That's No Moon: An original Star Wars cocktail l | Cocktail Fridays
In honor of May the 4th, we've created our own riff on Brian Maxwell's "Death Star" cocktail. Combining elements from the original Chief Lapu Lapu, we attempt to create a drink that has a nice balance of sweet, tartness, and funk. Hopefully you find it impressive.. most impressive.

TIM! Haha. Thank you as always, buddy. You're so generous!
I think cinnamon syrup is my favorite of all syrups. It just brings so much to a cocktail. So good. This riff sounds amazing and it’s just so fun to use these mugs we have in a video. I’ll try this one for sure this summer. Cheers to both of you. Have a great week!

Thanks so much, Ann! Indeed, whenever I see cinnamon syrup in something, I'm like "welp, that is on it's way to being great.." Same with dark amaro. Hope you get a chance to try it, and hope you dig! Cheers!
Great name for a drink and that tiki mug is perfect!

Thank you, Andrew!! Yes, was quite the gift from my good friend, it's a rather perfect size for a rum-barrel style recipe! Cheers
Loved the way you replaced the death star with the tiki mug!!

Thank you, Robert! This was yet another intro idea I had where in my mind it was "easy".. and then when I started working on it, it was about 50x more difficult to pull off than I realized. haha. Same thing happened with the most recent "twilight zone" Intro.. easy in my head.. WAY harder in execution. All of this just to say, I appreciate you enjoying it!
That is the drink we're looking for... This is great! Now, I'm bummed out that I don't have a death star tiki mug... But I have a big cookie jar, could scale this up for a punch bowl sized amount!

Haha, I would say maybe try a wee-sized version first before diving into the full punch bowl size. I was commenting to Vino, that I'm still not super sure about the use of Calvados in this.. I might try a different kind of brandy or cognac even.. its a bit sharp (the apple) and sorta goes against the rest of the cocktail.. I'd either reduce it or swap it maybe.. but I'd be curious to see what you think!!
That. Was. AWESOME! Love the editing and, being a Star Wars fan, I gotta try this one out! Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

I always enjoy your videos, so much fun. I have a few more Star Wars old fashioned coming out this month. I am planning on doing a riff on Death Star recipe I saw. Love "that's no moon" riff you did. That mug is awesome by the way. keep these coming. thanks for sharing. cheers. May the 4th be with you.

Thanks, Doc! I'll keep an eye out for the SW Old Fashioned! Ya I had been looking for an opportunity to use that mug, this was perfect! Cheers to you, bud, May the 4th be with you indeed!
Haha! The Jar-Jar shade ain't right. 😅 Great editing job, as usual (getting tired of hearing that yet?). I was really hoping you used the Cantina music and you DID! My man! That tiki mug is super dope. You had me at calvados. Not sure I've ever seen it in a tiki drink before. This is moving up in my to-drink list. Cheers pal! 😉🤙🏾

Haha, I do feel a BIT bad about the jar-jar joke. Thanks for the kind words as always, (I never tire of hearing it ;P). I will be honest, in retrospect I'm not sure if the calvados plays well in this recipe, I might try a different kind of Brandy in the future.. I think the strong apple flavor fights against the direction of the cocktail, so maybe I'll update this recipe in the future... (maybe theres a reason theres no calvados in most tiki drinks..? haha) Anyhow, thanks for watching! Cheers, Vino!
In the future, I see this being sipped! awesome video as always!

Haha! Thanks, Tim! I hope you enjoy it! The calvados is a bit of a wildcard element in there, I might consider subbing it for just regular brandy or cognac, but would be curious to see what you think! Cheers, bud!
Great content. thank you for sharing. have a great day!❤👍
What about pineapple instead of orange juice
@CocktailFridays

Absolutely. Personally I find OJ can mute the flavors of a cocktail since it's heavier on the sugary side and lighter on the citrus tang, so I think swapping Pineapple in can only help the flavor. Hope it goes well! Cheers!!
Have to say that’s delicious! But I want to also try the Death Star but i cant seem to find it online…only some jägermeister one

Ah yes, it's only available in the Minimalist Tiki book, sadly :( I tried looking for Brian Maxwell's recipe online but.. does not exist, maybe I can comment it here directly, from the book

@@CocktailFridays thanks man
Why do you always mix all ingredients in a glass, only to pour it all into the shaking tin? Might as well just pour it into the shaking tin directly? Or is there a specific reason for it? I'd be lazy to wash that extra glassware.
@CocktailFridays

Hi! I only mix the ingredients in the glass beforehand so that the audience can more clearly see how the mix comes together, it's purely a visual effect for the show. Off-camera I just combine everything straight in the tin and shake. Only reason to combine in the glass is if making a stirred cocktail. So ya, you're right! 🙌
