Nice review. When I first saw CB750 as the model moniker, brought back memories of riding the first CB750 in the early 70’s. Four pipe model with the removable baffles creating a unique sound in the day when twins ruled the road. Cheers!

Started on a '02 CB600F and I could not have wished for a better first bike as a all rounder. Cheap, reliable and has enough poke to learn a lot from! The 600cc engine puts a massive grin on my face everytime I wind it up. Hornets will always hold a special place in my heart

Seriously ! I just changed my Z650 tyres from the stock Dunlops and my goodness what a difference the new tyres are. They aren't even as good as the Road 5 (I got the older Pirelli Angel ST) but they are leagues better than my old Dunlops. Manufacturers shouldn't compromise on the tyres

This bike sounds to be a little gem which should not be overlooked &, as per usual, you have nailed this review...

I'm a Honda rider and a fan of their bikes generally, but what really strikes me about the CB750 is just how overly bland it is. There is no real design language beyond 'committee approved' by a brief that included 'inoffensive', 'approachable', and perhaps 'urban'. Great review as usual TMF, thanks!

Yes I agree the design is a little "meh"

Top notch review as always. The bike is a great value proposition, even if the looks are a bit bland -- they're using the same headlight module as on the Transalp/500X/F to keep the cost down. I suspect there will be a CBR750R version of this at some point, too. Some people think Honda bikes are a bit too vanilla, but for me that just means easy to ride and own. Be safe!

A CBR750R (Interceptor) sounds great to me. But they should find another 10-20 hp from the engine. 90-120hp is a great place for a sport bike on the road.

As Gary said below moving to a Hornet might be considered a downgrade for me, but, 91hp and enough torque, light weight, sensible seat, just enough tech and a flipping knockout price, it will be a serious contender for many buying groups not just A2+! At that price, you can add the luggage, a small screen, heated grips etc. Want you to arrange a back to back with the Suzuki GSX8 though as that looks pretty damned good too.

I don’t understand why people talk about down grading tbh. It is just another bike/ a different bike 🤷‍♂️. It also depends on what you want from a bike. If you want to go fast and do some track days you buy a sports bike, but is it down grading if you then buy a commuter bike when your life changes? I don’t think so. It is simply different, not better or worse. 👍

Great show as always, thanks very much 😊. Honda, like Yamaha and Triumph, developed this engine or platform with several different models in mind and I must say they did a fantastic job. With the Transalp and Hornet released recently they offer two very affordable no-nonsense bikes targeting quite different groups of riders and it seems they respond well. Great move Honda. For me both bikes do not attract me very much, but if rumours come true, a retro style naked and a scrambler will follow and they could arouse my interest. 👍🏼

The camera work was rather good and in particular the way we could see everything behind very clearly in the mirrors. This was a well done review. Can’t wait to see that bike in person, that and the new Suzuki competitor as well.

I agree with you there! Not enough variety in the engine types these days, V twins & V 4's are dying out now and I know it's down to costs and emissions, but i 'd love for Honda to do a triple engine for a change, that would have spiced their range up a little.

Great review as always, Andy! I ride a 1998 Honda Hornet 600F, 16'' front wheel, twin exhaust, no electronic gadgets, no fuel gauge ( am old school ) and she makes me smile with every ride and is a lot of fun with plenty of torque! I do have to say, I do like the old looks much better and with its wide seat I'm very comfy with my 19 stone, 6'5'' frame. All the best and safe ride!!

Yes, the old style Hornet is a much better looking more individual machine. I remember seeing the 250 4 cylinder Hornet being brought in as a used grey import by Batts Motorcycles warehouse at Biggin Hill Airport, (i worked next door) and thought what an amazing looking bike they were back then.

@@manitolas Hey! Yup, the early Hornets all came with a 16" front, until they changed to 17" by early 2000 I believe, correct me if I'm wrong. You def have to watch yourself going into corners because you might lose your front very quickly and the only tyres available with 16"front are the Bridgestone Battleax that were designated for the first Hornets coming out the factory.

Definitely a bike I would be looking at. One I hadn't even considered, but the tour pack version looks ideal for me, and for that price, you'd have to give it a look over.

Great review. I'm more interested in the Transalp that uses tye same engine due to the ergonomics of that bike, and the fact that it is so much lighter than many adventure style bikes capable of distance work with a pillion. My hopes are high that this will be good too, though wish it was available with road wheels and tyres.

