I used the fishing weight on my DR660 and old Yamaha front wheels - learned this from one of your other videos - worked great! Thanks!

Great tech tip guys! You can also balance the wheels on the bike by removing the caliper so there is no brake drag, and no chain on the rear. I have a balancer stand but as you showed, you don't need one to do the job. I've been using Ride-On in my tires for years on several bikes after researching online for the best puncture sealant. Slime always gets poor reviews in comparison tests and Ryan at Fort Nine did a recent video comparison of several and there is a new one that bumped Ride-On out of first place. I first used Ride-on for a 3,300 mile trip to hopefully give me that little extra time to get safely off the road if I got a flat. That never was needed nor have I had a flat (yet!) on any of my bikes with the sealant in the tube. I don't think it will seal it up completely, but just slowing down a leak instead of a blowout at speed is well worth the money to me. I was also surprised that it actually does work to balance the wheel, if you have enough of it in the tube, and if the wheel isn't way out of balance. I balance the wheel without the tire mounted first, and tape any weight needed on, then balance it again with the tire mounted. If I am going to put Ride-On in the tube I balance the wheel first because you can NOT balance the wheel with weights after putting any sealant in the tube since the stuff moves, very slowly.... Good job guys!

Great advice! One of our biggest things is to make sure they are balanced.

Great video, some tips though; Most tires put a paint dot at the lightest point, it makes it easier (less weight) to balance if it is aligned with the valve stem. I also always use painters tape to put the stick on weights on first, once the balance weight is known then they can be permanently affixed. I found the weight sometimes needs to be adjusted, if it’s stuck, so are you…I just mark on the wheel or rim (on tape) the beginning and end of the correct amount of weight.

I've heard a lot of mechanics absolutely HATE Slime, but don't mind other products (one recommended I use Ride-On instead). Have you any experience with alternatives to Slime? Or was "slime" a generic term meant to cover a wide variety of products?

We've heard mixed reviews on the use of Slime, but not enough negative feedback to warrant removing it from our website. When we say "Slime", it's used a little more loosely as in, most major liquid tire sealants.
