Gray-Scherzer would potentially outduel Nola-Wheeler. Walker has a long swing to get his full power to launch it, he just needs quicker pitch recognition and tweak his swing to keep his barrel in the zone longer

The lefty starter kookooachoo? That guy from Toronto. Richard's also Kirby Yates! Great numbers!. Can the hitting coach help Gorman? Walker the first year was great and respectable was it 16 homers and grow from there. It's tough go look at hitters that are that tall. Strawberry , Dave Parker had success. Dave Kingman not so much. You have a large strike zone and a lot more mechanics in your swing. I hope Jordan will be back and I wish him the best. Your batting title were one by hitters that are around 6ft Stan M , Gwynn, Rose, Cobb,Manny Rimirez,Nomar Garciappara, MaureRoger Hornsby ,Kirby Puckett, Ichiro..the list is long. But Walker I think can hit 280 which is great in this league now. Albert Pujols 6ft3 hit in the crouch great success. Great job Lance Lynn👍👏 keep it up..looking for that red jacket. Thankyou JD for the possibilities in the trade depth. ⚾️🏆 Brock had over 3000 hits and Keith Hernandez a batting title

I don't understand that the cardinals and alot of fans are talking about looking for a #5 starter. This team presently have a number of #4 and 5 starters already on the roster in my opinion. Lynn, Pallante, Gibson and even Mikolas would all be considered to be 4 and 5 starters on a good team. If they are going to try to get another starter how about aiming a little higher and give yourself a chance if you make the playoffs.

What I hate about ALL pro sports today is that it's all about "making the playoffs", and the money that comes with that. But very few teams just "making the playoffs" are actually good enough to win the Super Bowl, the Stanley Cup, the NBA title or the World Series. Yes, the Cardinals have played well lately, but this isn't a World Series team. So, the real story this year is going to be, have they improved enough to develop into a World Series team next year. Lots of work to do to accomplish that. I just hope they'll make the moves needed to create that kind of team.

I remember some of the Cardinals writers commenting at the beginning of spring training that Walker looked significantly bigger, as in upper body muscle mass. If that's true, I have to wonder if that extra muscle mass has messed up his swing mechanics?

and yet .... we WIN. People who focus only on hitting do not see how the game is really won - with defense and pitching. The Dodgers are not running away with their division this year like they did in the past, even though they have one of the best hitting teams right now that the game has seen in 50 years. They have defensive issues, compounded by pitchers on IL, so the hitting is not making up for the difference. The glaring problem you talk of is not a problem at all. The outfield is making this team win more.

Some have longer leashes than others. Walker was sent down immediately both years. Gorman strikes out 50% of the time lately. If going down helps Walker, why not Gorman. I love both guys, but I don't understand the difference. Other guys wait forever like Prieto and Baker. Burleson/Baker is the future at first. I love Goldschmidt and Arenado, but the opportunity to take them to the World Series as Cardinals is closing. 😢 Youth has to be served, and more pitching must be traded for to be a playoff caliber team. I like the Zach Eflin idea and some of the other guys you mentioned. I personally don't think the Cardinals have the pieces to acquire any of the players. The farm system is depleted and unfortunately I believe the smartest thing the Cardinals should do for the benefit of the organization is to sell. They need to trade Helsley for the best young pitching available. The Cardinals will not give Helsley the money he will be owed after this awesome season and they don't have enough pitching to field the MLB roster for next year.

Any potential chance you think they work with Contreras to becoming a part time first baseman? His bat is good enough but you have the worry about his defense (although, unlike Herrera he has an arm) He's locked in, and after the fiasco last year, they have tainted the well at how other teams perceive him as a catcher (which was of course over blown by the media.... but when isn't it?) I think these surplus of talents at a position have consistently worked their way out for the most part. Between injuries and failure to develop, often times there isn't anyone being blocked. It's more of what we had the last couple of years where the performance just doesn't match the talent. (or when the talent realizes the performance, we've moved on already) I honestly think we've struggled with surplus of talent that worked out, much more on the infield than the outfield, and we've managed to work it out... Edman and Donovan on almost any other team would be starting infielders, and probably winning gold gloves at their position. (not that they haven't both already won one, my point is that they got moved out because of better options while being more than capable of playing the position)

That is why he's barely an average AAA player right now. A new organization will save his career and naturally he'll be a stud somewhere else because that is just the way things go. I just listened to your trade targets podcast and was disappointed that there was no mention of position players. While a starting pitcher could be used, especially in the playoffs, this team could use a big bat in the line up. Goldy and Arenado are not cutting it this year, and while Burleson and Donovan are hitting well, the line up has no hitter that the opposing teams fear. I don't see Nootbaar and/or Edman filling that role either. Maybe Contreras does, but I'm not holding my breath for him returning to form anytime soon.

Need outfield offense, how about Rooker from A's? Since Middleton, O'Brien, Robertson, Gallegos hasn't panned out we need a shut down reliever. Our relief staff has performed great, but their tongues are hanging out. We need a stud startser (Scherzer, Efflin, Eovaldi) A reliever( Mason Miller, Carlos Estevez, Trevor Richards, Kirby Yates) Offense centerfield Brent Rooker, Louis Roberts, Tommy Pham) Go for it with costly high caliber trades, if not, trade Veterans for our younger replacements.

If the Cards keep him, he'll under achieve. If they trade him to a team like Tampa he'll be a SuperStar. Let's not forget , Mozeliak having a problem with him hitting line drive ground balls. And wanting him to swing lower half of the ball. His pop outs and strikeouts went rampant after that. So Walker will probably be better off elsewhere.

Walker has been striking out at high rates even in AA ball, against players his own age. It's unlikely he will ever get much better. I think this launch angle excuse is falsehood, the real problem with his hitting is swing and miss.

Best trades we could make would be Oli and Mo for anyone. It has been musical chairs for three years now. They keep putting band-Aids on one position after another. Only thing that saves us is being in the Central. The only positions that have been locked up is 1st and 3rd and thats about over with.

One word for Walker...confidence! On that note, you tell someone to change their swing, send them down to AAA, demote them twice, "encourage" him to change his natural position, and expect him to be Hammering Hank in a year!? How much "patience" did they have for Bro-Neil after they cut him lose!? All this Walker trade talk is coming from the "best fans in baseball😂"?? Man it'd be a huge loss if so, but if it happens I hope Walker gets traded to a team that knows how to develop their players and JD Drew the Cardinals!__ 😂So, how much patience is Oli going to have batting Contreras 3rd?

The fact that Burly can stay healthy is enough to have won an OF spot. It would be a tragedy if they move Burly to the bench where he regresses and Noot/Edman cant stay healthy. It would also be a tragedy to trade away minor league talent just to improve this team to a solid WC #3 or #2 and get crushed in the WC round. This is not a team that's competitive enough to be buyers, regardless of the playoffs are in the future.

The Cardinals asked Jordan Walker to put the ball in the air and hit for more power, but how can you ask him to do something other no other players on your team can do, it seem like they are holding him to a higher standard than anyone else. There really messing the Cardinals up because the reason the fans came to the games is to see him and the other young players. If you go downtown you see Jordan Walkers banner on the light poles going to the game and he isn’t on the team. Bring him back so he can learn in the big leagues.
