Tabaxi are as "cat-like" as you want to roleplay. I personally play them as just very hairy humans, because I don't want "cat" to be their primary personality trait. This might be an overreaction on my part, after witnessing another player spending all their time purring, climbing trees, and rubbing against things. I can't even remember their class, because all they cared about was "cat." But tabaxi are a fantasy people like dwarves and elves, and it can get irritating when someone leans into the tropes with those too much. Dwarves can be more than drunk, vengeful, and Scottish. Tabaxi can be more than Cat.

Ye I tend to more or so commonly see tabaxi PC's or npc's look like khajiit's unless they are explicitly explained to either be more or less like a cat, as well the concept of just deciding how cat like the pc or npc is, always intrigued me.

I play Tabaxi as pretty normal people, but my warlock Tabaxi (with a bit of madness when away from civilization) did have an irrational fear of cucumbers, and behaved more cat-like when in this mad state, but in towns, cities and such, he was an absolute gentleman, and quite jovial too. He just became cat with cucumber fear and when not being in a town (and no, travelling didn't count, it mainly counted during dungeons and such)

I'm a woman. Have been for a long time. I can tell you that cycles vary *greatly* between women. Some are incapacitated with pain, some get bitchy, some you will never know unless they actively tell you. How we each deal with it can also vary. For me, I am blessed with minimal interruptions to my day and a general lack of pain. If I was to implement it mechanically to a game, I would follow something like what the anime Slayers did. Lina Inverse would lose her magic powers once a month. It could also be a good Werewolf red herring plot device too "Why is this adventurer so withdrawn?" That said, I don't think it would ever need to be brought up, period. (Yes, I know what I did there). A guy trying to RP a woman at her "time of the month" is just ludicrous. It's not like we become completely different creatures at that point. Another "for me personally" is that I get hyper-focused and short tempered for a couple days but I'm also aware of it so I'm careful not to show it. I think that's how most women are - you will never know (except in extreme cases) if something is going on with one of us because we just deal with it.

I just see no need for it to exist in a magical fantasy world. I see no possible use for it in an adventure. Plenty of stuff is already just not a thing becauseof convenience or irrelevance. This should be that.

The Coke story reminded me of a coworker I used to have at a meat processing facility. Don't recall her real name, but everyone nicknamed her "Crystal" which I didn't understand, at first. She was always really hyper, fast talking, speed walking, and sometimes spontaenous dancing. I had only recently started working there so I just thought she was just a high energy person. One day I was breaking up some ice with a pitchfork (normal thing at that factory) and she says, "Hey, nice fork." to which I jokingly respond, "Smoke meth and hail Satan!" I laughed, but she looked mortified. I figured I had offended her so I apologized and went back to work. A couple weeks went by, and she was inexplicably fired. Rumor was that it was because of drugs, specifically methamphetamine. Suddenly her nickname and her reaction to my dumb joke made complete sense...

I once played at a table where the DM IMPOSED it on my character, the idea died quickly because even the DM was too preoccupied to impose the penalties on me. I was new back then and when they told me the campaign was set to “realistic”, I didn’t realize that it also meant bodily functions. That table died eventually due to other life events and factors (ie. we tried to recruit new players but the DM and the campaign design was never newbie friendly).

On the red string story; When the Rogue said that in-game, then it opens the dorr for OP to fire back in my opinion. It should've been dealt with above table though and make sure whether the player were having those kinds of opinions as well. Either way, not healing the player is a fun idea. But OP could also turn the tables and become the edgy a-hole by first healing Rogue and afterwards, once they're all safe, stab him with a dagger and say they were taking their healing back. As long as it's agreed upon above table of course.

Red Rope: I'm all for using different methods when it comes to spellcasting, but it seems that the cleric should have told the other players when they were happy to receive their bracelets. It's good to say for RP purposes that it's "just a blessing," but the cleric could've added the bit about "my magic will be able to reach you." Rogue is definitely in the wrong though for refusing the bracelet and storming out. Both are in the wrong, but Rogue is the bigger Wrong.

Describing necrophilia as 'something dubious' is a master class in understatement. Funny how these male players of female characters never think to actually, you know, ask a woman about any mechanical in-game effect, she might consider monthlies to have. While every woman is going to be a bit different, it would be some guidance, at least. I wonder if he's been called out in the past on not taking menstrual pain seriously and this is his misguided but not ill-intentioned attempt to be genuine about it.

I once played in a 2e campaign and considered playing an Amazon from the fighter’s handbook. The Amazon kit had a special ability that when fighting a man they got a +5 to hit and damage on the first hit because they male underestimated them for being a woman. If you missed, you would keep getting that +5 until you landed your first blow. After that everything was normal. My Dm and other players joked about giving her the traits of a berserker once a month because during that time she would be “Emory, short tempered, and irrational”, but I wouldn’t be able to control when that happened. It would be up the the dm to decide when something angered my character enough to have that happen. Could be in a fight, a social situation, or anything in between. I ended up not playing that character and went with something else, I don’t remember what though.

RE: that last story regarding "pvp when it was supposed to be disallowed" - I think the bigger issue was that the reason was that the orc claimed "In his tribe besting somebody in a duel means you get to claim them". I mean, if the character was not interested, how is this NOT a situation that would end in rape? Yeah, I think the issue here is that one of the characters wanted to rape another and covered it by claiming it was a "ritual of their people" and not blatant SA. And if you want to get technical and say the "claim" could mean any number of things, name one instance in which a person thinks of that for their background without first going over it with their intended target above board and wouldn't also think that the claim entitles them to sex?

