So, help me understand: Herrera has been in the organization since 2016 and they just NOW FIGURED OUT he can’t throw? I mean…it’s like JWalk…they brought him to the big leagues, he started out his career with a hitting streak…but they sent him BACK TO MINORS TO GET MORE LIFT? Guys…we gotta fix this kind of semipro staff who is responsible for that mess, yes? It’s a TRAINWRECK.

💯💯💯💯☝️☝️☝️Exactly. Can’t blame the players. Horrific development and decision making throughout the organization. Look into what Pallante said in an interview with Goold. Trainwreck indeed. Well said. And yea, Herrera MLB bat but in no way a MLB catcher.

What Leitch & Bernie talkn about, the stadium is empty, there’s no buzz, there’s no excitement. There’s a lotta people in denial, pretending…still dreaming somehow they can sneak in and go on a run, and that’s the wrong kind of hope I’m looking for. It’s this **strategy** that’s got us where we are. Pete Kozma isn’t gonna show up and hit .900 in the postseason. And it’s allowing the club to use this strategy…eke in, and get lucky, that’s the reason the organization is where it is.

And they only have like 1-2 players they could trade to restock the system. They should honestly trade everyone over 25. It’s going to be a 5-6 year rebuild to get this team back to a contender that can sustain its success.

I've been a Cardinal fan since 1968. I live 1.5 hours north of the ballpark. I have watched most every game for years on FSMW or Bally Sports via Comcast. I love the game, & realize the team won't win the WS every year, or even make the playoffs every year. I lived through the 1970's teams & the 80's post Whitey, pre-LaRussa teams, so I've seen some terrible teams. I have now been transported to the early 1970's, when I could only see the Cardinals on TV via the occasional Saturday game of the week, or once in awhile on Sundays with Jay Randolph and about a 3 camera shot view. Baseball or the Cardinals have to do something about Xfinity/BallySports situation, or offer an alternative. After awhile, you just find other things to fill the evenings, & the team becomes a little less important every week. Baseball can't let that happen. I appreciate you guys talking about this situation on your podcast today.

It does feel like he's given up on the dream a bit and that's sad because he was so desperate to leave Colorado that he bought the load from us and he probably has a ring if he goes to either coast. He was that good back then. We just secretly didn't need just one piece. Imagine if he had become a Met with Alonso and Lindor? Or the Dodgers lmfao? He can find it, but if you don't rebuild, it has to be built around Arenado and I mean now, within the next year or so. Which isn't exactly a feasible option. So many holes in the system.

I’m a Jordon Walker advocate the man is 22 years old just let him play stop trying to change him. De la Cruz is worshipped by all because of the flash yet Jordan Walker had a better season as stated by “ The Grand Pupa” Bernie M. , but you would never know by the way everyone wants to change him. Your killing his confidence that’s why he seems to have gotten worse he is over thinking if you’re not happy trade him so he can go to a team that will be happy with his current game and let him grow into the man. Then all these crazy Cardinal fans will wonder when he is 25-27 years old knocking home runs everywhere. 😮

The St Louis media has been very fair with Oli. I just wish I could ask Bernie this one question. Considering the fact that this roster is all we have to work with, do you think that Oli is the right manager for THIS group of players? Or better yet, do you think that there is a veteran manager out there somewhere that could coax more out of this particular group? Personally, I think this team needs a more charismatic, inspirational leader. Someone that’s been through it all before. Someone who can bridge the gap between the inexperienced, younger players and the veteran leaders who seem to be having doubts about their own abilities. Someone who knows how to keep guys loose! I think Oli is probably a fine manager for a team that is a lot less neurotic than this one.

I think Arenado needs a change of scenery. L.A. could still use him and they may have answers for his hitting issues. And hitting in that lineup can only help him. Marmol is not the problem but he obviously isn’t the solution. I like the suggestion someone else made in this comment thread….Terry Francona. Great with players and a proven winner. We need someone from outside the organization. Mo steps aside, what’s his name Haime Bloem (I’m sure the spelling is wrong) runs the baseball operations. Start a rebuild with this core: Contreras and Goldy stay, Winn, Gorman, Donovan, and Burleson. Focus the draft on starting pitchers like Tink Hence and others from our past glory days. Think Matt Morris and Chris Carpenter. Bulldogs that will take the ball every fifth day and want to WIN! This is my plan. Other suggestions welcome.

