Explorin' Norman - Norman Tackles Another New Trail And Takes Me Along For The Ride !!!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Join Norman and I as we explore another new scenic mountain trail here in Almeria, Spain.
On a gorgeous day Norman, my 2023 Himalayan 411, decided to take me into the mountains to try out another new trail that he has had his eye on for a while.
It's always exciting to go down an unfamiliar trail, not knowing what to expect, or even if you will come out the other side where you intended.
As it turned out, this was a nice relaxing trail with a decent surface to ride on and subsequently a wonderful time was had by all.
And off course, Ruby gets a "sossidge" at the end !

Thanks Quent. I haven't said it in a video yet but since I rode Norman UP my 'Trail of Death' I have come to the conclusion that Norman is a keeper. He is such a perfect bike for the trails that I ride and also practical for doing a bit of shopping or taking out on the roads in the summer. If ever there was a bike to keep for as long as you are able to ride, it's Buddy, closely followed by Norman. I don't see myself ever selling either, unless they start to cause me problems. I really do have the perfect two bikes for my weekend riding. I am thinking of adding a third bike just for giggles, but then it will be a second-hand purchase. Just something to ride for a year or two and then swap out. I definitely don't need a THIRD keeper ! Norman is just brilliant and I have the comfort of knowing that every time I drop him, I am not doing 1000s of EURs worth of damage. That'll do for me ! Why pay more ? Cheers Quent, Garry & Ruby

Hi Mike, yep. Just scratching the surface really. Once you head up towards Calar Alto there are more trails going off left and right. But just in this area, I now have enough trails to go up there and ride about for two or three hours, without going further afield. So it is definitely going to become my local off-road playground. The trails all have their own characteristics and different levels of challenge too, so plenty of variety. Unfortunately the off-road season here is so short. It's going to take me years to see just a fraction of the local trails. We can only ride off-road from mid October through to the end of May. And that is the time of year when we usually get very few nice riding days. So add in the usually stormy weather to the six and a bit months of time when we are allowed to ride up there and you end up not getting too many nice riding opportunities per year. But it's ok. I'll hopefully be riding Norman for a good few years yet ! Cheers Mike. New bike being delivered on Friday ? Garry & Ruby

Hi Peter, well actually, these are single track trails with occasional overtaking spots, so where you ride is pretty much immaterial. If I encounter traffic, then of course I go to the right but generally I ride where I like and where I think there is the best surface. I only met a car coming the other way once so far and when that happens, it happens in slow motion, so you always have plenty of time to pick a side ! But generally you ride where you like, where the surface is easiest and only worry about traffic rules once you encounter some ! @@economicalridesI keep forgetting, after you piped and take the stem out ( I don't follow the rule of waiting for it to cool) pull it out over your sink or garbage can. 1 in every 20 or so, if the charcoal filter is a little tight to get in when cleaning, and you smoke it and the moisture increases the width of the filter and pulling out the stem it pops off the end cap of the filter and now you have 30 small black pellets to clean up. FYI! just a hint from your brother Blake!😂😮😢 those are the three emotions you will have when it happens

@@BlakesPipes That's a good tip, thanks Blake. Yes, these new filters seem to get soggy and quite limp, don't they ? The ones I had before, where you had a blue bit on the mouth end, were a lot more robust. I am actually going to create a pipe only ashtray by glueing one of those corks in the middle of one of my cigar ashtrays and will then be sure to dismantle the pipe over that, just in case ! I can imagine that the charcoal granules would be a pain to clean up ! Thanks Blake 🙂
