Your delivery is outstanding and way above the usual KZread standard. Have you ever done voiceover work?
I do video related work professionally, outside of KZread. Also, thank you. :)
Loved every second, mate. Amazing job. :)
this is an absolutely monumental work and i came back expecting it to have at least a million views by now! I can't describe how valuable and interesting all your documentaries are.
For me the big issue with this game was the frame rate. With other cars on the road, the game would tank. I could deal with the iffy handling if it was smooth, but it was not.
Oh man thank you algorithm gods for showing me this channel love the editing and timing with the music ❤
The soundtrack is amazing for this game. Some real Capcom bangers.
Amazing video 👏 Watched it right after your Sega Rally video. Thanks a lot for letting us dig into these epic Sega Ages. It was very cool and moving watching these 7 guys talking about their early days. Congrats!
I've watched this so many times, now, but I still remember 1:38:25 as the part that made me certain I was going to commit to watching the whole thing when I first checked it out. Incidentally, Virtua Cop was my first Panda video, the credit to which entirely goes to Bofner (talking about Bulk Slash), without whom it likely would have taken me longer to discover your channel.
The soundtrack puts this whole experience over the top. It’s such a unique game, especially compared to other on rails shooters. I absolutely adore all 3 of the original PD games
Is there a link to the Access/Headroom development office footage?
It comes and goes. Right now, it's here: www.dailymotion.com/video/x18sfeb
This game kicked butt
Cyber speedway was awesome, high octane sucked
This game sucked in 1995 and it is so boring
Ghen War was one of the worst Sega Saturn games of all time - and I owned 50 games by 1997
Between this and the Rally vid, the Game Catalog II gang is really starting to feel more like old friends than the hosts of a random old video game TV show. I think of the exchange at 57:19 all the time, as only one example.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN FOUR HOURS
Your videos are incredible, I don't know how I hadn't come across them before. They absolutely blow the doors of any other video game retrospectives/documentaries I have ever seen!
Amazing graphics and music, but I can't stand the character design. He's so repulsive. I also wish he made less noise. In fact the sound design is pretty bad. While the music is amazing like I said, Astal's dumb noises as well as that creature who hangs around onscreen trying to grab you until you smash it away makes the most droning sound I may have heard in a game. He even keeps making it for a few seconds after he disappears offscreen. That plus the noise your bird constantly makes when it wants you to press a button is enough to make me want to stab my ears. I might even rather listen to baby Mario cry. I wish it had redbook audio as the streamed music is a bit lacking in clarity... would be nice if an official OST was released but I don't think they ever did. I'd also prefer it without the bird mechanic and if the hitbox were a touch smaller.
The bird definitely gets annoying. I found myself using its powers just to make it be quiet.
I want to play these demos on my Fenrir, but they're not available in instant easy to use Fenrir compatible ISOs. Any advice?
The official website says Fenrir works with games in these formats: CCD/IMG CUE/ISO (single files) CUE/BIN (multiples files) You will need to convert the game to one of the above formats if it is not already in one of the above formats.
@@PandaMoniumReviews Thanks for the reply. :) I realise that, but can you recommend a utility to do so? Short of burning the homebrew software and ripping the disc (which is laborious), I'm a bit lost.
Just Awesome!!! we all have to get you credit for making these inside looks to all these games. Just from enjoing and learning about saturn games is making me want to have a saturn again.
AWESOME EPISODE!!!! I really enjoy the suff you make! Best YT-Channel
"Rated as one of the top 20 games of the year"
A lot of people bought a Saturn to play this game. I know i did.
YOu make great stuff! VERy through
its amazing we waited since 1993 for the complete dev story !!!! I am humbled! great work AM3 & Panda!!!!
Your channel is insane, I thought it was a 4 minute video not 4 hours! Incredible work, time to make a pizza and enjoy the movie :D
Saturn Virtua Racing sucked, the Arcade was so good tho, the first 3D experience
I wonder if Rockstar was inspired by Night Trap. I don't mean any sort of gameplay ideas, i mean the idea of selling more copies of their games if they can generate controversy
Amazingly in-depth documentary that is both fascinating and full of heart.
31:25 funny how that statement basically describes SEGA Touring Car Championship, they went too overboard with the "realism". Also, that game will probably be an interesting one for you to tackle in 2077 or so :p
One of the coolest games I’ve ever played
The PAL releases came later, but they were properly optimised to run correctly. A lot of third party PAL Saturn releases ran slower, and in a stretched aspect ratio. (The poor PAL releases run properly on a NTSC saturn with an action replay cart, so they aren’t worthless)
Wow. Your historical documentary style reviews continue to blow me away. You really opened my eyes up to this game, as well as the sport of Rally Driving as well. I'll have to keep an eye out for a copy of this one in the second hand stores downtown!
0:06 what is this from? It’s so funny
don't just play the European version of Shinobi Legions, play the European version patched to run at 60 fps. Also Edge magazine in the 90s were just professional haters. They gave Doom a 7 out of 10 with the criticism of "if only you could talk to these creatures". they probably scored Shinobi Legions low cause you couldn't talk to the enemy ninjas or some shit
A legendary line from Edge 🤣
hell yes i'm down for a nearly 5 hour long documentary on a saturn racing game
"Non binary" icon? Why bring identity politics into this? Unsubscribing.
lol thanks for watching
24min in, really loving it
this was amazing to watch all the way through. i learned so much and found a higher appreciation for motorsports and for sega rally. now i've been playing sega rally daily for fun.
if Virtua Cop was such a challenge i would love to know how they were able to do the 2nd one, which features better graphics, much larger environments and different paths for each stage.
When they cancelled Indy 500 for that crappy Daytona remix... 🤬🤬🤬
Those two discs you showed came with my Saturn, which I bought on the surprise launch day (Yes, I was surprised by said launch). I didn't have to send away for them as I still have my receipt and fully intact box. Anyway I remember watching the Virtua Racing video and thinking how BAD it looked. It really isn't a good first impression and really soured me on the game... I wasn't looking forward to it at all. They should not have had that video or other videos with such alpha footage. Just a list of games that say "Coming soon" would've sufficed.
It really did look rough. Cool footage nowadays since we can see how it started, but man, that must have looked pretty bad at the time.
This is amazing, thank you for making this documentary!
this has some fuckin nicovideo MAD energy
Hard medium right baby Edit: Just got the part where it’s actually “maybe”.
My god, this video is freaking awesome and wholesome
That stuff was eye-opening. Awesome hq content. Maybe the best docu i ever saw.
I *love* Rayman, but you're way too forgiving of its difficulty. It's well known that they literally never even playtested it, so a lot of it is arbitrarily difficult without them ever testing it to make sure it was even possible to beat.
