DnD Players DO METH During Dungeons And Dragons | r/rpghorrorstories
Ойын-сауық
In today's video of DnD Horror Stories, we have a story about a dnd player bringing an illicit substance to a dungeons and dragons game, and the insanity that ensues due to it. A story about a player who can't separate a DnD character from the player, and much more!

As someone who had an issue similar to Rich's, albeit not meltdowns, if d&d is your big escape and you are maybe on the spectrum with other issues clustering, when you can't even do well in fantasy..... it's devastating. Had a period like this a few years ago and I'm glad my friends talked to me from a place of understanding. Although I never melted down or rage quit.

I've had similar experiences I did rage quit more or less find the most peaceful way possible I just pack my things and got up and walked out. I'm all for joking but getting constantly gas letting people pushing boundaries they know not to push so on so forth plus other things and then compiled on top of bad rolls add feeling misguided by other party members on purpose.. I think I made the right choice by leaving. They're not all bad people or anything like that I just don't think I was compatible with them long-term NADA setting. Also, if you ever need a friend I'm just your friendly neighborhood blindy man but I'll hear you out.
So a talking dog is saying I shouldn’t worry about dragons coming after me? Sure….
I'm actually surprised you're able to put METH in the title and thumbnail without KZread automatically demonetizing the video.

They didn't even see how the raw eggs was your brain normally, but the fried eggs was your brain on meth. That would've really prevented this whole thing if they saw that.
Seems they chose to be Khajiit with real life Skooma
Meth is a great drug if your idea of a fun night is hallucinating that spiders are crawling under your skin. It's not very conducive to a dnd session, however.

Someone at the table pulls out meth? I'm out-a-there. I don't need my life ruined by being arrested, even if charges are dropped after I test clean.
Aw, that's Meth'D up
On the last story, depression does cause people to lash out at the one close to them, that's one of the rare symptom. This does not excuse the outburst nor claiming that the player should just take the abuse, but saying that "having depresion doesn't cause this" will only make the people who uncontrollably lash out due to their illeness feel like they are the problem and not their disease. It's important to recognise the uglier symptoms of illenesses like depression that affect people other than the person that is ill so that they aren't alone in the fight against said illeness. thank you for reading if you do, I love lisentning to your video while I draw.
First story: the girl quit years ago because of some (unreasonable seeming) personal feelings about another player (Mark) and wants to play with the group again on the condition Mark doesn't play/isn't allowed to play with them this time around (that's how I read it). Short of some really good reason she has a problem with Mark, like he assaulted her, that should be a no. An emotional erstwhile player shouldn't be allowed to dictate who's part of the group simply because she doesn't like them (and everyone else in the group does). That's not right or fair. Second story: My worry, if I wasn't motivated to get high, would have been about MY future, tbh. That's an unarguable expulsion for everyone in the (school property!) room just waiting to happen. Getting a little drunk or a little stoned may be overlooked but I doubt anything else would be. Also, the effects it had on the people who took it makes it sound like it wasn't just meth in that bag. Anything could have happened. I suppose it's a good thing some of them stayed straight and didn't leave like they should have. Wouldn't save the babysitters from being kicked out of the school too, though. OP should stay strict with the "never again" rule.
Intro: Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa, hold the phone; did you seriously skip the cat intro?! Okay, maybe that'll come later. I'll be patient. Character Bleed: Another case of people needed to communicate above board. Feelings are valid, but sometimes they need to be sorted and put in the right place or things can get messy. It probably won't turn into a redux of "Mazes and Monsters" (1982), but it won't hurt to have an open discussion about the topic. Dungeons and Crystals: Wow. Seriously? This is bonkers! YES! Patience rewarded: Cat cameo = Like DnD Baby: Well, if OP doesn't feel comfortable talking it out with DM, then dipping out is the best available option. Maybe run lighter bite-sized sessions with the other friends to get one's DnD fix while remaining available for random baby duty. We had a player with a baby (DM's wife), and no one begrudged her having to dip. In fact, we got to meet and play with the munchkin every once in a while before or during sessions, and that was a lot of fun! Player Meltdown: It's important to embrace the element of chance when playing a game that relies on dice. If Rich can't learn to have fun with failure as well as success, he might not be mature enough to enjoy D&D. Learning to accept the bad with the good when it doesn't truly matter might have gone a long way towards accepting and dealing constructively with the ups and downs of real life. Instead, he just chose to be a miserably toxic problem player. The DM did the right thing; there's no helping someone who isn't ready to grow yet, and there was no reason to make the rest of the group suffer for it.
Meth is not the kind of drug you "experiment" with
If Meth shows up, you Have To BAIL! There is Nothing you can Say. You need to 'speak' by LEAVING. It Is the Best Thing you can do - Every Time.
*Insert DnD breaking bad jokes here*
There's a reason why I outright ban both alcohol and drugs at my tables.
When the bag of Meth comes out, I go home - full stop.

