Fossil Hunter Finds Surprising Sea Urchin Searching! 🤩

Ойын-сауық

Here is a beautiful example of a fossil sea urchin, that I found along the Jurassic Coast. I hope you find some fossils along the Jurassic Coast-at low tide. Sometimes fossil hunting turns out to be treasure hunting, especially when you are trying a bit of sieving. The Jurassic Coast really does have some stunning fossils. I recommend wearing safety glasses and sturdy rubber gloves when hammering the right rocks. Remember the cliffs are dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning. Keep away from the dangerous cliffs. The best fossils are washed out onto the beaches at low tide, by the sea's actions. Look out for the slippery seaweed on the ledges and rocks. I offer fossil walks along the Jurassic Coast on the following website, so feel free to take a look at the website I made, with our online fossil walks ------www.lymeregisfossilwalks.com There is a fossil collecting code of conduct in place along the Jurassic Coast. Thanks 🙏 very much David. I was so surprised 😮 to see the big sea urchin block just sitting there in the middle of the beach. The little sea urchin was amazingly well preserved and translucent. I was lucky 🍀 to spot that in a “ splinter,” of the rock !

Another really great video there Brandon! 🙌 you’ve shown the beauty of the coast so well 🌊✨ and some really helpful info on how to split rocks for those calcite ammonites! 😮 they really are beautiful. 🤩🙌

This was such an enjoyable video. I've found many flint echinoids not far from where I live on the Norfolk coast. I had many wonderful fossil hunting holidays along the Jurassic Coast and on my last visit I watched yellow wagtails feeding by the river at the end of your video. I'm now rather disabled although I can walk with crutches but only very slowly. Still, I can relive all those lovely times through your films.

That’s a really old style hammer head that I’ve got there. I picked one up at a car boot about 10 years ago - the last. I’ve been constantly re-shafting that with a hickory handled hammer replacement for many years. As soon as I break a wooden handle I just get another one for it. I mend a lot of hammers down here that are broken a long the handle , it’s good re-cycling.
