Hie Steve Actually I diagnosed with CML CP on 29 Feb 2024. I have not done base line PCR. After 3 month of treatment my PCR value is 3.554% IS value. How would I know my log reduction?? Means how many logs have to decreased??
Great information I was diagnosed with cml February 2023 and I am taking 50 mg dasatnib and now my reports were in 2024 June( not detected) of cml

What do you need?
@@healCML for how long did you take the medicine
@@mariamkalule8519 I took my Tasigna for 8.5 years.

No. I started with 4 and eventually ended up taking 1.
Hie Stephen My name is Maulik and I am from India. First of all I have appreciate your videos for good information shared. I am diagnosed with CML CP in Feb 2024. I have been starting my Imanitib on 29/02/24 and I obtained CBC report perfectly. First time I have done PCR test on 22/03 and obtained 3.368% IS value and again I have done the PCR test 23/05 and obtained the 3.554% IS value. My all reports like CBC, SGPT and Screatine are normal. My HB is 14%, My WBC are 8800, My Platlets are 227000. I am little worried for PCR as it has to increased. This is the information of my treatment. I have completed 3 months of treatment.
Thank you for your comment and sharing your numbers. I would not worry about the PCR going from 3.368 to 3.554. Those numbers are very similar and you will need a few more PCR tests before you can say there is a distinct upward swing.
I have completed 3 month of treatment. Today I also met to my oncologist and he told me results are good and with in range.
@@healCMLThanking you for your comment😊
I was diagnosed wity CML at when i turnt 18, (22 now also male), i started dasatinib and after a year and half they took me off it (due to inflammed gland in jaw) and started nilotinib since have lost hair over time, and now it looks quite bad, dermatologist saif its a mix of telogen effluvium and androgenetic alopeicia. My doctor for CML recently asked me if i would like to change to Asciminib to help stop the hair loss. I recently started topical minoxidil but am unsure if i should stop it since its only been a few days.
Thank you for your comment and sharing your experience. It’s definitely a challenge to know what to do as you won’t know what the experience is like on a new drug. It would be interesting to see after some more time if the minoxidil works.
i was diagnosed CML the doctor told me 5 years medication now im taking Dasatinib (Sprycel) she told me is life time thank you for your channel hopefully im free cancer after 5yrs medication
Thank you for your comment and your support. Yes! Hoping you can be cancer free after 5 years.
Been watching your channel for reference and tips for my partner. We just received our 21st month results on treatment, and it’s our first increase. Latest was 0.011 and now it jumped to 0.069, they’re still good numbers but always a worry as you’re expecting a continuation of down trend. But from our small observations - the past three months we were less strict with our exercises and diet. We started to consume small amounts of alcohol a glass of wine or two once in a while. Also since the diagnosis we were consuming 6mg of curcumin c3 complex daily, but it ran out of stock lately and we stopped. So maybe thats a correlation with the increase.
Thank you for your comment and sharing your partner’s story. I have heard that curcumin can be good for CML so it will be interesting to see what would happen if you can get it again. It is definitely stressful to see an increase. When is the next test? Did the doctor express any concerns?
@@healCML no concerns were expressed, next test is in 3 months. As long as the increase isn’t above 1 log, theres not much worry.
Thank you
You're welcome

