XR650L Clarke 4.7 Gal. Fuel Tank Install

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this "How-To", Rob & Tom go over the steps needed to remove and install a new Clarke Fuel Tank on a Honda XR650L.
The Clarke tank is a perfect upgrade for the XR650L. We want more range out of these bikes (heck any bike for that matter), but the XR650L can be a bit top heavy so, we went with a balance of capacity and weight. The Clarke tank fits flawlessly, holds 4.7 gallon of fuel, and with the natural color option we can monitor our fuel levels easily out on the trail.

Excellent video 🇺🇲🎉🍾🇺🇲 Do you know the weight difference between tanks (OEM x Clarke x IMS). Thank you so much for assisting me. Keep producing more videos about the XR

Looking at Acerbis installs it looks like the install process is a little more involved, is the Clarke install as straightforward as this video for all years?

Yes, the Clarke tank should have no issues being installed on any model year of the XR650L. It is definitely a smoother installation compared to the Acerbis tank and we don't like the idea of the fuel tank smothering the rectifier. We are trying to work with Acerbis in regard to the poor fitment on the XR650L tanks.

This tank looks to be the simplest tank to install. How does the right side of the tank drain into the left for total fuel consumption? Do I have to lean it over of construct some device hose inside the tank to equally syphon the fuel?

That's a great question! The Clarke tank will potentially leave some fuel on the right-hand side, but the logic here is you can lean the bike to get the remaining fuel to transfer and/or the fuel should slosh itself to the other side while riding down the trail. So, a combination of the two factors should allow you to get the most out of the fuel in your tank.