I took the plunge and ordered this as my first big bike, coming from the CB125R. Was a bit nervous about going for an untested bike but you have just put my mind at rest, thanks! Great review and I'll be following for more hornet stuff

After 50 bikes and 50 yrsvof riding I went and tried one of these. Ordered one straight away, thanks for a great review. Anyone interested I a triumph Speedmaster, great condition 😂.

Finally a good 750 from Honda. Would love to see a Rebel 750 with this engine. I'd put it on the top of my list.

Passed my test in 2012 and first bike was a 2 year old Hornet 600, think that model looked nicer and of course an inline four, but must admit the newbie sounds great value for money, although for 7k I'd get a 3 year old Street triple or MT09. Cheers Andy great review. Segura Nacho looks good.

Great one mr Flyer! I guess this bike is in many ways similar to the CB650R in terms of fork, brakes and suspension. Which are all well. I had one a couple of years ago, and I noticed that the surface on the wheels were quite "soft". After 20 000km there were several scratches and holes through the surface from stones, and especially at the rear wheel, marks from my lock. It was a chainlock in soft fabric. I did my best not to scratch...but there were marks all over. I ended up painting the wheels. Now, I don't suggest you go on with a screwdriver just to test! But keep an eye on those wheels! Cheers!

Can't say I care much for the look..seems a bit transformer-ish to me but besides that I think Honda has hit it out of the park! Power, features and especially price......very good! Looking forward to tour additional reviews and comments..Cheers!

Some of the bikes look like some sort of bug similar to a grasshopper. This is what the young designers grew up watching in TV cartoons. I still like the bike's overall characteristics

I bought a Honda CB 500 F last year and took my drivers license (A) and in the end of the year I preoredered this bike in the black and red color. I think I will like it a lot after coming from the 500 F :) Looking forward for more 750 Hornet riding from you

Still have my500f, doing my A soon. But I really don't know if I need the extra brap, the sound characteristic is the only thing interesting to me about this one. If they released a cbr, with a 180 rear tire I think I would look into it, but then they also sell the cbr650r.

Enjoy John - Lightweight and fun little thing - suspension may be an issue for you though being a, ahem, larger gentleman I'd be interested to see how it fairs....felt quite soft with me aboard. I'm out on this one again this afternoon filming further segments for my in depth review.....not everything about the bike is perfect!

I have had a pair of these PMJ's for a a couple of summers and they are great.

Great review Andy, got a fair bit of crud over it for such a short ride should keep you busy with the jet wash & sponge.

Great review and thanks again for taking the time to do the review. Does information on the screen have a gear indicator? Would you also think if a small screen would fit on the front to stop rubbish kicking up behind the tft like MT-07?

Yes it does have a gear indicator....

There was space to improve the view in the right hand mirror by moving the bracket on the handlebar closer to the switchgear. Left hand mirror bracket is up against the switchgear so it’s as good as it can be. Careless setting up/PDI by the dealer.

Props to you for being the first. I literally can’t even see one of there in my local Honda shop.

I'm really impressed with this bike! I have the 2nd generation Hornet (09 reg) and I love it as a first big bike! More than welcome to review it Andy if you wanted to. 😁 But looking at what Honda has done to Hornet by making it "another P-Twin" but making it well priced and very competitive with tech and capacity. Would definitely choose this over the competition.

This bike like many of today's motorcycles needs a longer front fender. Those headers will be toast after one winter season. If I lived in the UK I'd be hesitant for tail tidy after all the huge UK license plate is humongous. 😁😁 Thanks for the review.

A really great review on such an eagerly awaited bike, I'm sure Honda will be using that engine across multiple platforms. I'd be keen to hear you view on its fuelling smoothness in low speed traffic please, thankyou.

Thanks for the great vid. I had a hornet 600s a while back great bike handled well ,fast enough sounded great ( remus exhaust), looks like Honda have done the same with this one, personally I am not keen on the wasp face headlight but would still ride one Honda make great bikes!

Really looking forward to this bike coming to the US! In your subsequent reviews, I’d love to hear how you think it’d do on the occasional track day. Seems like a great all rounder and fairly sporty!

@@glenns001 Got the cb500f, pretty much the same bike with 48hp and little less tech. It's so much fun I really don't know if I want the hornet or the cbr650r because of their better sound characteristics. If Honda popped a 270° crank in the 500, I'm swapping mine for a new one instantly.

