    Gnome!! I'm glad you think so, honestly I need to make this version again at home, last time I made it I feel like I didn't have the proper ingredients, and I could do it more justice nowadays. The idea of a Three Dots recipe without orange juice is so appealing to me!

    I have made this recipe for the Three Dots and a Dash and I would caution anyone to start very small with the Allspice Dram. For me...1/4 oz was too overpowering of the other flavors. With just a barspoon it was still a dominant flavor.

    Oh yes, especially if it is St Elisabeth. The Hamilton Pimento Dram is better for the 1/4 amount, St Elisabeth can be extra potent. Thanks for the tip!

    Nice! Another non-rum Tiki drink, which is right up my alley. I'm wondering .... since you seem to enjoy the spicy notes from the Bourbon you've selected, I wonder about trying it with a Rye, which I would think would bring even more spicy goodness to the party. Cheers!

  • @CocktailFridays
    @CocktailFridays6 күн бұрын

    Oh man I would definitely recommend it with a Rye, it will butt up against the Orgeat in a nice way, and honestly since Rye is similar to Agricole rum (in grassiness), it will still fit in that Mai-Tai region of recipe-variation. Hope you enjoy!

    I'm always looking for non-Rum tiki. I enjoy the Dead Man's Handle, but I don't have pineapple liqueur; so, I'm thinking about trying this with apricot liqueur. How bad could it be? And then I looked around the internet and quickly found the Mexican Radio, from way back in 2008, made with 2 oz Reposado Tequila, 1⁄2 oz Cynar, 1⁄2 oz Apricot liqueur, and 2 dashes Bittermen's Xocolatl Mole Bitters. Now, I have several drinks to try! Cheers!

  • @CocktailFridays
    @CocktailFridays14 күн бұрын

    Absolutely! The history of the navy grog is in many ways the history of the modern cocktail itself, much like the history of the Old Fashioned or the Sazerac. It's also such a unique cocktail even in it's early 1900s form, that to see people riff with it's components is always fascinating to me, to see which elements they'll hold onto, and which to change, etc. I definitely think this one from Jason A is a masterpiece!

    Cinnamon syrup can be made at home thankfully, with cinnamon sticks and sugar and water, some good videos online for making it, but ya, the rest- you may have to do some subs, like potentially the mezcal for tequila or the Benedictine you could do drambuie or chartreuse or maybe even Cointreau

    Jimboooo. Indeed, these beasts go down too smoothly. It helps to go for the ones that lean into the bitter, it can help bring the spirits forward so they’re less disguised under the juice or syrup. Citrus forward, or ones with amaro can help with that, or super strong ones like old zombies or navy grog can be forced-sippers as well 😅
