A little update for you guys. In July we I raced in the 24hrs of Lemons endurance race and had to quarantine for 2 weeks after. In the meantime, since I couldn't film, I was working on editing videos and planning out content. I have a dent removal video coming out next and then the endurance race video coming out right after. I am still alive, just life is getting in the way of getting stuff done sometimes. Hopefully you can understand and hopefully you enjoyed this video which has been requested since the engine super clean video! @MrCOLTSR2 Have you ever produced video content, taken the time to painstakingly go through raw video footage, get good shots, say what you mean and want to say clearly, and put together a presentation that gets to the point, shows what you need to know, without an audience getting bored, and doing a spot on job at all of that? I used to be a little salty at YTers making shit tons of money for making dumb videos, but 1 - this isn't a dumb video, Chris makes videos that actually help regular people keep their things nice, and 2 - having done video work myself, I know some of these guys work a ton to get good content out, and 3 - if these vids entertain us, why shouldn't they be paid? Actors/Actresses do... it's just entertainment for them acting some silly scene in front of a screen.

Ive been a professional detailer for about 6 years and just to add a quick tip--- Home Depot sells these huge foam cushions for like $6 that you can use to put the wheel on when laying it flat on your driveway. Otherwise rocks and such can scratch the surface of the rim, depending on the design. In a pinch, you can still cut up a cardboard box and lay it flat! Chris you are the man!

5:20 Chris, a good tip for you for removing the tyres safely: Always loosen up the nuts a little bit before lifting the car on the jack; this ensures that you don't apply unnecessary force on the car or push it off the jack once it is on it. If you loosen the nuts before lifting the car, after lifting it, the only thing which is left to do is to just loosen the nuts up with a cross (plus sign) nuts tightener/loosener! It works like a charm! This way, we avoid applying force, pressure or pushing car too much when it is lifted on the jack later. 😇👍🏼
@chrisfix
10 күн бұрын
If you're doing it by hand, yes, but in this case I was able to just impact all the nuts off so it's not a big deal to pre loosen
@syedarmaghanhassan4652

@chrisfix thank you for your reply. Yes, absolutely right, and a good point. I do it manually. Even with a drill, I would still pre-loosen them up! The reason is that you have really stable Hydrollic Jack, and even a second Jack-Stand to make it even more stable. I myself, and I assume many other people use the ordinary jack.. you know the one with which you just go round and round, spinny spinny? @StevenBanks123

I “specifically didn’t clean my wheels for two years” as well … just not for a video. Seriously, I never thought about cleaning the inside surface. That is extra work but would pay dividends per brake dust adhesion.
I should've known that the man who removed the seats to super clean the interior would also remove the wheels _and_ clean their insides as well. Once you attempt any of Chris's videos you realize that while he does make it look easy, it's a lot of work compared to what you might have done otherwise yet it's very accessible. That being said, what he teaches instills both competence and confidence which is rare nowadays. We forget that he condenses _years_ of his knowledge and practice and shares some of the lessons he's learned for free and that's truly altruistic. We don't see the off-camera, back breaking, dirty work (look at the legs of those trousers) you do from which you keep producing content. Thanks for all you do!

as a professional detailer of 11 years, this is a GREAT video for weekend warriors/beginners, the only comment i'd say is please be careful with PLASTIDIP and MATTE wheels, you have to use a special wheel cleaner for those otherwise you can damage the finish of the wheel. also, to remove tar, just use a clay bar, simple and fast. use soapy water and rub the clay bar back and forth and you're good to go, once the clay bar is looking contaminated, just knead it to reveal a new area. also while compounding, make sure to follow up with polish. a ceramic spray/restorer only lasts 1 month with proper care.

My arms and back are killing me, but at 72 at long as I can get in and out I keeping it. The brush on the wheels with wheel cleaner was gold. The spray wax on the fender wells was great, the leaf blower to get the wet off worked like a charm and micro fiber towels for dry cleaning was magic. It took two and 1/2 hours but the car looks nearly brand new. I had to skip some parts especially the detailing. Just too worn out. But I am a believer Young Chris Fix and a new subscriber. Thank you so much Dennis in Virginia

As someone who used to detail cars for a living, I appreciate this. You also do way better than I ever have and I will use these tips on my new car to hopefully prevent it from ever getting bad lol
I love every video I've watched so far. I wish you could give my beloved Subaru WRX wagon a makeover. It has been great to drive for 23 years, but it can use a makeover. I don't have the tools you have, but I've learned a lot, so I'll apply the tricks I've learned from you. Thanks so much for all the wonderful and helpful videos.
Love watching your video you give great care detailing advice. Very informative, great energy, and easy to understand. Side not can you use the cleaner on the wheel while it is attached to the wheel
Fantastic video. Very well explained, very methodical. I've been cleaning the rims on my car for over 40 years and use, essentially, your method. Cleaning the barrel of the wheel is essential if you want that "looks like new" look. Great job!