jfc, if everything in story 3 is true, then you really do NEED to tell them the truth! They need to be rid of that toxic asshat before his poor attitude bleeds into everyone else. They need to know what type of person he is so he can't manipulate everyone else against you and ruin any salvageable friendships!

Yeah I didn’t agree with doge’s advice of keeping the peace there. Sounds like the DM is just a shitty person in general. They should tell their friends the truth and let them decide if they wanna be around that kind of person.
I used to think that a lot of the d&d horror story content creators watched each other or the same reddit thread to get the lastest crazy story to comment on. Nowadays I'm pretty sure that people just spam every creator's email with the story just so I can be seen on multiple channels.

6:55 *STOP!* HOLD IT RIGHT THERE, DOGE! Being on the Spectrum does not mean that you have trouble Discerning fantasy from reality. That is not how we are and that is not a symptom. I am tired of people trying to *_use us_* - because that's exactly what's happening, whether that's the intention or not - as an excuse or explanation for bad/unhinged behavior. Autism is a COMMUNICATION DISORDER. And while it's more complicated than missing certain social cues, things like this are not related to autism at all. I'm tired of this, and this only contributes to people using autism as an insult, because people conflate autism with bad, unhinged, or mentally deficient Behavior.
The game is supposed to be fighting dragons, not chasing the dragon
I'm really glad there was a kitty break after the meth story. Meth is no joke. Years ago, I knew a guy whose life was wrecked by meth and other hard drugs. It was sad to see that happen, as he was smart and was an expert in his line of work. Meth destroyed everything that he had previously accomplished. If I was with a group of people for any sort of social activity, and someone pulled out a bag of meth, I would be out of there in an instant. I don't want to be anywhere near that stuff or anyone who uses it. I'll stick to moderate consumption of booze; I don't need or want anything stronger.
The strongest thing I’ve had at the table, is a can of Irn Bru.
15:58 Op just answered her own question, don't go back if you don't want to
In the first story, Mark was playing Lawful Stupid.
With the DND Baby story, I think it would be better to ask the other two party members if they'd overheard the DM badmouthing you two, in which case, just be honest and tell him that you're leaving and why ( _the baby + his attitude towards you when you were pregnant_ ). After all, if he and the other party members hear you're creating your own DND game after ghosting his campaign, all of them will have a far more justifiable reason to dislike you. By letting them know definitively, you would give him and the other players more of a heads up and let them try and salvage the campaign rather than leaving them wondering for who knows how long before they get the gist that you're not coming back.
Yeah, no, OP 1 was indeed having trouble separating the people from the characters, but it's not because she's new (I have yet to encounter anyone who does that just because they're new) - it's obviously because she has some kind of history with that guy from before the game.