Burly off bench or off Day.. imo the line up would take off as Goldie and Arenado need that Pujols like threat vet superstar to take the pressure off to perform at their highest ability we saw this in 2022

The problem now for years, even playoff teams is the organization won't go all in. You have to either spend to get better or blow it up and rebuild. We just tip our toes in the water instead of jumping in and being committed. Only one plan makes sense to me, trade Arenado for prospects, he certainly won't bring what he would have 18 months ago. Goldy really doesn't matter at this point, how much is a declining player going to bring as a rental. Trade him or keep him; either way this is his last season. Most importantly, move on from Mo and Oli. This is a rudderless ship.

Cards could have a good offense…..the problem is they’re completely reliant on 100% of their guys staying healthy which will never happen over 162. The disaster scenario that’s currently unfolding with Walker being sent down, Nootbaar hurt again, Carlson completely lost at the plate, Edman still being out, Contreras being hurt, Arenado and Goldy not being themselves and even having to manage Winn’s workload resulting in having to rely on Pages/Herrera, Siani, Carpenter, Crawford and now Fermin as much as they have is where the FO completely failed. Not a single player at any level of the minors appears to be ready to take the next step and therefore you have zero depth whatsoever. Hopefully Edman and Contreras return soon, that should provide a nice spark. Ideally you get Noot back too and you can let Donnie be your utility guy again. He certainly can’t be any worse in a spot start at SS than Crawford

They really do suck guys and gals! This is why I want them to lose. The standards are so low that even a third wild card spot will give them any excuse they need to not make changes. The people who caused this shouldn’t be allowed to “try” to fix it. I put that in quotes because they aren’t committed to winning and the front office has no clue what they’re doing. They need to be fired. Losing is the only way that happens.

The issue is direction. The organization is a rudderless ship. The Cardinals aren’t good enough to contend with the upper echelon teams, they aren’t bad enough to warrant a total tear down and they aren’t desperate or hungry enough to push all in. If the team was serious about a rebuild, it should have happened at the deadline last year. Anything of value should have went. They went half way…. If the team was serious about contending with the big boys, they would have taken a hard look at reality and made the 1 or 2 moves still needed beyond what was done. They went halfway….. The team has been poor at identifying players to keep and players to move and poor trades have only worsened the risk aversion. They’ve been below average at developing talent over the last 3-5 years. Too many really good prospects have regressed and too many guys that struggled here have flourished elsewhere….I don’t know if that’s purely development or if evaluation is part of it. If I’m running the team, the first thing I’m doing is dumping all money required into development….Whether it’s coaches, equipment, evaluation/analytics….whatever. Cardinals HAVE to get back to that. Cardinals under DeWitt have (up until the last 5-6 years) always developed internally and supplemented with trades or FA’s. THAT was the Cardinal Way. Now it’s the other way around and you’ve got a roster made up of mostly mid level free agent signings supplemented with mid level talent prospects. Next - I’m culling the FO Brass - Brain drain and complacency is a real thing with Mozeliak and Mike Girsch. This isn’t an issue regarding spending. DeWitt has never ran a Top 5 payroll and it was never an issue….Its heart and desire. What I do is go out and spend what’s needed to steal guys from other organizations that can offer fresh ideas. Mozeliak was great …but, I don’t know if others made him look better than he was or if his fire is dwindling….whatever it is needs changed. Oli has to be a part of that. He was put into a no win situation, but at the end of the day….hes not an A level manager….which is what is desperately needed. I could go on, but the overall point is direction. If you wanna contend….do what’s needed. If the talent isn’t there then do what’s needed in the short term but benefit the long haul. If you aren’t willing to do either, then you’re in the wrong business…..The Cardinals are stuck in limbo and in reality, the only way out is to gut everything of value, endure 2-3 years of shit baseball, hire smart on the FO and coaching side, spend big on the development side and circle 2028 as the year to start supplementing the young talent you’ve kept, acquired and drafted and FA signing and trades. Question is….Does anyone in the organization have the guts to do it and will the fans get behind it if there a light at the end of the tunnel?