Back in "69 I was racing for and working at a dealer and I got the first CB750 to arrive there. I LOVED that bike, as I had been riding Norton on the street then. The Honda was a revelation - so much bike for so little money - and it seems that Honda Powersports has continued to offer a bike with the world's best value, and performance for the dollar. It's just too bad for me, seeking a new ride this year, that Honda has decided to not sell it here in North America this year. I suppose they just won't be able to supply North America as well as Europe and Asia with how high the demand is expected to be. And, as I don't want to wait another year (I haven't ridden since before Covid, when I sold my V4 Honda Interceptor), I'll be looking at another brand's offerings. I love the look of the Speed Twin, so it will get a good look over. Keep riding safe!

Nice review Andy, been waiting for you to get on the hornet. I hope you don’t find something bad haha. It looks great with so much standard stuff that you don’t get on the competitors. As a shorter female rider I'm definitely interested in this as my next bike. I currently ride a lowered Yamaha MT07, but I'd really like to see that riding position in more detail - even you sat static on the bike with your feet up so we can see your back/arm/knee position would be good, please.

If i could have more than one bike I'd like this for sunny days commuting, decent package for the price! Great bike for new riders on a budget!

It seems like a very decent offering & is a hell of a lot of bike for the money but I'm struggling with the looks as it just seems so bland imo. As a 100% bias Honda rider, I wasn't that fussed on it until I saw your vid. As you say, riding it in your home environment makes a bike difference. I would love to understand why manufacturers are moving away from 4 cylinder engines - as you say parallel twins everywhere (for good reason) - 270 degree crank means it sounds great too! I very much want one now. Long live the Hornet!

Fort Nine did a video a while ago where he compared an older CB360 with the new CB300F. The CB360 was a twin and the the 300F (now it's the CB300R) is a single which sounds like a step back. Ryan explained that it had to do with advances in metallurgy. In the old days the engine castings were weaker. A twin cylinder engine has twice as many power pulses as a single, but each pulse needs to be only half as strong, so the castings could be weaker, which allowed them to make the motor lighter. Nowadays the engine castings are stronger, so the single cylinder can be lighter than a twin and still make similar power and better torque. It's the same thing in the 750 class. Advances in casting technology make the twin cylinder engine much more viable, especially in the marketplace where it's easier to sell a bike for ₤8k than for ₤12k.

Great review Andy, I'm sort of OK with this Hornet, but compared to Honda's classic 750's over the years it doesn't make me overly excited, sign of the times I guess 🙄.

Very informative review, thanks. I wanted to see it ridden around lanes on damp roads. On your walk arounds, I noticed the bike was totally mud splattered, front and back. The radiator and shock were covered in mud. Are the mudguards no good? On a day like that I wouldn't want to be doing a major clean.

hi! thanks for the review! looking to buy this bike... i was kind of nervous watching the wet asphalt... how was it in tight corners? i've read stuff like it has a snappy throttle and i'm wondering if it'd be slipping in corners etc. i own a ktm lc4 atm and it handles all terrain like nothing else... this is going to be a weird change for me! also wondering about that rear 160/60 tire, how does that handle? how about fuel consumption? looking forward to the second review! ps: I loooove how he bike looks. LOL! cheers!

The Forza 750 came with the 4 way 'vane' as well. A relief after the button salad fitted to the Africa Twin! This looks like a great value bike and coming with Road 5's shows Honda are serious. They will wear out sooner than retail tyres but they are a grippy soft carcass tyre. Loved em on my NC750X. The engine sounds great and a nice balance of power and torque.

There is a retro version of the 500, so I don't think this dream is too far off. They might drop one after dropping a cbr version of this one.

Another great review. I've been looking forward to you trying this bike. At £7k for such a complete package, I think these will sell in big numbers. In fact, my local dealership had already sold their allocation for this year. I'm a little disappointed that Honda had priced the new Transalp at £9500, bearing in mind it's a mechanically similar bike and they share a lot of parts. It's hard to see where the extra £2500 comes from. The salesman I spoke to said they were hoping it was going to be between £8k and £8,500 in view of the price of the hornet. This bike is an absolute bargain.

Been saying the same about the new Suzuki vstrom 800 as well,just a rip off,both Transalp and the 800DE should have been around £8500

Great review. Maybe you can compare this bike to the CB650R. I know its a different engine, inline4 but more about handling, comfort and usability. I prefer the look of the CB650R and ofcourse the sound but other than that, not sure. I’m 6,3 tall so i’m not sure which one suit me the best. Do mostly street/town comuting riding. Thanks again
