2023 Honda CB750 Hornet Review [instructor's dual vlog]

My test ride and initial thoughts in a review on the 2023 Honda CB750 Hornet. Russ from @RoadcraftNottingham came along and we filmed a dual vlog from two qualified motorcycle instructors' perspectives.
The Honda CB750 Hornet is a fun, nimble and powerful motorcycle to ride. This was the most fun I have had on a motorbike in quite a while. We talk about: rider modes, suspension, power, brakes, handling in bends, engine braking, seat height, and general feel of this middleweight naked motorcycle.
Thanks for watching. Please comment, like, subscribe & share.
See you soon,
Leanna

    I must have watched dozens of reviews on this bike over the last few months. And I can definitely say that I have learned more about whether I, as a normal, everyday, non-bike-vlogging-professional would actually like to own and ride this bike than I ever have from literally any of the other review vids I’ve watched. Thank you! Please do more.

    I have had a Honda Transalp 700 as my first bike for the last 18 months. Now looking at moving on to something a little pacier. This is one of the options. Though I’m 6ft4 and 150Kg so not sure it’s the right frame size for me. Great dual vlog review. Keep up the good work.

    Hi Dean, I suspect you might find it a touch small but still worth a test ride to find out. I'm only 5ft2. Maybe something more like the Africa Twin? Let me know how you get on 😊

    Outside of the constantly improving Indian /Chinese models, it seems the Hornet really is (I'm not going to say a bargain) good value for money in today's market. It's a very tempting 2nd bike. Enjoyable video 😊

    I agree. For this money, you get a lot of bike, and with the reliability and build quality of a Honda. I'm still waiting for Christmas 🤔🎁🤷😂😂

    These CB750s are getting a lot of great reviews. Can confirm the CB500X clutch is also super light, not unexpectedly. Does the selected riding mode "stick" if you turn the engine off and on? I expect you wouldn't want to surprise a learner with an unexpected change.

    Hi, I actually can't recall the answer to this, sorry 🙄, all the more reason for you to go and have a test ride 😂. I might expect it to defer to standard mode upon switching the bike off, in case we were to subsequently ride off in wet or bad conditions without checking, having previously been making the most of sport mode on a dry sunny day. But that's just my hunch... Let me know if you find out 😊

    @@motorcyclelessonsuk Sadly my local Honda dealer, Ecosse in Aberdeen, has closed, so it's a six hour roundtrip to the nearest one now! I had a squizz in the manual (why don't Honda make it easy to find these them?) and it seemed a bit ambiguous, but I expect the value sticks. Thanks for the vid!

    Nice review, I've just upgraded from a CB300R to CB500 HORNET, which is the same as the CB500F. You comment on how light the clutch is on these bikes and it is. However, compared to the CB300R, I'm finding the gearbox a bit clunky, especially going into first and from 2 and 3rd. You don't mention this?

  • @motorcyclelessonsuk

    @motorcyclelessonsuk

    @@ronlysons6750 hi, it will only be clunky if you're putting it into first gear at the wrong speeds. It's highly likely that you're putting it down into first gear at too high speeds. Anything under about 8mph for first gear, otherwise you will hear a big "clunk" or " "bang". There is not problem with the bike, this is usually caused by user error. No offence intended 😉

    @@motorcyclelessonsuk Thank you for your prompt reply, I only put it into 1st when the bike has stopped. If the bike is moving I just slip the clutch in 2nd gear if I need to. My only other experience with a motorcycle gearbox was my CB300R, that was really smooth and light. So maybe it's just me, maybe some are clunky, some are not. Lovely bike though, just has easy to ride as the CB300R, but the rider experience is much better.

    'Gunning it' then talking about the power? You didn't get over 8k revs ....the qs works great when you are getting a move on and especially on downshifts when you're breaking hard on a bumpy road, you can hold on to the left bar with a full grip, not an open grip as you operate the clutch.

  • @motorcyclelessonsuk

    I don't think we ride with quite the same approach. It may be an advantage to you, but my preference is not to have a quickshifter. I simply don't need one. Thanks for your comment though 😊

  • @filoIII

    They could lower the price w/ a model w/out the dopey quickshifter and riding modes. Honda would own the world.

  • @motorcyclelessonsuk

    @motorcyclelessonsuk

    The base model with just the riding modes is only £7300, which is quite a lot of bike for that money. The (unnecessary) quickshifter is part of the "sport pack" which is an additional £600. Thanks 😊
