Hello,
I'm Leanna. I upload motorcycle training videos ranging from CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) to DAS (Direct Access), ERS (Enhanced Rider Scheme) and Advanced lessons from my daily job as a motorcycle instructor. I also upload demonstration rides and occasional bike reviews.
I've been instructing since 2015 and my helmet camera is always on, so hopefully those of you new to riding, and those wishing to refresh your skills will find something useful on my channel.
I work closely with Roadcraft Nottingham, so if you haven't already, then head over to Russ's channel too where you will find a wider range of motorcycle related videos, as well as an excellent selection of instructional videos:

Thanks for looking, feel free to comment, like and subscribe, and see you soon.

Dont forget the difference between a raised one and a flat painted one.
They are treated the same whether flat or raised.
@@motorcyclelessonsuk check your high way code
@@eastlondon666 below is the section on mini roundabouts. Please highlight to us where it differentiates between rules for raised and rules for flat mini-roundabouts. 188 Mini-roundabouts. Approach these in the same way as normal roundabouts. All vehicles MUST pass round the central markings except large vehicles which are physically incapable of doing so. Remember, there is less space to manoeuvre and less time to signal. Avoid making U-turns at mini-roundabouts. Beware of others doing this. Laws RTA 1988 sect 36 & TSRGD regs 10(1) & 16(1) 189 At double mini-roundabouts treat each roundabout separately and give way to traffic from the right. 190 Multiple roundabouts. At some complex junctions, there may be a series of mini-roundabouts at each intersection. Treat each mini-roundabout separately and follow the normal rules.
@@motorcyclelessonsuk you can partially go over a flat painted mini roundabout as opposed to going around a raised mini roundabout.
@@eastlondon666 where does it say this specifically in the highway code? This is also vehicle dependent: if you are riding or driving a vehicle capable of going around the painted circle, you should go around it. Going over the painted circle on a motorcycle test where it is possible to go around it can and does result in a fail, because it is a MUST in the highway code.
As a fairly experienced rider looking to get back into bikes after a 20 year break its really helpful to watch this video to remind me of the strategies needed for safe riding. I only wish i had this sort of help at the start of my motorcycling adventures, back then with my car licence i just jumped onto a honda h100 and mixed it up with the traffic withoit even knowing how to ride the bike, cut up by a lorry on first outing andlots of damage to me and my bike which very nearly stopped me riding, it was only because i had no other choice at the time but to commute every day on it to work that i carried on but i still took too many risks looking back and omly by the grace of god am i still here today. Others werent so lucky......
This is a fantastic video! I have been practicing these by following your tips but I have noticed that I sit or lean to the left of the bike when going straight which then makes my left turns untidy and wobbly. Turning right I have no issues. Same with figure 8 exercises, very good at the right turn back in but I go very wide on the left turn in. Have you ever come across this occurring with your students? I am trying to figure out how to correct it but it keeps happening.
May I know what camera are you using to record your videos? Great content btw :)
Thank you 😊 This series was videoed on a GoPro Hero8, sound recorded through the Drift XL Pro.
@@motorcyclelessonsuk Amazing thank you for the answer. And I am happy to say I passed my Mod 2 test yesterday. Don't think I could have done it without your content <3
@@EyadRadwan well done 😊
V useful, reminders about safety are so good.
Thanks 😊
I live in Swindon and we're allowed to ride in most bus lanes here (if not all; I can't recall one disallowing motorcycles but I don't know every area). Is it OK to cross the solid white line to enter a bus lane when I'm allowed to use it? I see your students do it at 12:30 mark. I couldn't find any restrictions on that in the Highway Code, but maybe I just suck at searching :D
