This is exactly the reason why for naoki kotoko is incomparable to anyone. Because she doesn't just love him for his superficial and good attributes. But also accepted him for him. Flaws and all. He found someone who understands and accepts him for who he is and that's the reason why he fell in love. He found that one single person in the world who loved him for both his flaws and strengths and she never tried to change him for having his undesirable traits. He understands and accepts him and just loved him the way she knows how. And that touches his heart. That instead to formally date her he asks for her hand in marriage right away. He was that sure that no other woman can get to his heart the way she did. That's why when kotoko said he won him over with his impeteous pestering and approach he laughs at the thought because it was not true. He won him over with her understanding and her heart to accept him wholeheartedly despite witnessing his not so desirable traits.

The fact that this channel probably made mischievious kiss gain more popularity and a fandom for ppl that havent seen it even after airing like a decade ago . Thank u for these videos and how ure still posting!

I am amazed on how you determine all of these characteristics of his but I am more amazed on how yuki (naoki's portrayer) and the director of this drama made it so smooth and perfect where all of their viewers are free to feel the drama as if they were there hahahaha

He must've really respected her opinions because after the fight with his parents he listened to her even after she "sided" with his parents for him to know that she also understood what he was going through...most people only would have listened up to the one point of view instead of her understanding both sides.

31:56 this one I think is Naoki's way of indirectly confessing to her. He could probably know that he love her but Kotoko thinks different because on what she just heard when the family were fighting. That is why Naoki stopped her to say that he wanted to become a doctor because it was her who inspired him and basically told him to become one

This series always reminds me of my first luv which is just ended in one side but I love to watch this series again and again because the luv which I didn't get in reality that can be watched in this story .... I feel so happy that I watching the video after a long time..... I had completed this series in all the languages even though same script but different vibes ....I love this thank you for posting to realize our goal when we are in confusion....

I love episode when Naoki get slapped from his mom. Why? Because i can see how Kotoko "stand" for Naoki and his parents. Kotoko said something good, even not impartial. And Naoki more open with her. He is genius but low EQ. Kotoko and her dad so close. So she take her self as person who close with parent ( even her dad is single parent), and how her dad think about her and future. Naoki maybe rich, stable, his parent always there, but he never get close with his parent. Even his parent always make path for him. It doesnt mean, Naoki careless and not love his parent, but he just want be himself. Yes the reason he need Kotoko, he need someone who can understand him, and accept his shortcoming. Kotoko perfect for it.

I know exactly how Naoki feels being pressured by the parents. My parents forced me to study law but then had the audacity to say "what do you think?" I wanted to just do film and they just scolded me for it. They then had the nerve to say that I love doing law to other people when I despise learning it. Everybody around me wants me to do law and work in a law firm and it just kills your motivation to do anything else. To make matters worst is that they had the nerve to ask me what I'm thinking. Like idk, since you know me so much, why don't you tell me what I'm thinking.

Relate. I have been told all my life to be a teacher. Because my mom was one. She forced me ( till now ) to take the profession she once take. Hoping for me to take after her. But i wanted to become a romance novelist and study mascommunication or at best maybe AB English because it's somehow close to what i aspire to be but they just wouldn't let me. They gave me an ultimatum. To be a teacher or to not finish school at all. I choose to the latter and decided to work at the age of 19. And now i am already 23 years old running 24 this april and i am still pressured by them to take that damn course.

I love how you showcase why this show is so touching. This scene has huge significance in the series as its the reason Naoki will confess after a while that he neads Kotoko. I now want to rewatch the entire show with your comentery on the side. Although i also have a hate love relationship with this scene as its depth makes Naoki's action afterwards (the engagement saga) so frustrating to me.

His relationship with Sahoko was necessary because it showed us how he operates normally. He can behave well because he's studied what people are supposed to do and say, but he's not happy doing it because he doesn't feel the way he's acting. I think we can assume he's spent his whole life just imitating other people's social cues, and that's why when Kotoko is always catching him off-guard he genuinely does not know what to do or say. He's just been going by the textbook but the textbook has been taken away and for the first time he has the actual feelings--which he never did before--and no way to verbalize them. Kotoko teaches him to be genuine and shows him the contrast, how a life lived inauthentically can be externally perfect and still feel totally miserable. While with Kotoko everything tends to go wrong and even if he's frustrated he feels engaged in his life...rather than just like a puppet. We seem this theme echoed again when Sahoko and Matsumoto keep saying how being with him was fate because of the external circumstances (the almost-scripted meeting, the fact that all of their physical attributes and talents match). Yet, it's interesting that the beginning of the series refers to the same type of thing as being kicked off by misfortune rather than fortune and an event that ruins the inside workings of both Kotoko's and Irie's homes. It seems to point out that fate is not pretty nor is it neat, that it does with us what it likes. And sometimes things that are the best for us rearrange our lives and viewpoints in ways that actually aren't pleasant for us at all.

Being an introvert can be quite hard for us to express our feelings. We tend to listen more but we don’t open up easily to others. It takes a longer process of time for us to really break our shells to others. Once we found the right person who can empathise with us, we will then start to communicate with them. Your explanation finally opens up my feelings as to why I love watching this drama. This may be the reason why I can finish watching all the seasons (unlike other dramas - I left unfinished). This drama has a special place in my heart. I’ll always come back to watch the drama again.

37:21 When she exposed the 2nd picture his mom gave her, she didn’t betray Naoki, because she had no pact with him, he bargained for the return of one picture and she gave it to him and didn’t make any promises beyond that. Now he is creating a pact with her over this inside knowledge he gave her, a test. And he is keeping her hope alive because of what he told his parents about their choice; but, it just so happens they’ve both made the same choice and he wanted to tell her that in code, and then give her a knife to stab him in the back so he can be sure. He needs a confidant not some one who will run to his mother every time she gains some inside knowledge.
