Sucks that character in particular was used by the DM... Not every DMNPC is like this, but if I had a nickle for every time an DND DM acted corruptly? I'd have hundreds of hundred thousands of nickles; which is actually a lot, and it's weird it happens so often, seemingly regardless if the DM's a furry or antifur or neutral.

An Archfay instantly killing a PC is a bit of a mercy compared to what they -could- potentially do.. Depends on if they'd be okay with the other kind of things they could do to them.. Killing them outright will feel bad, but what other horrors could be inflicted could have been a more interesting direction.

To the GM with a pirate- can’t you work the pirate into the plot? Instead of “porting” have characters need to sail to places, add a few opportunities for plunder. Add a cool pirate treasure to the payoff for following the plot- or the chance to get Privateer papers so they can attack other country’s ships without legal problems. I think you have a bored player who instead of complaining came up with an idea- letting your players add to and guide parts of the story will make a better game .

come sout as? like... do you come out as a trekkie or whovian? furries are specifally furry fans, or to go even older, funny animal fans. the funny animal fandom has its roots in the 80s with adjacency to trek, comic book, and scifi conventions.

"I cast animate dead, causing fungal spores to invest the corpse, gaining control over it like a puppet" "Because it's a fungus it dies if it takes fire damage" "I change the spell. It now just raises dead RAW." Congrats. You killed some free flavor and worldbuilding for no reason.

bruh, i felt bad for asking to play a half-kenku (half human, half kenku, with an appearance similar to a harpy in that his arms are feathery and his hands are talons, same for legs, you get the gist) i wouldnt even THINK about asking for custom everything.

To be honest, I’m not 100% against the first DM. He was thorough, had a full-on interview process to ensure everything involved would be expected and ok with whatever players were to join. Sure, it’s iffy as fuck to almost guarantee women get raped in-game while men never do, I can really only see women with rape/domination fantasies being willing to play, but that’s the point. No kink-shaming, but it really seems like that’s the only demographic that would be genuinely interested in his premise. Which, if it works with everyone else involved, go for it. Rather have it remain a fantasy than letting them indulge (using that term insanely loosely) in the real thing. Both the men and women.

Why would you let your gusts stay in your house unattended like that for what 2 days/ nights your asking and inviting bad things to happen to your house they are lucky that they only left a mess and phucked in their bed so much worse could have happened.

I myself play neverwinter on consoles. I never have played ttdnd I am interested to try ttdnd but I am not interested in changing my irl voice and talking in a first person perspective like as if I was actually talking as my character because I have bad and anxiety and wanting to play with those that do role play like that. Is there a way for me to do such a thing without being sounding or acting like an @$$. I know some of the basics such as dont bring in game bs into the real world as well as no loan wolf edge lord murmur hobo crap. Ps new fan of dnd doge have been watching for a month or 2 and the more I watch the more I am interested playing ttdnd despite the horror stories and my lack of knowledge when it comes to the game.

Small nitpick in the first story: why is the DM building level 12 NPC’s for a level 1 PC game? I get having people stronger than the party in the group, I do it all the time in my games too, but such a blatant power gap is a bit of a red flag IMO. Rogue definitely got what he deserved, but just gives me the impression the DM was expecting to use these mercs to “save the party”

That DM in story 2 repeated use of "Ascetic" sounds like they just learned that word and thought its was cool and was throwing it around to sound smarter then they are. The word means religious discipline and holding back urges and actions to be more reserved, to abstain from indulgences. As in the ascetic monks. How the DM is using it feels like bullying that OP isn't flamboyant enough with the redundant descriptions of actions. That stuff gets old real quick. For the 1st time unveiling the use of a new spell is cool flavor and adds to the fun or a dramatic moment. As example 'How do you want to do this?' moments... But EVERY SINGLE TIME?! Nah man, it artificially pads out the game and grinds action time to a crawl. OP should bail the group.

The fourth story is focused wrong. The problem is not the overpowered DMPC, it is the DM being an unfair moron (straight up pulling BS into the game and ignoring player agency). I don't know if it is a good or bad thing that this DM doesn't even sound like he's mean-spirited here.

And this is why you don’t let pvp be a thing. It just causes to many problems. DM should have stopped the barbarian from the start at that point before wrecking the rogue’s stuff. DM lets this player wreck another player’s stuff and then just tells him to leave, hope he gave the rogue his stuff back cause that’s major bs.

We have a joke about the god Ayephkay (AFK) abducting people who don't show up for sessions into genie bottles and puts them back with the party after joining again. She drinks the bottle if the player gets kicked/banned from the table.

Honestly the treasure crew thing sounds sick as hell. I’d make a swashbuckler and ask about a background passive income type crew. I’d technically be the captain but I’d be more like the guy who owns the ship and funds its voyages. It’d be cool to recruit certain NPCs. Hmm Swashbuckler Guild Artisan! But yeah of course this would be with the mind that I know the campaign is coastal or nautical in some aspect. Edit: Swashbuckler/Warlock? That way I can make contracts with the npcs so they don’t rob me blind lol

The "Over Powered" story - Yeah, having magic items randomly explode is beyond stupid, and the damage is WAY off. Unless that creature's tongue was somehow activating a Necklace of Fireballs or a Staff of the Magi, there's no reason they should've exploded, let alone with that intensity. The fact that they had no idea how to fight the monster is just beyond stupid. "Pregnant" story - So many red flags, you'd have have to be literally red-green colorblind in order to not notice. Bail while you can. Any DM that ignores your "don't" list and then wants you to potentially start out pregnant when you don't want to be is beyond gross and shouldn't be dealt with.