Great video as always Chris! One thing that has changed how I clean everything is drill brushes. Typically they come in a three pack, ones a big round, a small round, and one that is a longer brush. They go on a drill and now you can clean extremely fast, your hand thanks you, and the results are incredible. I understand not everyone has a drill, but get one for other jobs. Bonus points is you can use the same brushes in your house. The crap that gets built up in your shower? Literally 2 minutes and it's gone.

They scratch the crap out of your paint and are usually of Dubious quality I find. I suppose with enough suds and attention damage could be avoided

@@shanegrant2144 yeah i agree. I wouldnt use drill brushes anywhere near the outside of my car. But they're better for carpet and cloth seats
I am still learning a lot of tricks for detailing, but the clay bar on the wheels is new to me. Great stuff Chris

Man I thought I was OCD with my wheels but this takes it to another level! I mean touchup paint down in the lugwells! Where the lugs hide most of it, and what's left is deep in shadow - bravo! I personally can't take this amount of time on each wheel but I admire the thoroughness.
@pinut187

You basically only have to do this once so thoroughly.

I feel the touch up in lug wells is also futile, since tightening the lugs will scratch the paint again.
Bruh!! It worked great!! Granted my car wasn't that old but the recommendations and method made my rims and tires sparkling 🎉 thanks a mil!!
Hey 👋 just wanted to say that I live in Ohio and I’ve tried so hard all my life to keep the family vehicles as clean and shiny as i possibly could with all these new products over the last few years it’s hard to understand sometimes as to what to use and a huge thanks cris you have shown me a few things that I can use to help my personal detailing shining much appreciated
Only thing missing on the video is that at 11:40 you need to be careful when flipping your wheels face-down. First time I took the wheels for a deep clean, I actually damaged the face of the wheel due to it resting against the floor... :( My tip for this is to use an old rubber floor mat.

I don't think I've ever spent the time to thanks you for the sheer smount of work you put in. You sparked my love for mecanical stuff. I started working on my car watching your videos. I found a passion in working on mecanical stuff there and decided to go back to school here in Québec as a Technician in mecanical ingeneering. I've been working as a mecanic in a plastic thermo-forming shop and the concepts you ilustrates and the good habits you show in your videos is something I try to apply everyday on the job. As we say in Québec : Tu as fais une criss de bonne job! ;) thanks man!
You went above and beyond with this. Came out amazing! Makes me want to tackle my wheels!
Just wow. Commendable dedication, effort and attention to detail.
You did a detailed wheel cleaning years ago. I was impressed back then with your ability to instruct. Your even better now.
Man, these videos are sooo satisfying to watch! Who has a problem with a completely clean vehicle? No one! Great job, Chris!
Why am I not surprised someone as detailed as this as made detail video which is incredibly detailed. Amazing work.
Wow. I have NEVER seen a detailed clean like that and I'm autistic! I also cant wait to bring my beloved truck tires back to beautiful! Thanks Chris!
Just stumbled across this video! Can't believe how easy it is. Will be giving it a go once the weather clears up here in the UK

What I like the most is that ChrisFix always makes fairly simple, easy to follow and clear videos for beginners, yet always a unique and new topic. Thanks ChrisFix, I do believe in car mechanics but if you don't understand cars, half of the mechanics / car shops are more than ready to rip you off.
I just started going to driving lessons and I've been dreaming about driving around with my uncle's jeep, and since he has passed away its just been sitting in the driveway for almost 4 years now, and this channel is really a motivation boost to pass my driving lessons and get my uncle's jeep fixed up and thank you soooo so much for accidentally showing up on my yt page I really enjoy these videos!!!

I can confidently say I will never be able to get my wheels looking as good as yours, mainly because I live in NYC and don't have a driveway- but also cause your patience and attention to detail are second to none! Great video- while I may not be supercleaning my wheels anytime soon I will definitely use the tips you gave here the next time I hit the car wash! Thank you so much
I think Chris must suffer from some sort of compulsive obsession, but damn, it's probably the only way to be so focused on so many details. The editing and teaching techniques are really at another level. From Chile, huge respects and thanks for these tremendous tutorials!!!!

Thanks for inspiring me to really get into cleaning and repairing my car. You break down each step and make it easy to follow. I also like that I can see every product you’re using as I can normally get all the Meguiars products at my local auto store here in Australia. Thanks again Chris! 👍🏼🦘
Thanks so much for the in-depth explanation; for all the people that want to take their car to a detailer instead of diy- this is why they charge what they do, if you get a quality job done all this knowledge and attention to detail is really what you’re paying for Also, Chris we need the “Chrisfix academy” like a brick and mortar place to diy our cars, a garage where we can work on our cars instead of paying someone
Aloha Chris. Just wanted to say thank you for the content you put out. Three years ago I could barely change my brakes, but thanks to your videos I built my confidence and have been flipping cars (proper and thorough repairs) for two and a half years. I literally just finished painting a 2021 NV200 5 minutes ago that I welded in a new rear floor and subframe… just wanted to say thank you and to keep up the good work, your effort is appreciated .

Oil changes alone save a ton of money for a driver who commutes fairly often. While the initial purchase can seem daunting it pays for itself in spades. Then if you aggregate the lessons he teaches and people can save a lot, as you mentioned.
