I can’t believe I found this fossil hunting surprise!🤔(Part 1)
Ойын-сауық
I go on a long fossil walk to the East of Lyme Regis, in conjunction with safe tide times. The best fossils are found at low tide. I hope you find some fossils along the Jurassic Coast-at low tide. Sometimes fossil hunting turns out to be treasure hunting, it’s fun just to see the “ treasures” on the large rocks. The Jurassic Coast really does have some stunning fossils. I recommend wearing safety glasses and sturdy rubber gloves when hammering the right rocks. Remember the cliffs are dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning. Keep away from the dangerous cliffs. The best fossils are washed out onto the beaches at low tide, by the sea's actions. Look out for the slippery seaweed on the ledges and rocks. I offer fossil walks along the Jurassic Coast on the following website, so feel free to take a look at the website I made, with our online fossil walks ------www.lymeregisfossilwalks.com There is a fossil collecting code of conduct in place along the Jurassic Coast- #fossils#fossilhunter#ammonite

Visited your lovely little shop in Lyme Regis last week and now back in Germany. I was lucky to find some cute small pyrite ammonites from the beach during our visit there. I love Lyme Regis and hope to be back next year. Till then will follow your great videos. Cheers!

Thanks 🙏 very much for your comments! I’m glad you enjoyed your holidays at Lyme Regis ! Those ammonites preserved in iron pyrite are very cute 🙌.
2:52 larger but less well preserved ammonite on the right side of the sieve. Also to identify where the beach is pyrite rich is it just a case of weight or does it tend to contain darker coloured rocks and grain with a slight sparkle to it?

Thanks 🙏 very much for your comments . The shaded patches on the beach containing “ metal like “ iron pyrite, are the good patches to look at - “ Ammonite Lyme Regis.” ( that’s a good video )

Great 😊 stuff thanks 🙏 very much for the comments. I’m a legendary gardener in my own mind yes 🙌
I find that beaches with no cliff warnings are the most unstable. Cardiff and kimmeridge have no warning. Cardiff clay cliffs can have pebbles dislodged with a shout. And kimmeridge is the most unstable and fly covered shale beach I have ever come across!

I talked to one of the Museum helpers today they are fairly young and engaged with fossil collecting on the beaches of Lyme Regis - at low tide! They had found some nice iron pyrite ammonites today and an Ichthyosaur back bone 🦴! I’d say that was currently a fairly good day out and about fossil hunting .

That’s a smaller hammer than I would normally use. It’s the appropriate type of hammer though in terms of splitting the right Little Rock’s. As I found a much larger rock I took the whole thing back to use a larger hammer on it 🙌
