We enjoyed seeing the agate and ammonite blocks in this video and the moss waterfall....very relaxing👍😎....(guess the local Crows from Seaton were not impressed with your "cost of living sandwich"🤣😂)

Brilliant 🤩 polish karsten, on that Eo! I mentioned you in the long write ✍️ up on the video --😊Let’s go fossil hunting along the Jurassic Coast. I am fossil hunting West of Lyme Regis today.I’m going fossil hunting along the Jurassic Coast at low tide. I’d like to find some of the beautiful little pyrite ammonites that wash out along the beach at low tide. Little nuggets of gold delight, saved from the shifting sands. I recommend wearing safety glasses and sturdy rubber gloves when hammering the right little rocks. I am going to show you a video of me splitting an ammonite out of a limestone rock.I have spent along time sizing up the manner in which certain ammonites 'pop' out of the rock. So look and learn how i spend alot of time sizing the rock up. Fossil hunting really does take hours of patience and persistence. I’m going to show you me looking for those ammonite bearing rocks after Christmas time. Remember the cliffs are dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning. Keep away from the dangerous cliffs, the best fossils are washed out onto the beaches at low tide, by the sea's actions. Look out for the slippery seaweed on the ledges and rocks. I am on the Ludlowville plate formation just outside Ithaca NY by Ludlowville falls. The fossils here are special. They are from the Devonian Period about 350 million years old. What is special about the formation is that invertebrates like jellyfish can and have been found. Its assumed a lot of yet to be named species are in this fossil plate. I go digging every day. There are some wonderful well detailed trilobites if you are lucky. Lots of crinoids, sea lillies and Brachiopods. I once found a Brachiopod with a 2 mm pearl. White and iridescent. I didn't know that was a thing. I once found what looked very much like a rattlesnakes rattle cut in half vertically. About the size of an adult thumb. Any idea what this might have been? Also do you have any pointers you would be willing to share that would help me in identifying some of these very uncommon invertebrates that are difficult to spot and look almost like plant matter? Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a lot of fun finding the fossils where you are. The trilobites must be a good prize to get hold of . You could send me some pictures if you like 👍🏻

I'm going on a vacation to south west England early July and I'm planning to spend a few days fossil hunting. I've only been collecting in Sweden previously so I'm not at all familiar with the geology or how to think about the tides. It will be exciting, just hoping for decent weather! Other than the beaches closet to Lyme Regis, do you think Pinhay Bay or some other part of the coast would be good to visit for fossil hunting?

I have put some information in a standard reply I do, down below for you. I’ve got a good link to a really interesting fossil collecting video I made about fossil hunting. I have created a standard reply for the fossil walks at the moment. I am also in my shop in Lyme Regis running that a lot of the time. A fossilised ichthyosaur jaw an ancient marine sea creature that has fossilised. I’ve got one like this in the Lyme Regis museum people can see it’s a bit bigger .
