Gantt's Tomb: Modernized Zombie Recipe | Cocktail Fridays

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This week we feature another killer cocktail from Death & Co, this time from Brian Miller, one of the original master mixologists from the flagship location in Manhattan. Brian claims this was an attempt to make a new tiki cocktail in reference to Donn Beach's Zombie that would be not too sour or too sweet, and we think this is a masterfully balanced cocktail that Gantt himself would be proud of.
Gantt's Tomb by Brian Miller
¾ oz (22 ml) Pineapple Juice
½ oz (15 ml) Lemon juice
½ oz (15 ml) Orange juice
½ oz (15 ml) Simple syrup
¼ oz (8 ml) Pimento Dram
1 oz (30 ml) Gosling’s Black Seal Rum
1 oz (30 ml) Rittenhouse 100-proof rye
½ oz (15 ml) 151 proof dememerara Rum
Shake with ice, serve over crushed ice in collins glass.
Garnish with mint sprig.

For sure!! As you probably already know, it comes from one of the two tiki-masters of the Tri-State area, Brian Miller (with Ryan Liloia as the other), excellent balance! Cheers, thanks for watching!

Thanks so much, Sean! It was a very tricky opening to shoot! Glad you enjoyed it. And ya, always good to have LemonHart on hand, I also love Hamilton 151, works the same! It's nice to have in the just-in-case ingredients cabinet 😅 Cheers!

Zombies are so crazy to me, they're such a specific non-specific recipe, I feel like most tiki bars I've been to (and I've been to a lot...) all have their own house zombie, or some variation of it, and they're all interesting in their own way. But yes, this is one of my favorite zombie variations I've ever experienced. super fun! Thanks for watching, Doc! You're the best!

I'm judging you over the use of passionfruit at the start of the video... And also the start time... People were all like, watch this live show, and I went in and then saw a notification that said, cocktail fridays... So, priorities, right? Here I am... Then I sad, because I didn't have passionfruit from the open... then I was happy that I actually did... Then I was sad that it wasn't even used... Have crushed ice I wanted to use up, so this will be made tonight or tomorrow!

Haha! I condone this judgement, as I have absolutely no excuse-- especially because we filmed the damn intro AFTER the main section was done... so we KNEW we wouldn't be using passion fruit.. and yet I chose it anyway for the intro.. apparently my brain was still evaporated from drinking this mean cocktail. But yes, I hope you love it, it's definitely a favorite of mine! Cheers, Matt!!

You’re absolutely right 😅 I suppose this is more “zombie inspired” in Brian millers words, rather than being a riff. I guess it still kicks like a zombie at least! I hope you enjoy it! 🍹cheers!

This was a fun episode to make, and basically doing a drive-by piece on Brian Miller, from my favorite cocktail franchise-establishment. Normally OJ is a flavor-killer, but the folks at D&C found a way to make it wonderful. of course they did! Cheers, Robert!

Yes! I love how particularly balanced this recipe is, definitely an out-of-the-gate masterpiece from the early days of Death n Co. and ya we’re planning on making a good Demerara syrup once this current batch runs out 😂 sometimes we’re just lazy though and pick up good high quality syrup when we pass by it in the store, just depends on our mood I guess 😅 thanks for watching as always, Ann!
