Can you filter through traffic on a test,,,?

I was told by my instructor that it’s not advisable - if you were to make an error in filtering where you would have been safer to hold back, you’re likely to be marked down - possibly fail.

I wouldn't recommend it. However I have known of examiners in exceptionally bad traffic when it's safe to suggest students could "make their way past the traffic if they feel confident to do so", butt hat doesn't mean they should do it without being give the go ahead first. It is rife with risk and much easier to miss something and cause faults etc. Good question though, I should've included this! Thanks 😊

@@motorcyclelessonsukIsn't that kind of like saying 'If you feel like risking everything for the sake of waiting a minute or two, go ahead? I think that's a fair comment on an Advanced test, I'm not sure that's 'fair' on your first test. Kind of damned if you do, damned if you don't. You're already under enough stress as it is without making it harder on yourself. I hope I'd have had the sense and strengh to wait. (Just my opinion)

I took the test in Sweden last year. I remember the warm-up ride and practice with slow- and high speed maneuvers I had before the actual test, it felt terrible. I felt so off and disconnected. But I decided to not dwell on it. A while later during the test, I did put my foot down towards the end of the first half of the slow speed maneuvers part. That's not automatically a fail but when we practice obviously you shouldn't put your foot down unless the test calls for it. Either way, I briefly bobbed my head and shook it in disappointment but quickly decided to finish the rest of the maneuver strong. It went well, I went really slow and without putting any feet down. The examiner didn't even ask me to redo it (you get one redo in total, for both tests combined). When I performed the high speed maneuvers test it went swimmingly, no issue at all. In traffic, there were a couple of situations where I thought I had messed up. But as Leanne says, put it behind you and live in the present. In the end it wasn't an issue and I got my A-license, first try!

Hey, I just want to share this. I was so nervous I took 4 dumps between the ride out with instructor and test. I couldn't pee straight, mouth was dry ,struggled to read number plate even though I couldn't it fine. Then just as I pulled away the examiner asked me if I'd like to clip my helmet up. I shouted have I failed. He replied another four feet and you'd be past the gate. I turned 2nd exit from the wrong lane but still did it..and whoever is reading this you can too. I have a very deeply held belief that I'm not a real person or that I am not proper in someway.. I have no mirrors in my house because I hate myself. But I have done my test. You can too.

I was very lucky.... I passed in 1976....😲 I hadn't had any training......so I had no choice but to ride how I always did. I'd been riding for about 16 months. (Honda SS50 (before your time probably...ask the other half...then a Yamaha RS100) Luckily, my examiner stood on a street corner and observed from afar...🙂 I got 'lost'...😲 His fault ...IMO...even now 🙂 He sent me around again on a 'condensed' circuit... I knew what he was looking for...shoulder checks (probably more important back then on a test than they are now?? You couldn't do anything without a shoulder check back then...and I probably still 'overdo' it now ) and a left turn that doubled back on itself...say 120'.... then just as I started to accelerate, he did an 'emergency stop'....Anyway...I passed. I'm not sure if it's still the same now, but I made 'errors' on my bike and car test in my eyes, never 'give up' because you've made a mistake, put it behind you and carry on and ride your best ride.