@@AmazingAutist As someone who actually _is_ on the spectrum, I couldn't agree more.
I am not sure that what Jane experienced counts as character bleed. It looks to me like her character's antagonistic relationship with OP's chracter worked for her while the one with Mark's character just didn't. The problem was that she was for some reason unable to tell that to Mark.
Story #1 - Jane's issue, clearly, and I'd be a bit worried about her return. Have her sit in and see how other Characters interact for a bit, before she joins, is my suggestion. If issues start appearing again, call her out on them FAST, don't assume that' it''ll all be good if ignored. Story #2 - Always had a 'No Drugs' policy in my groups, and this is why (fast food, snacks and caffeine don't count). Someone who claims that meth is in the same league as weed or alcohol is (imo) stupidly dangerous to themselves and anybody near them. Story #3 - Stay in contact with the friends, but look for a new DM. Tell the friends why. It really is that simple. Keeping quiet about this benefits no one except that DM, who quite frankly does not deserve any consideration whatsoever.. Story #4 - Bad rolls happen to the best of us. A strong "DAMMIT!" at the time is tolerable, if you *really* feel the need, but then suck it up and move on. That's it. Hoping that Rich can develop this trait for his own sake, because he'll be getting booted a lot otherwise.
My players did weed the night I was putting them through Ravenloft... I myself got intoxicated by the fumes, and the horror adventure became a nonsensical laughter filled absurdity.

Most people don't want to play TTRPGs if I don't have at least a dwindling dose of a methyl based drug in my systems. Then again, I have ADHD and I'm on time released methlyphenidate.
Devil's advocate about the rich and Josh story. Occasionally people do get upset for bad roles and whatnot and by the way depression and bipolar can affect your mood especially things are going badly but not generally to this extent. Oliver, I thought there was a lot of left out possible need to know information. Based on the information we are given and the perspective we are shown it shows rich as a temperamental manchild but we also don't know if other people in the group had been picking on them or gaslighting then along with the bad rolls those things put together can make someone have a really bad night.. at the story is completely accurate than Rich needs to grow up a little bit. I myself have left a group before because I was being gaslight I know somebody was supposed to be joking a lot of it was not combine that with bad rules and things going on in my personal life and I left. They messaged me a week later and said that they thought I brought down the mood and I wasn't invited back but you know something if you're going to be gaslighting me all the time that I don't want to be there.this does not pertain to everyone in my old d&d group they're mostly really cool people and even the person who is doing the gaslighting was kind of okay why do you like to push boundaries way too often knowing that we're going to be any serious consequences so they just push and push and push and push.
Calling somebody " on the spectrum " doesn't feel entirely fair. She did mention that she knows this person in real life and has a lot of real life behaviors she has a problem with that she feels also reflects in the game. But OP ignore that and shut her down. Am I the only one that heard that?

First crack and now meth. Dnd really does appeal to a much wider variety of people than it used to.
last time it was crack, this time it's meth, what's next? Opium, heroine, cocaine, ecstasy? all of the above?
I was hoping the first one was the meth story with how it started.
Yikes, that was severe overreaction on Jane's part. Jane might be on the spectrum, I'm not sure. Speaking as someone who actually is, I've never once had the of not keeping player and character separate.
11:26 DThe Gold Dragon is comming to kill DM irl.
when people say "DND on crack" I don't think this is what most people mean when speaking figure of speeches....
I feel like the second story rich could use a dose of my favorite petulant child teacher. Let them succeed in everything and Kill everything they attack. Have villains instantly surrendered just in their presence? The moment they talk to them.
12:00 Yeah because meth had totally nothing to do with it Play smash and they will have a "X character will protect you while the other 9 try to kill you" moment irl hahaha

Ohh hell no if someone is gonna give me a lecture on how to play my class just cause it does not align with there character morals were fighting
Mark didn't do anything wrong and story 1 person needs to learn what roleplay is. She's allowed to not like how he roleplays, but saying "hey, when you do that it makes it less fun for me" ooc is what you do. Story 2, anyone stupid enough to do meth is someobe you don't play dnd with. Especially when they combine the 2. ESPECISLLY ESPECIALLY if they're comparing it to weed or drinking in moderation.
Wow a story the dragon beat you to!
I'm sorry comparing MJ or even a reasonable amount of alcohol to crystal meth is absurd... I mean I can even understand other natural substances in their most natural forms in a reasonable amount more specifically for medical purposes but Crystal meth? I don't mean someone who took too much Adderall or something I mean actual Crystal meth? SMH what's wrong with humans...
