    That rope is rigged weird too, it almost looks like they just tied it onto a quick link with a figure 8 on a bight or something. Were they planning to ascend back up the same rope? Even more reason to set everything up properly and not reuse old tattered webbing.

    This is Crew’s Route at Hobson Moor at the northern end of the Peak District, UK. I also fell and unzipped my runners on this route, however I was trying to get on the ledge on the left as I was too scared to finish direct when my fall happened. The reason for unzipping on this route is 100% the belayer standing too far away. The placements are average nut placements in polished, quarried, slightly flared rock and no cam placements low down.

    I actually hate that my static top rope setup doesn't let me drop and reattempt stuff... But I'll be buggered if I'm trashing my dynamics with my ascender. Maybe I'm doing it wrong or something, but for the amount of TRS i do, my rope gets trashed pretty fast.

    Last time I watched ur video was for rope soloing. It’s always been a dream of mine to ride my motorcycle to climb, funny how that’s brought me here again. Props to the shared vision! Love the concept of these. Could see these as an addition to but not replacement of foam unfortunately. Wonder how they’d hold up on uneven landings.

  • @BetaClimbers
    @BetaClimbers16 күн бұрын

    Right on, we’ll when you show up with a group like I did you usually have a bunch of different types of pads to mix things up which is nice. Yeah uneven wasn’t to bad but I wouldn’t want to plop it on top of anything sharp or poky lol

  • @justtheone5168

    Yeah price is absolutely the worst part about this thing it seems. Maybe I am missing something, but the current price seems wildly inflated (pun intended) for a glorified air mattress. I understand it is made with more durable material, but air mattresses are CHEAP. Even if this thing was magic, I wouldnt spend $200 for it. I’d rather get a trifold at that point.

  • @cragbum87

    If they can implement your suggestions and get some different sizes, I would definitely buy a few, depending on price. My only other thing that I would gave wanted it a way to lock the paid together but I see they already have a solution for that on their website. Durability would me my main concern at the current price.

  • @jeremyatill
    @jeremyatill16 күн бұрын

    Would be afraid of the bounce for sure. Curious if the weight/bounce would cause the pad to slide out from under you on an uneven surface or bounce you off the side. Seemed like low weight plus texture made the friction small enough that it slid away very easily. Also would it break your ankles if you land standing up on it. Even if it could only be used on perfect landings I'd pick up a couple at a more reasonable price.

    Saw these in bishops earlier this year. More of a trad person, so I assumed they were normal modern stuff for tryhards while I poked around on v0's with my 20 year old blown out pad. I am sold on those blubbers though.

  • @kentcowthe
    @kentcowthe17 күн бұрын

    First, Get an electric pump. They cost nothing these days and do wonders. Second, I am not sure how these mats are constructed but I want to see something similar to the sleeping pads Seatosummit makes, which is auto inflatable and combination of solid foam and air.

  • @dereinzigwahreRichi
    @dereinzigwahreRichi17 күн бұрын

    That would be equally heavy to a traditional crashpad (or at least almost) and really bulky, too, if it's built sturdy enough. I once had a 4" (10cm) thick one of these self inflating pads and it was a monster when rolled up and a pain to get it that way. There's hardly any advantage to be had with that kind of construction.

  • @chaosengine4597
    @chaosengine459717 күн бұрын

    Autoinflation on sleeping pads is a myth and has some drawbacks.

  • @dereinzigwahreRichi
    @dereinzigwahreRichi16 күн бұрын

    @@chaosengine4597 absolutely right, it only works to a certain degree, you need to blow some additional air into it. And it only works well if you don't store those pads compressed at home, which means inflated in that case. Otherwise the foam looses its loft (springiness).

    Personally I would not like the bounce factor, foam absorbs the shock of a fall better where air rebounds. They could work well to build up a base though and then cover with traditional pads