Yes, if you're allowed to use it, you can cross the line to get in and out. If you're not allowed then no. Thanks for the comment 😊
@@motorcyclelessonsuk Thank you!
Watching yourself get taught how to do the Mod 1 is great revision for re taking it to get the full license 😂😂
Ha, not many people can say that can they Matt?! 😉😂
Very helpful, never herd of preparing to stop and go at the same time 😮
Thank you 😊
Great advice as always 😊
Thanks 😊
I am 5’3 with a 28”inseam. I am used to putting my left foot down when coming to a stop then I will put my right foot down afterwards. I use both brakes and taper off the front when coming to a stop. I finish with more pressure on the rear brake. I really need to practice both feet down and get to know my front brake better. I have gotten into trouble when the left side of the road is lower. Not fun! 😊
This sounds very sensible to me. The camber can make all the difference - the key is in the assessment of it before you get there 😬😂
@@motorcyclelessonsuk 😊
i cannot believe you said about stopping on double yellow lines.
In what sense? During lessons students sometimes have to stop on double yellows if split up from the instructor as there is nowhere else to stop, so it's important that they are aware they shouldn't do this on test, unless given permission to do so.
@@motorcyclelessonsuk sorry totally disagree, please read. Waiting and parking (238 to 252) - THE HIGHWAY CODE. PS a part from that i do like your videos
great video!
@@peaceforchildren4303 thank you 😊
Hmmmm...how easy this looks,but....... in reality its more diferent :(
Practise, practise, practise. No one becomes a concert pianist overnight & it's the same with braking 😊
So when u say pull the clutch in are you “ coasting” or are you remaining in friction zone? Sorry if this is silly question 😅
If this is for the u turn, it's 6mph, clutch totally in, then gently find the beginning of the bite point if you need to, to finish the end of the turn. The 6mph gives enough momentum to carry the bike through the start of the turn, pulling in the clutch helps it to drop in and stops overrunning (going wide), being ready to use a little of the bite point to finish helps to bring the bike into the end of the turn. Sometimes this last bit of power is not needed and you have to be careful not to give it to much and run wide. Thanks 😊
Nice review, I've just upgraded from a CB300R to CB500 HORNET, which is the same as the CB500F. You comment on how light the clutch is on these bikes and it is. However, compared to the CB300R, I'm finding the gearbox a bit clunky, especially going into first and from 2 and 3rd. You don't mention this?
@@ronlysons6750 hi, it will only be clunky if you're putting it into first gear at the wrong speeds. It's highly likely that you're putting it down into first gear at too high speeds. Anything under about 8mph for first gear, otherwise you will hear a big "clunk" or " "bang". There is not problem with the bike, this is usually caused by user error. No offence intended 😉
@@motorcyclelessonsuk Thank you for your prompt reply, I only put it into 1st when the bike has stopped. If the bike is moving I just slip the clutch in 2nd gear if I need to. My only other experience with a motorcycle gearbox was my CB300R, that was really smooth and light. So maybe it's just me, maybe some are clunky, some are not. Lovely bike though, just has easy to ride as the CB300R, but the rider experience is much better.
I have noticet that problem when i have heavy backpack on...... its difficult to get stable to drive on to slow speed
Yes, your centre of balance will be different.
I still since driving on bike 1.5 years worried to much make mistakes on road and this is what makes me drive less on the road and get experoence :(
I still cant get heated glows....prices its so high....uuuuu..... :)
@@juristimma5366 yes they're expensive but worth the investment if you can save up for a good pair. I buy quite a lot of mine secondhand.
@@motorcyclelessonsuk hmmm.... Did not realise its possible get secondhand of this.... Thanks for recommendation :)