Regarding that second story, I'm sorry, but I'm having serious doubts that was intended to be a "joke." It felt more like he was scrambling for an excuse once he realised his behaviour was extremely inappropriate and made everyone at the table uncomfortable. It wasn't posed like a joke (I can't fathom what the punchline would have been for something like that...), or seemed as if it were intended to be taken as dark humour; he was roleplaying assaulting a corpse and only stopped when people responded negatively to it. Even if he does have an "inside joke" regarding necrophilia with his wife, I'd still go out on a limb to say that more than likely, he just has a necrophilia fetish and was embarrassed for being called out on it.

2:36 Depends on the woman. Some women have little to no discomfort, and it doesn't have an impact on their lives at all, aside from having to use feminine hygiene products for a few days. Some experience extreme discomfort, even debilitating pain. And though it is often lampooned in various media, some women DO become moody and borderline irrational. So her having a negative to her ability checks isn't really all that unreasonable. But my question is, why in the hell would you want to roleplay that? I don't see a reason to include it at all. I've played female characters and never even thought about it. It's just... weird. I guess I have to give him props for taking his character's physiology into account, I guess. 5:46 That's just creepy and weird. If his wife were there and he made the reference, I guess I could understand a bit, but she wasn't. Still not nearly as bad as wanting to SA a 'living' NPC or PC, but definitely worthy of an objection and a few raised eyebrows. 9:46 Dude insulted his religion, and the cleric found a passive aggressive way to get him back. Sounds legit to me. You don't mock the faith of the person in charge of keeping you alive without expecting some form of retribution. There are religions in fantasy and reality which have done or would do far worse. 13:31 Look, I'm of the belief that people can put what they want in their bodies, and that most recreational substances shouldn't be illegal. But risking the academic future of someone who doesn't partake like that is inexcusable. Do it in your own homes, folks. And for God's sake don't drive anywhere.

They're thinking these things through. Fantasy or not it's incredibly gross and at least half these people should've been booted like the paladin

Story 1: Assuming you don't want to boot the guy for being such a jerk, simply tell him that in this world women don't have menstrual cycles. Story 3: No, you're not the a**hole. You played in character. Your magic has evolved and you can now only heal people who agree to wear Ilmater's symbol (whether a game mechanic or just your character's belief) -- the player had a problem with it because he was meta-gaming. From the sounds of it you got the best result, edgelord quit -- now go enjoy the game with the other players who aren't a**holes. Story 4: Playing stoned, high or drunk is something that needs to be discussed before hand and *everyone* involved be cool with. The DM handled it 100% properly.

On the third story, yes, OP is the a**hole. To be honest storming out then is not even a bad reaction concidering that OP just kill his character to make a point that did not exist before. This kind of players make the game bad for everyone and then blame the rogue for being edgy? But hey... Nice kitty.

C'mon, Doge! We REALLY needed some emergency kitties to help us recover from the six d4 psychic damage of the "NecRogue" story!😱🤢😭 Alice's appearance later on was all that kept me from failing my last death save!😳😅❤🐱❤ P.S., as soon the other player killed OP's micro gryphon familiar "for laughs", I would've John Wicked it dead-assed said "I draw my dagger and f🤬king gut this b🤬ch!"🗡

Changing things up, and not letting everyone know the significance at the time you do it especially, isn't great. I don't think it necessarily makes you an a-hole, but it's not exactly a great thing to do. I'd say at least let the players know OOC what you're doing for the sake of roleplay when you decide to do it. That's not to say the other dude _wasn't_ an a-hole, but it's understandable that they would become frustrated.

To be clear in the Ilmater story the OP was 100% in the right. The rogue player not only insulted gis characters god but also used offensive, bigoted language to do so. OP was justified both in and out of character.

Don't know what being a guy has to do with playing an estrogenized character any more than being a lady has anything to do with playing a testosterone'd character. Unless you're sexist or something. Which would be a personal problem, Chief. Hardly a horror story, maybe this is an important aspect of this person discovering that they're trans. What a weird situation to fixate over.

Regarding that third story, very BS reason for the cleric to not heal but I can sympathize with their motive. In the end, it does fall to their alignment and whether their religious teachings would humour helping someone who speaks ill words of their conducts. My Twilight Cleric would but not every holy healer is obligated to do so. Both sides were a-holes but it is very obvious who was more so.

I don't think it's all that bs, if you want your character to be healed, don't be a dick to the healer. It's a simple concept and easy to accomplish. A lot of people seem to think in both ttrpgs and mmo's that healer characters are whipping boys required to be on demand heal bots. Yeah, it's a little petty but petty is the perfect response to a whiny little edgelord crying fag to look like a big ol toughy.

Pretty much the moment he threw a slur he solidified himself as the prick imo. Cleric was a bit crappy for the attitude but the rogue was far more in the wrong

There is a saying throughout all gaming mediums, and that saying is, "don't piss off the healer." Granted as a cleric main and someone who often chooses a healer class in games, I usually heal no matter how I feel about a player/character. But if someone crosses a line, I only give one warning, and they will be on their own.
