    Mad that the mountains still have snow on them in mid summer. Hope you manage to deal with the pests. Awesome to hear you love the bike as much now as you did when you got it... you do have some stunning roads to play bikes on.

    Hi Pete, yep, I really love the Meteor. It goes well enough in the mountains to have some fun on but not so much that you need to be in fear of losing your license. I hope to get another larger bike someday but I suspect that I will soon conclude that actually, the 350 is enough. I ride bikes to de-stress and I suspect that if I had something much more powerful, my rides would suddenly become stressful 👹 But yes, it is an experiment I intend to make at some point. I want to see if the 350 has cured me of big bike lust forever or not ! Cheers Pete, enjoy yours ! Garry & Ruby

    @@HippoDrones You're getting there Pete but you're probably still a bit young mate. I think I have finally reached the age where I want to slow down and just enjoy being out on a bike without trying to go fast. On my last track day I pulled in after two sessions and went home at lunchtime. Something in me just said, "that's enough, been there, done that !". Probably an age thing but I must say that the 350 is providing more genuine riding enjoyment than any of the other bikes I've owned. And I definitely ride bikes to de-stress, so don't need the stress of trying to ride fast. I'd probably still enjoy brief blasts of crazy acceleration if I had a fast bike though. I do miss that. That's why I think I probably will buy another larger bike at some point. Just to scratch that itch and hopefully go no further with it 🙂 It's a shame we can't have the right bike for every mood, it would be too many. You must slowly be getting there though !😉

    Hi Andy, I think you are underestimating the effect of constant, never-ending wind. It can really grind you down like nothing else. You hear it 24/7. You hear it when you are sat in the living room. If it never stops, it starts to drive you mad. This winter it even destroyed my garden fence. I'd still prefer it to permanent rain because I'm a biker but it is much more constantly in your face than rain is. You just can't escape from it. Not even indoors. It would just be nice to experience a calm day again ! We're up to five rats caught and counting, so far. I think we must have almost all of them. The bait is lasting much longer in the traps now ! Cheers Andy, Garry

    Evening Garry, yes I was a tad flummoxed by the state of that road on your first attempt, especially as it's a yellow road on this here favourite map of mine, but living amongst the comparatively stable UK roads, it's easy to forget that you're in seriously mountainous surroundings across there - yet another road on my to-do list in October. Cheers Garry. 😎

    @@martintraffordmoorlandbike7121 Hi Martin. Yes, they will get a lot of snow and ice up there in the winter and over time that probably destroys the surface. But credit to the highways bods for keeping it pothole free and doing a great job of removing the landslide. That road should provide great views of snow capped mountains in the winter months, so I am hoping to go up there with Norman to experience that next winter ( although I‘ll probably have to ride through some snowy roads to get there 😱). Should be a great road for your plans Martin. Take that road down into Gérgal and head back towards Mojacar via some scenic route. Not long now Martin. Time is flying ! Take care, Garry

    But, why?

  • @economicalrides
    @economicalrides9 күн бұрын

    Hi Steven. Apparently there is some legislation in Asia which makes concessions if the vehicle cannot exceed 120 kph. The vehicle is classified differently. I'm not sure if it has to do with tax or licensing but there is some classification defined as "with a top speed not exceeding 120 kph" ( and possibly cubic capacity < 400 cc ? ) and that is why the RE 350s have this limiter. The larger bikes do not have a limiter, only the 350s. It's strange that they don't flash a different software to the export bikes which don't need this restriction but currently they don't. Without the restrictor, the bikes will hit about 135 kph ( indicated ) I believe, so we are losing about 13 kph due to the limiter 🤷‍♂ Fortunately I can avoid fast roads almost completely and rarely have to exceed 100 kph, so the restrictor doesn't bother me in practice, apart from the fact that it's there in the first place of course ! Cheers Steven

    Hi Wolfgang ! Thanks, glad you enjoyed this little unplanned video 🙂 Yes, it was definitely a rat, the large feet also gave it away. Unfortunately it does appear as though he had a partner rat. Yesterday the trap had been set off and was lying on its side, but no rat inside. I reckon he must have just about got out before the door shut, maybe just got his tail caught as he left and then he dragged the trap behind him for a few steps before shaking it off. The guy with the adjoining garage is now also setting traps because they get in there too. So hopefully we'll have the second one removed soon. Maybe I'll use the Meteor for this one ! 😂 Cheers Wolfgang, Garry

    Hi Noel, it's something a lot of testers fail to pick up on. They say that the RE 350s are just a bit too slow and gutless without realising that they are probably riding bikes with just a few hundred miles on them. These particular bikes keep on improving up to about 2000 miles, so the reviewers are rarely getting a genuine impression of what the bikes will be like, once they are fully run in. Once they have 2000 miles on them, I would say that they are just about adequate FOR ANYTHING. I never find my Meteor lacking. Maybe on a motorway, uphill and into a strong headwind it might struggle to hold a speed but fortunately I can avoid that scenario ! As much as I enjoyed the looks and the sound of the Classic 350, if there was one bike I knew that I couldn't live without, then it was clearly the Meteor. I don't miss the Classic now that it's gone but I know that I would have missed the Meteor ! Three years on and I still love it like I did on the first day. I bought it blind, couldn't test one, reviews weren't out at the time but as it turned out, it is almost certainly one of the best purchases I have ever made. It's such a special bike ! Enjoy yours Noel, Garry

    Was gonna mention this on your last vid but you're lucky to have a garage. Have to keep my fleet outside. Covering them is a crap shoot, though. When they're covered, it's a bike B&B for the local cats and the Black Widows love them covered too. One cat decided to leave this Earth under the Spyder and the dealer found 5 Black Widows in the Meteor at the last service. For some reason they both leave the Navi alone. Anyway many props for letting the rat loose.

    Hi Mark. Urgh. Sounds grim. I do not like spiders ! I much prefer rats ! Yes, covering things outside is not really a solution either. I see that with a covered BBQ in the garden for instance. When you come to use it, remove the cover, there always seems to be a ton of creepy crawlies and animal pellets all over the cover and it's all a bit icky. My garage is very dusty, not clean at all, but it is certainly better than having the bikes under covers outdoors, even if rats do get in there from time to time. Thanks Mark. I will be going up to the garage later today to see if the rat had a partner up there ( which is likely, apparently ). Hi Ken. He looked mildly terrified when we arrived at our destination. Not sure why. I was riding responsibly 🤷‍♂ Oh yes, a police stop would have made for an excellent addition to that video. I could have put up some wrongly translated misinterpretations of the conversation with the police officers and it could have been hilarious. As I always say, coppers never show up when you want them to, only when you don't ! Yes, it wasn't a Ken Brooks level of cleaning on Norman but it was decent enough. For once I used the pressure washer instead of a hosepipe and to be fair it did do an excellent job of blowing the crap off. I basically just pressure washed and then dried Norman with a microfibre cloth thing. Now that the main crap is off, Normans next wash will involve degreaser and then I can get the wheels, swing arm, side and centre stands and lower subframe clean and shiny. I didn't want to be crawling about in the big puddle I'd created with the pressure washer, so just dried those bits off and left them slightly greasy for now. But as I am sure you feel too, it's nice to see that that disgusting crud encrusted thing that used to be your motorcycle can come back to looking more or less like it looked when you bought it. It's just a kind of peace of mind when you see that after a long time of not seeing it ! Cheers Ken. Love to the pups ! Garry & Ruby ❤🐕
