Tbh while watching this, I did think wasn't there more space to get through, why he has to walk up to kotoko and kin Chan and ask if he can pass by. Yeah and small taks is we don't prefer, we find it troublesome, waste of time and energy.

Tbh introverts are most of the time tend to be perfectionist, amd if they are, honestly we hate to even let anyone touch the so called perfect stuff even I it's just a tie. But he let kotoko to adjust the tie which was already fine, gosh I can't digest it. I must admit he really admires her.

His character is so relatable, idk if it's about being introvert or not, but there are cases where people just find everything so unmanageable. The pressure, usually introvert prefer calm environments, they don't like to talk much but they like to look around and hear... however they don't like any stressful situation in short, they want peace around. Otherwise, wanting to stay away coz of family pressure, was understandable. Tbh, I envy him that he can do that.... Thanks to it he was able to think properly. Sometimes even family of introverts fails to understand them. I can also relate how he jokes about kotoko being a trial for him while letting out his thoughts, we do that in order to lighten other's mood if it gets depressing, this helps the other person to be interested in our conversation and give us a break from our own depressing thoughts in a line.... it helps us to get back and continue further.... Also I can relate, how he repeats the same thing again. Idk if its an introvert thing, but personally I tend to do it, coz I couldn't assure myself of the fact that I'm repeating by saying it once. Saying it many times, provide a little reassurance to myself, but still not completely. It's like I'm telling myself I have to do this even though inner me really can't.... as you said it's like a defence system from our inner self.

Introverts are people who will get you to show the depths of your soul, even without exchanging a single thing about them. They believe in comforting people more than showing their vulnerabilities or inner real self, and getting comforted. But if they do, you cracked a hard nut tbh. That's extremely rare! If they did that with you, then that means you are extremely special to them or they trust you and find your company extremely comfortable.

Tbh it's energy draining for introverts and Also we really don't care about people much....or situation which requires us to socialise... more probably unless it's necessary, if it's in our control we try to avoid it as much as we can. Here it was still naoki's choice at the end... but he still chose to teach kotoko and appear for match. Tbh if I keep myself in nakoi's place, I would have wanted to spend time more alone then spending even the evening to teach someone after all that morning, afternoon interaction with people... 😅. This do shows he really enjoys her company.... and feel ntg like getting his energy drained xd, which is surely rare for any introvert to experience like that with someone.

As a Introvert i love this series, the things i want in love or how love should be done in my life. Just like Yesterday i can feel the boy is having a crush on me and i find it cute and he talks alot which is good but i don't really like talking so all i could do is agree with him nodding my head like that. I arrived home and he mentioned me in a video saying that he likes me, of course i got turn off and i rejected him. And now all i could think of him is not the same as my first impression on him. It was so fast that it make me think of him as a weird person and unattractive (not by face but personality).

Rewatching this drama again, I really appreciate the Taiwanese version, "It Started With A Kiss" especially the sequel "They Kiss Again" which is about their marriage. Joe Cheng (as Jiang Zhi Shu/Irie Naoki) brings such depth to the character as you can see how he changes & deals with his new emotions. Ariel Lin (as Yuan Xiang Qin/Kotoko) also is so impressive as she also gives her character more depth, you can see how she's growing & maturing. Mischievous Kiss (1 & 2) will always have a special place in my heart as this is the first version of Izaura Na Kiss, but the Taiwanese version is my favorite as it really shows the growth of BOTH characters. Thanks for reading.

Being an introvert can be quite hard for us to express our feelings. We tend to listen more but we don’t open up easily to others. It takes a longer process of time for us to really break our shells to others. Once we found the right person who can empathise with us, we will then start to communicate with them. Your explanation finally opens up my feelings as to why I love watching this drama. This may be the reason why I can finish watching all the seasons (unlike other dramas - I left unfinished). This drama has a special place in my heart. I’ll always come back to watch the drama again.