What is TKI?
TKI stands for Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor -- it is the name for the drugs CML patients take (Tasgina, Gleevec, etc.).
What is TKI?
Can I drink coffee while taking tasigna?
You should be able to drink coffee. But you should ask your doctor if it is OK to drink coffee during the time around taking your pill when you cannot eat.
A friend always has low WBC, RBC, hemoglobin, hemocit why
Is your friend on a TKI? This could be a side effect of the drug.
Hi 1st thank you for sharing your journey it’s an inspiration , I just want to ask does your pcr 0.00% are all zero’s (0.00000) and under “undetected”
Thank you so much for your comment. Every lab is different, but my PCR report doesn't get very exact. Most of the time it says less that 0.01%. Other times it will say there are no bcr-abl cells identified.
Hi 1st thank you for sharing your journey it’s an inspiration , I just want to ask does your pcr 0.00% are all zero’s (0.00000) and under “undetected”
Cml is a hereditry..... Cml patient can developed second cancer
Thank you for your question. This is a good question. I don't know the answer. But I have not read anything that specifically says that CML can lead to other cancers. It is best to live as healthy a life as possible to make you the risk of a second cancer is low.
My friend from india she is cml patient... Pcr last 5 year is o.00%... Her delivery in feb month and born a baby boy..... Her baby safe or any chance develop cml
@@maniaulakh308 Thank you for the comment. My understanding is that CML can not pass from the mother to the child, so the baby should be OK.
Thanks😊
I am newly diagnosed Cml . Now i am eat imatanib.
Thank you for your comment and sorry to hear about your diagnosis. If you have any questions for us, please let us know!
As a women loosing hair it’s upsetting. Can’t do anything with it feels like a Brillo pad, I’ve been told I’ll be on Imatinib for the rest of life so my hair will never recover. Been on Imatinib for just over a year, blood platters are in the right range so doing ok. Glad you’re doing great thanks to science.😊😊
Thank you for the comment and sorry to hear that you are dealing with hair loss. Over time, more and more people are able to stop taking their TKIs (after achieving 0% PCR for several years), so hopefully your blood tests continue in the right way and maybe going off the drug in the future is possible.
Please tell me about L248V
L248V is a mutation, meaning that certain TKI drugs will not work as well if you have this mutation.

@@maniaulakh308Did your doctor do a bone marrow biopsy? At diagnosis that is the best way to confirm that it is CML.
First pcr value 0.05% by biopsy.... Dr says k your not in chronic phase... But you have the chance cml when your bcr/abl value increase 0.1%.......so early diogonse start.... I have 10 year continued imatinib 400 mg.... 10 year continued bcr/abl0.00%... . any chance cml come back
Plz ans.... Share u think about this
🎉Congratulations on your 10 year mark!🎉 I am so happy for you! I’ve just been diagnosed with CML a few months back and I don’t really know where to turn. I’m on 400 mg of Imatinib, but I find it’s really hard on me. Nausea, headaches, diarrhea, insomnia, exhaustion, pain in my stomach, and now I’m starting to feel, some panic attacks this last week. I see a haematologist in London, Ontario but I want a second opinion from Toronto or a different doctor. My doctor is very nice, but I want a second opinion. The doctor was going to switch me to Sprycel, but apparently it causes pleural effusions, and I already have a smaller pleural effusion, so I can’t go on this sprycel. I guess they’ve all got very hard side effects, including heart failure, so I’m kind of scared to go off of Imatinib. As far as my blood count, the numbers look like it’s working… But I just had my first metabolical blood test done and waiting for the results. Crossing my fingers.
Thank you for your comment. Sorry to hear of all the side effects you are dealing with on your imatinib. That is definitely a lot to handle. I can understand getting a second opinion -- I think that is a good option and hope you can see a doctor soon. Do you know if nilotinib is an option for you? It's in the same family as imatinib, but as a second generation drug, perhaps it will have fewer side effects.
Do you think lack of sleep could lead to cancers like cml ? Did you notice a link between periods of bad sleep and bad pcr numbers ?
You ask some very good questions -- thank you! I think lack of sleep does not help with staying cancer-free. I know I was not getting enough sleep -- especially on the weekends. It is not the only reason I got CML, but I definitely think it could have contributed. As for the link between bad sleep and poor PCR results, I have not seen any correlation. My sleep is generally better than before I was diagnosed, but I still have occasions where I wake up in the middle of the night and can't fall back to sleep and none of that has impacted my PCR numbers.
@@healCML thanks a lot. You seem to say that other factors than sleep led to you to get cml. Were exposed to chemicals like benzen or to radiations ? Surprising facts in hospital they asked me whether i got the flu vaccine or the covid vaccine.
@@adil8701 I was not exposed to any chemicals, but I have heard that hi benzene exposure can cause CML.
My CML was designed during Covid, I was already high risk and along with the impact of other family issues and just going through a very lonely treatment process during crazy times my world fell apart and it cost me almost everything. My treatment plan is however progressing well.
Thank you for your comment. Sorry to hear about the challenges at your diagnosis...but glad to hear that your treatment is going well!
Hello Stephan I am still diagnose for CML n my platelet is low n wBC is normal n can u describe me about platelets please
Thank you for your comment. Platelets help prevent bleeding. How low is low for your platelets? Low platelets can be a side effect of the TKI drugs.