Englands roads are awful...... to busy . I driving on motorbike around 1,5 years ( L plate ) and still hard to get used to and its stressful
It is busy and can be stressful, but it's your training and skills that will keep you safe.
Love at min 4:44 having trouble not putting right foot down So getting left out sooner, no one else suggests that 🤔 so simple
@@shaspaz it works too! 😂😊
Great explanation wow thank u 🙏
You're welcome 😊
I've got one question. My instructor was taught me when parked somewhere safe on the left, after checking mirrors and shoulders when no traffic behind i shouldn't indicate right to get off. Becouse you indicating to no-one. It's clear road behind you. It's this correct?
@@bodziobsz if the road is totally clear in both directions and there are no pedestrians about or cars emerging from nearby side roads then yes, I wouldn't indicate. However on the test I don't see any harm in indicating to move off anyway, in case you've missed something, just making sure you cancel it. Your choice. Thanks for the question 👍
@@motorcyclelessonsuk ty. Pass my mod 1 today without any fault. Mod 2 tomo so trying to gain some more knowledge. Great channel. Thank you.
@@bodziobsz well done and best of luck for tomorrow 😊 thanks for the kind words.
This is absolutely brilliant! I took my CBT on a little twist and go and I'm independently learning how to ride a geared bike; this is one bit I had yet to grasp, thank you!
@@gutsguiltgreed639 you're welcome, glad you've found it useful 😊
So many times we can see on the roads dont have painted signs and thats make confused me

Loved this! Thank you! 😊
You're welcome, thanks for letting me know 😊
I’v been ridin 15 years and it happened to my on my triunph gt1050 a few weeks ago with all the panniers on fully loaded. It’s when i tried to pick it up that i realised how little strength i have 🤦🏻
Wet roads are fine, its the oil and diesel on the roads, keeps you on your toes.great video.
I agree. Thanks for the comment 😊
I tought there was something wrong with my bike 😅 but it was something wrong with me 😂
😂 glad this has cleared that one up 😂👍
Great video. Lovely explanations with the theory behind the actions for using and not using indicators clearly given. Thank you. My instructor’s mantra after indicating and manoeuvring, “Attention forward, signal off”. This finally made the cancelling stick!
Thank you and you're welcome 😊
Revmatching is not an efficient way to slow down? First time i hear this…maybe you were referring to something else? Side note: yeah massive difference from 4s to parallels…i can be in 2nd at 40mph and still in eco on versys 650 (they are known to like revs) but at the same time i agree that being in a higher gear alleviates the choppiness starting to love ur vids
You'd need to give me a time code for specific wording used. Glad you're enjoying the channel. Rev matching isn't necessary if you're already matching your gear to your speed: under normal road riding conditions rev matching isn't usually needed.
Hello, I just wanted to say Thank you so much for all the videos. I passed mod 2 on 4th attempt, and your videos helped me a lot.
Congratulations 🎉, thanks for the kind words 😊
The notes for my Mod1 next month are "Shorty" 😂 I can't wait to get stuck in. Bril work by the way, thank you!

Ok, errrrm I might need some funding for that 😂😂😂
Leanna, such an amazing instructor, great video, I think your voice is so soothing, and easy to listen to. Than you . I needed this, I just bought my 2nd bike went from a 500cc bike (450 lb) to a 19cc (700lb) and I'm so nervous during each stop, This is definitely helping.

You're welcome. Thanks for letting me know ☺️
Can you do an upload on what gear to be in for different size roundabouts .I find 2 for medium roundabouts and 3 for larger roundabouts good. Mini roundabouts perhaps 1 or 2.
Yes, I'll add it to the list. I agree with everything you've said, but I'd probably still get it into 2nd on a mini even if having to stop & change up again once setting off 😊
nice to see pot holes are a nation wide problem
Haha, apparently so!😂
@@motorcyclelessonsuk I passed my mod 2 yesterday, just wanted to thank you for the advice given, got 9 minor faults but who cares!
@@Studiggler well done on passing, fabulous news 👍🏻. Might be worth revisiting the videos in the most common mod 2 mistakes playlist, as a refresher from time to time. I say to my students each fault is a safety issue where you could have done something to keep yourself safer, so it's worth staying on top of small mistakes. Enjoy your new licence 😊
Have my mod 2 tomorrow and very excited but somewhat nervous, i know my main faults are road positioning for turns and forgetting the occasional lifesaver which i never forget riding my 125 so hopefully i can iron those out before!
Best of luck ☺️ and thanks for the comment.
