Helsley leads all NL pitchers in WPA, which is probably a better stat for evaluating relievers than WAR. He really deserves his All-Star nod this year!

So happy to see Gorman with 2 hits, to include, of course, the “oppo granny.” Indeed. Gibson was nails. 8 K’s in 4 innings then the 5th. Ouch. Fernandez is nails. Happy for Ryan. Team record already. The RBI by Donnie to get us up by 3 was crucial. Go Cards. Thinking we need to overtake the Brewers and thinking we can. Mets/Padres look solid. Happy 4th everyone. Work for our Republic. Every day.

It was not that long ago I was irked when Marmol did not use Helsely in a save opportunity in extras and went with Roycroft despite not pitching the prior night. I thought Helsley not to be the workhorse like a Ron Perranoski from the long ago past for the Dodgers. Since that game he has done nothing but pitch like a workhorse. The rest did him well.

Not seeing Skenes makes this imo a potential sweep.. I really think with rangers falling they should try and snag Scherzer.. paired with Gray gives the birds a legit shot to win the WC series to see Phillies dodgers in divisional.. like to see Dodgers as I think this team could Dbacks them.. right out of the playoffs

Why do they always call the All-Star break the halfway mark in the season by the time they get to the all-star break there'll be something like only 60 games left in the season 60 games left in the season 60 games left in the season

I think Gorman is a .200 hitter with 40 bombs. He may go as high as .230, but he's a left handed power hitter and that is very much needed.

Why do people continue to say we need to keep Arenado. He's become a singles hitter, make an occasional great play at third, however, HE DOESN'T HUSSLE. I have seen it time and time again. I went to a game earlier in the year and he was the last one in the dugout! The left fielder beat him in; he was basically walking in. He always peels off when he grounds out. I'm almost certain every major league player who grounds run at least runs thru the bag. Trade him or bench him to send a message he might be the laziest player in the game and makes LOTS and LOTS of MONEY. Is he sending a signal...please trade me?
