roycroft, King extending possibilities. Who knows? Perhaps some kids will be able to help the rotation as the season continues. More positive on this team now than at any time this season. Thinking Siani/Pages need to be big pieces going forward. We have plenty of pieces to use on trades if decided to go that direction. Imagining of Walker could unlock what we hope is inside. Go Cardinals!! Imagine if Goldy/Arenado can have strong second halves. I think this team is strong. Burly/Donnie/Noot/Masyn staying on the field is key.