I think it must have been tremendously painful to live with the girl he wanted to marry while he pretended to not like her and desperately needed comfort but was also engaged to another girl. Talk about depressing! No wonder he lashed out at her.

His relationship with Sahoko was necessary because it showed us how he operates normally. He can behave well because he's studied what people are supposed to do and say, but he's not happy doing it because he doesn't feel the way he's acting. I think we can assume he's spent his whole life just imitating other people's social cues, and that's why when Kotoko is always catching him off-guard he genuinely does not know what to do or say. He's just been going by the textbook but the textbook has been taken away and for the first time he has the actual feelings--which he never did before--and no way to verbalize them. Kotoko teaches him to be genuine and shows him the contrast, how a life lived inauthentically can be externally perfect and still feel totally miserable. While with Kotoko everything tends to go wrong and even if he's frustrated he feels engaged in his life...rather than just like a puppet. We seem this theme echoed again when Sahoko and Matsumoto keep saying how being with him was fate because of the external circumstances (the almost-scripted meeting, the fact that all of their physical attributes and talents match). Yet, it's interesting that the beginning of the series refers to the same type of thing as being kicked off by misfortune rather than fortune and an event that ruins the inside workings of both Kotoko's and Irie's homes. It seems to point out that fate is not pretty nor is it neat, that it does with us what it likes. And sometimes things that are the best for us rearrange our lives and viewpoints in ways that actually aren't pleasant for us at all.

I agree with a lot of your assessment, yet I can't help thinking that his interest and curiosity with her piqued a little earlier than the love letter. My thought is that Kotoko, Jinko, and Satomi were well known around the entire class for their loud talking and bubbly personalities. Kotoko may have caught his attention just because she is very cute and noticable. That may be one of the reasons he stopped to pick up her test papers when she dropped them. As an introvert who doesn't like to make small talk with unnecessary people, why would he have taken the time to initiate a short conversation with her even if he ended up insulting her? He specifically asked her if she was in class F. I think he knew who she was before she gave him the letter. His interest only grew after he found out that she liked him and moved into his house.

The breadcrumb incident was very significant for them because if he didn't like her, he wouldn't care if there were breadcrumbs all over her face and hair. Naoki removing the breadcrumb shows that he notices her and cares about what his " territory" looks like. He wants to continue to look at her, and the breadcrumb gets in his way. He could have just asked her to remove it herself, but he wanted to initiate the contact instead.

Naoki's comment at the end of this segment to KinChan reminded me of the interaction of another time Naoki was extremely jealous of Keita in season 2. Keita tells Naoki that he won't go after Kotoko anymore. What does Naoki do? He puts on his arrogant face and says to Keita, " So you accepted the fact that you can't compete with her strong feelings for me. Too bad it took you so long." Keita calls him conceited for that response, and Naoki like in this segment just walks off. It's another incident of Naoki reminding a suitor for Kotoko that she likes him the best, so back off!

Saying "i don't want to do something like that with you. " to Matsumoto about kissing her is a lot stronger statement saying "I have never regarded you in a romantic way and never will". Matsumoto may have thought that she had had a shot with Naoki because he went on that date with her to the movies. She didn't realize that he only went with her because he thought it would make Kotoko jealous, because he thought that she was having a relationship with Sudo-San. Matsumoto should have seen Naoki's committment to Kotoko after Naoki grabbed Kotoko and ran off after a dangerous situation transpired instead of Matsumoto. He really wanted that date to have been with Kotoko instead of Matsumoto. He even implies that Kotoko is his girl by only calling her by her first name with no honorifics. Matsumoto was always addressed by him as Matsumoto-San even though they took classes together, played in the tennis club together, and worked in the restaurant together. We can never fault Matsumoto for not trying her best to be Naoki's love interest, but Naoki's heart was already taken in high school by Kotoko way before their first kiss on the steps at graduation. He just didn't want to admit it to Kotoko and his mother.
