  If I may offer a piece of feedback for future videos: If you're going to show gaming performance, be sure to put the minimum/maximum frame rates as static figures somewhere, probably under the title of the one you're testing. It's almost impossible to read the performance overlay when watching on a phone. Good review otherwise.

  Looks like that model has a faster CPU, an RTX 4070 and a better screen, so that seems like a pretty fair price for a brand new laptop with good build quality and those specs.   I don't think weight will be an issue at all as it's only a bit over 4lbs which is quite good for a 16-inch laptop. You will need a fairly large bag, but anything that works for a 16-inch Macbook Pro should work for the G16.

  thank you for this review, i've been looking into some laptops as an investment for college that have good color accuracy and performs well in gaming. It's currently my top option against some of the other models like the 2023 g14 or 2024 omen transcend 14.

  I've recently been traveling and have done more photo editing exclusively on the G16's screen than I had before. I've realized that while it has a neutral tone unlikely to cause major color balancing issues, it's more washed out/undersaturated than I had realized, which could cause issues dialing in color on vibrant imagery. While I still think it is accurate enough to make content that isn't noticeably off color, it isn't ideal if you're studying design or another field where precise color usage will be evaluated as a factor in your assignments. Both the 2023 G14 and HP Omen Transcend will be more accurate.

  I think not, especially since this is the 2023 model. You can get a newer model with a better GPU with that budget.

  how are your temps so low?? i bought the same laptop about 6 months ago and during gaming my gpu temps reach 85 and cpu temps around 94 95

  sometimes units ship with terrible thermal paste application from the factory and the whole laptop suffers because of it. consider changing it. might help

  Can't believe I forgot to mention this in the video. Fan noise is very good on this model. Even when connected to an external display, it's totally silent on the 'Silent' Armory Crate profile and mostly silent on 'Balanced' in normal use including 4k KZread. It does get a bit noisy gaming as you'd expect and you'll hear it for more demanding tasks like video editing as well.

  I received the laptop, and it's excellent. However, I must point out that the screen gets hot from the fans. I'm not sure if this will have long-term effects.

  I think people are misleading very much themselves about a possible "heat issue". Every single gaming laptop will have a considerable higher temperature since it's a small device designed with dedicated graphics inside, and that means you'll need to do some tweaks based on common sense. If you understand that most of the air flow comes from the bottom of your device, you probably know that it will be totally blocked by the table and will certainly have more concentrated hot air inside of it. You literally can reduce around 10 degrees simply putting it on a stand. I personally use a mushroom stand because it's way more portable, but you can do it with everything that could raise your laptop UP. About the laptop heating more the CPU when in iGPU mode, it's simple as it is. You will get more concentrated power inside the iGPU, since it's rendering everything you use now, instead of sharing most of its power with the dGPU, and then achieving a good balance between both components. So basically, since your CPU is being more used with iGPU mode, it will heat up more than being in dGPU mode or even Optimus mode. Nothing related to internal issues or something like that, it's just how it's supposed for happen. Also, i really don't see a single problem with your temperatures in iGPU mode. 55C is actually a good range for temperature in idle, depending from each model. BUT like i said before, you could get way better temperatures using it on a stand. Probably around 42 degrees, i think. And if you haven't did before, you're probably lacking a driver called SmartDisplayControl, which enables a option to lock it to 60 FPS when on battery. There is no option available in your video, so that's another issue for you. Always use Power Saving Mode on Windows, and use Silent Mode instead of Windows mode, since Silent mode have some additional tweaks to reduce CPU performance/energy usage. It's a nice review indeed, kinda liked your editing and video quality, but the thermals part is completely wrong and probably made some people really think this laptop have a heating issue and give up from it.

  Thanks, man. Your demo is way better than the "manual." To highlight the level of my intellect, I used a bungee cord to tie down the pump in the pouch to my bike cargo rack. When I took it out of the pouch the next morning it was in the "on" position and the battery was almost dead. Fortunately, this all happened in my basement, but a lesson learned and a cautionary tale in the unlikely event that there are other people sharing my level of intellect.

  Note for those looking for used X1 Gen 7: The WiFI is not upgradeable, so you are stuck with soldered WiFi 5 AC. If you need to upgrade to WiFi 6/6E and do not mind inferior speaker, then better to go for the Gen 6 instead since you can still replace the M.2 WiFi card there to WiFi 6E.

  Don't have it anymore to test, but this video with an MX350, which is barely faster than the MX150, looks like it should be able to handle it ok: kzread.info/dash/bejne/jHhhtbBme8Kygc4.html That said, unless you have a can't pass kind of deal, I'd try to find a deal on something with a 1650. They can go pretty cheap, especially in auctions.

  The USB gets created, but when the check executes afterwards, it reaches 99% and fails (never says WHY it failed).
