L.A. Summer Cocktail with a Nighttime Riff | Cocktail Fridays

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This week we reverse engineer the day drink tiki recipe "Taken for Granted" as featured at the Beaudry Room at The Conrad in downtown Los Angeles. And, to prepare for fall, we reshake this unique cocktail into something better suited for a nighttime lounge bar that we call "Takin' Liberties".
Taken For Granted (Beaudry Room at Conrad Los Angeles)
1½ oz Old Forester 86 Bourbon
½ oz Dry Oloroso Sherry
½ oz Orange juice
½ oz Passion Fruit
¼ oz Cinnamon
Shake with ice, strain over chrushed ice in collins glass.
Sprinkle Citrus Ashes atop.
Takin' Liberties (original riff)
1 oz Old Forester 86 Bourbon
¾ oz Aged Demerara Rum
½ oz Dry Oloroso Sherry
½ oz Orange juice
½ oz Passion Fruit
¼ oz Cinnamon
¼ oz Averna Amaro
Shake with ice, strain over chrushed ice in collins glass.
Sprinkle Citrus Ashes atop.

Both of these sound great but leaning towards Takin Liberties, because of the Rum! LOL. Great video as always! Cheers

The citric ashes are definitely new to me. Really curious if their are better implementions. I will say, without even tasting them, I’m definitely far more interested in your evening riff. You had me at Amaro. Definitely gonna try that one. Cheers David! 🤙🏽

The amount of effort required for the ashes vs. the final effect seemed a bit extravagant and unnecessary to me as far as actual aromatic impact goes. At a fancy bar with really good mint to hold the ashes themselves, the effect is a fun visual one for sure, but for home use, can probably do without. And ya, the original / the daytime one to me is closer in attitude to an aperol spritz, our riff is designed to give it a bit more body, and I think we pulled it off! Thanks for watching as always, Vino!! Cheers to you!

@@CocktailFridays wildwood? We’re in ocean city, Maryland… we’ll take the ferry over and meet you there…. Sparkle would tell me that I don’t care about seeing you and just want the excuse of getting my molasses pops from Douglas fudge…

Have you ever heard of dried black lemons? They are used in Persian dishes. They are fragrant, bitter, slightly smoky and are used to bring acidity to a dish. Maybe ditch the effort of making something that looks like charcoal and replace it with some fragrant ground black lemons? Keep up the great work.

VERY nice, buy this raises several questions: 1) Do I have to wear some type of robe when sipping on a "Takin' Liberties"?? 2) Both of these seem awesome!! (Not really a question) 3)Is it Fall yet???
