NOTE: I was reminded by @mmaurice100 , Chambord is actually raspberry liqueur, not blackberry! So, something like Creme de mure would be far more accurate than what I did in this episode. Sorry all!

It might actually have helped the drink.

Ha, I thought chambord was raspberry too, but I trusted you…. Not telling my wife I used chambord in it, but it still tasted really good
yum!! 🍹
Ah, a classically Classic of a classic!

Absolutely, I was so excited to visit 'ground zero' of rum runners. The updated recipe is a pretty solid killer, always enjoyable. Cheers bud!
That looks like a fun venue

Super fun spot, actually much larger than is depicted in this vid, lots of fun places to enjoy the cockatils on-site! And of course.. has lots of boat slips to boot! Cheers, Andrew!
wow great sounding drink. looks like a fun place to hang out. love that you got all the crowd into it. cheers.

Thank you, Doc! Yes, seeing the Postcard/Holiday Isle in person was amazing, it's enormous! I love their hilarious sign "The original tiki since forever", bit of a bold statement, but not entirely untrue. hah. And ya, I owe a big thanks to my brother, who managed to get that whole crowd involved for the Cheers! Thanks for watching, Doc!
I muddled 3 blackberries with about a bar spoon of demerara syrup, then added the rest of the ingredients. I used Bacardi light and Pussers rum. 😋 My wife said it was a keeper! Thank you!

Wow! Honestly, that sounds like worlds best rumrunner, fresh blackberries with demerara, and pussers! That is awesome, thank you for sharing!
Love rum runners, the recipe I have also include a 3/4 oz measure of lime juice which I find helps balance all the other sweet components but I see how others would prefer it without. Looks like you had a great time!!

Oh that is interesting! Ya, that would be worth trying for sure, Rum Runners are infamously sweet. Maybe you could call it "Rum Walker" or something silly, to indicate its a less-sugar-forward riff. Cheers, Stephane!
Love that you got the whole crowd involved in the Cheers! That’s so awesome! Would have been cool to see a comparison between both version of the cocktail as you described, you know, for science. I’ll have to check this place out next time I’m on FL. Awesome video, as usual. Cheers, pal!

yea! Frankly the so-called "real original" recipe looks... super terrible to me. It seems like it would just be an explosion of sugar with imperceptible rum. But, would still be fun to try-- and then pour down the drain 😆 Cheers, Vino!

Awesome!! Can't go wrong with a good RumRunner, to me it goes well alongside a NOLA Hurricane!
Omg.. how fun! I don’t know who to pronounce giffards either. Yeah, who gives a 💩I literally made the rum runner and a riff on it last week. Potent AF! Looks like you guys had a blast. I’ll try this one again over the weekend! Cheers to you both!

Oo I’m curious what your rum runner riff was! I like testing the limits of what this beast can taste like, sort of like navy grog riffs. But yes, was a great time!!! Thanks, Ann! 🎉
I definitely love a good Rum Runner! Unfortunately liquor stores around here think that DeKuyper's nuclear yellow banana liqueur is the only one out there! I usually sub it out for a homemade banana syrup. Happy National Cocktail Day and Cheers!
@CocktailFridays
Жыл бұрын
Ha! Yes, nuclear yellow banana is a great description! 😆 Tempus Fugit Creme de Banane is the big one of course, but Giffards is pretty dang good. and DeKuyper is not great, but at least it's not "99 bananas!". Homemade banana syrup sounds like the most amazing option. Cheers!
My friend just gave me a recipe for a rum runner! Not sure where he got it, but it is similar. Added to my list

Awesome! The Rum Runner remains one of my all time lifetime favorites, when a nice balanced recipe is used like this, it can't miss! Cheers, Robert!
Great video!!! I def need to try this!! The only banana liqueur I have is 99 Bananas!!! I hope that doesn't screw up this cocktail!!! CHEERS!!!
@CocktailFridays
Жыл бұрын
Thanks, Tim!! Oh yes, Rum Runner is one of my favs. 99 Bananas in my experience is verrry potent and can become a diva spirit, I'd probably do like 3/4 or 1/2 oz to try and forego the syrupy-nature of the flavor of 99 bananas, but either way I'd be curious to see how it turned out!
Good job getting all of those people at the end! I feel we should make this non-frozen, but if I'm doing a lot of work outside this weekend and it's hot out, maybe a frozen version mid-day...
@CocktailFridays

Thanks for watching, Matt! Yes it was hilarious and exciting getting the *entire* bar to cheers. I owe that idea to my brother. Strangely I find I like the over-ice versions of the rum runner, maybe it's a dilution thing, I'm not sure, but you kinda cant lose either way! Cheers!

@@CocktailFridays aww, now I want a brother…. I have a sister, but I’m jealous of her, because she has a brother that has good ideas too…. Her brother is the emergency contact for her children, when they don’t even live in the same State, and they have a lot of family closer to them…. I should remind her how useless she is on Easter…

@@CocktailFridays I would never have the social skill to pull that off! Great job! I've been through the Keys a few times, but haven't been here. Actually, most of the places I stopped at last time were pretty lousy. I will definitely check this out next time.

@@OneDrinkThreeBars Oh noo! Sorry you had a bit of a bummer time! I think I definitely enjoy the environments more than the cocktails themselves. Sunset Grille was awesome, for example, but man were the drinks ultra-sweet. And Gilbert's as well.. such an epic place, drinks actually not too bad there! But ya, Postcard / Holiday Isle Tiki is worth visiting just for the historical value... and I'd recommend getting the shaken-with-ice version there, frozen one is also ultra-sweet. Cheers!

@@CocktailFridays We went to Sunset Grille and Sundowners in Key Largo. The scenery was awesome at both of them, and the sweetest cat lives at Sundowners. They used to have good food there, but last time we went, it was really meh! I've had some pretty good cocktails in Miami on my trips down that way though!
Tried it both ways, and my picky wife agreed rocks was better than frozen…
@CocktailFridays
Жыл бұрын
😂 I may have to agree, it really depends on the venue to be honest. I've had it frozen at some places where it's really fantastic.. and other places it just like an overly-sweet slushie
I might be wrong, and I often am, but I think Chambord is a raspberry liqueur as opposed to blackberry
@CocktailFridays
Жыл бұрын
D'oh!! You are RIGHT!! Yes!! I often mix-up Chambord as a blackberry, but something like Creme de cassis would actually be far more accurate. My bad! Thank you for pointing that out, I'll write it as a pinned comment / in the desc.
i don't wanna be a smart ass... but blackberry liquor = creme de mure... cassis = blackcurrant... similar but still two different flavours :)
