Lyme Regis Fossils

Lyme Regis Fossils

Fossil hunter Brandon Lennon, films fossils along the Jurassic Coast. It’s a geologist’s dream to live and work in a place where the earth’s history is being revealed by the sea everyday. I am a fossil walk guide based at Lyme Regis and take out daily tours at low tide. I go out fossil collecting in conjunction with safe tides as the cliffs are dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning.I film landslides and extraordinary weather events. I show you the local areas of outstanding natural beauty on films i have created for KZread. The Jurassic Coast is a World Heritage Site on the English Channel Coast of Southern England.Lyme Regis is renowned for its ammonites, belemnites ,Ichthyosaurs. It’s also know for one particular dinosaur found here called Scelidosaur sp. of which I have found one large chunk.Mary Anning(1799-1847) was the famous fossil hunting lady of Lyme Regis. We hope that , by joining our fossil walk, some of you may be inspired to follow in Mary’s footsteps

It’s a bit of eroded sea glass from the “old” Victorian bottle dump slip, that has washed along the beach !

@@LymeRegisFossils thank you for the answer. Because I absolutely adore sea glass. I was walking once along the beach near sea dunes with my father when I was about 5 years old. There was beautiful amount of the sea glass. But my father didn't allow me to take it with me. I have never ever seen such amount of sea glass again. But in this year I found one arriving with my grandma to the coast right when I have walked to the beach sand. It is pale blue piece. I'm reading on the Wiki that pieces of glass could form from 20 to 40 years and in some cases even 100 years. I can also read that there is North American Sea Glass Festival about making jubilee out of sea glass.

Is that a calcified belemnite because it has a variation of colour! Also I think the mystery mineral might be partially made of pyrite

Thanks 🙏 very much for your comments. That belemnite really does have some definite differences- it’s an odd one that. The belemnite end really looks like it’s formed in pure calcite

did you pick up that coin looking object nestled near the mystery mineral? that little pointy thing looks like a baby squid part.. or the short end of a stylus or a knitting needle?? that little pool held lots of eye-catching tid bits!
