    Bleed fork numerous times before checking oil level, waste of time otherwise

  • @TeamProCycle
    @TeamProCycle3 күн бұрын

    Thank you for watching but, it's not a waste of time. This is a practice that serves two-fold. First, we want all riders to utilize this technique in the event there is an air pocket down in the fork that would prevent the proper level of fork oil from being achieved. You can pour the proper amount of fork oil into a measuring device and achieve the same result, but not every rider has means to a measuring device. Second, by cycling the forks you're ensuring the fork is functioning as it should. It's better to catch it at this stage of the repair / upgrade, than to bolt everything back together only to find out down the road that something wasn't assembled properly. Let's not forget that trapped air can get hot under friction and prevent oil from lubricating internal components properly, leading to premature wear of parts.

    Can you explain the wheel and tire setup didn't know the tw had many other options 😮

  • @TeamProCycle
    @TeamProCycle4 күн бұрын

    This is a wheel set that we built and offer on our website for the TW200. The stock rear wheel size does not allow for any real options other than the stock tire and a couple more street oriented options. The front is almost in the same boat, except some riders are willing to fit a designated "Rear" 18 inch tire on the front wheel. While this is okay for some, it is not okay for others. We decided to offer a 19" x 2.5" front wheel for better / larger range of tire options. Plus, with a 19" front, you gain an easier transition over larger obstacles. For the rear tire we chose to go with a 17" x 3.5" wheel. This size offers an abundant amount of varying tire options. Some options we found were cheaper than the stock tire. Another benefit to choosing our wheel setup is that the wheels & spokes we use are much stronger than stock, and we true the wheel to a tighter spec than O.E..

    Don’t work with stock handlebars

  • @TeamProCycle
    @TeamProCycle25 күн бұрын

    I've personally tested a few hand guards on the stock TW200 handlebars, and the Barkbuster brand do fit, others not so much or not at all. I will say there is not a whole lot of adjustment, but if you do have the stock bars and can't upgrade to a different bar, the Barkbuster will be a good choice. I have noticed over the years some riders place their handguards a little too high and maybe that's where some T-dub owners have run into problems. I do plan to test a set of CB500x Barkbuster handguards as they look a little more promising, but only time will tell.

    Yes, the Clarke tank should have no issues being installed on any model year of the XR650L. It is definitely a smoother installation compared to the Acerbis tank and we don't like the idea of the fuel tank smothering the rectifier. That's a great question. We've never come across this personally to evaluate the problem, but have heard of others having this issue. However, I haven't seen any remedies / reasons online. I would pull the float bowl off and start inspecting everything for the culprit. I suspect something is slowing the plunger from returning to the up-right position. This tank looks to be the simplest tank to install. How does the right side of the tank drain into the left for total fuel consumption? Do I have to lean it over of construct some device hose inside the tank to equally syphon the fuel?

  • @TeamProCycle
    @TeamProCycle2 ай бұрын

    That's a great question! The Clarke tank will potentially leave some fuel on the right-hand side, but the logic here is you can lean the bike to get the remaining fuel to transfer and/or the fuel should slosh itself to the other side while riding down the trail. So, a combination of the two factors should allow you to get the most out of the fuel in your tank.

    What's your opinion on progressive springs? I considered doing what you're doing but feel like getting completely new modern forks would be the better option for being fully adjustable and maintenance wise. Love watching this stuff though, you guys really deserve a million+ subs

  • @TeamProCycle
    @TeamProCycle2 ай бұрын

    Progressive springs are a great addition to any bike. We see them being more suited to the mild trail rider or those that are more street focused. There is a lot of debate around whether or not straight rate is better vs progressive. It comes down to what you're wanting out of the bikes suspension. Modern forks are awesome and work immensely better at higher speeds than the damper rod system found in the DR650. The key take away here is at higher speeds. We've tested RMZ450 forks and DRZ/sm forks on the DR650 compared to a set of modded stock forks (correct spring rate & DDC's) like you see here in the video, and to be honest, there wasn't a noticeable difference other than high cost to convert your forks over. The DR650 is a big & heavy dual sport. How often will you actually be going fast on single track trails? By all means, if anyone wants to convert their forks over, please do so and have fun. The inverted forks work great, we just can't justify the extra cost for the added performance we may rarely see.

    We purchased a 134 link chain when we installed the swingarm extensions from JNS with the stock 14/50 sprocket combo. A general rule of thumb, is about +/- 2 teeth is one chain link in the respective direction. You go up 4 teeth in the rear, you'll need 2 extra links.

    Yes, they are for our "Tall Rider" kit. Many of our taller riders have complained over the years about how low the stock bars are and the negative riding position it puts them in. This gives more than 5 inches of rise to put most riders over 6 foot into a neutral and more comfortable riding position. It's a pretty neat kit, a little odd looking, but once you ride a TW setup with the kit you'll begin to understand why.
