I just slowed the playback and worked great.

If you really think about it, Kotoko is the only one who really listens to Naoki. She may not understand what he is saying but she always asks him what he thinks not just assuming he’s okay with it because he’s quiet.

I think that's one of the main reasons he fell for her he feels heard when he talks to her she sees more than a smart and handsome boy even though she never understands where he comes from she gives him the best advice she can

This is why Naoki is so comfortable confiding to her about his decisions. Who did he tell why he moved out? Why he didn't tell his family where he lived? And most importantly, who did Noaki tell FIRST about what profession he wanted to enter? It was Kotoko. He was in love with her before he even knew what that was. Just as Machitsuki's analysis on Noaki's POV, why else would he, an introvert, tell her, his deepest inner most feelings? Because Noaki trusts her implicitly. Why would he allow Kotoko, an outsider, enter his inner circle? Because she's the center of that very circle. Every decision affects his future with Kotoko. He would never admit that to her during that LONG walk to the train station, but he gave it away when she asked Noaki when he decided to go into medicine and he answered just now.

As a person who was and still in the same position as Naoki, I truly understand him. My parents also have always been asking me to take over their business(tho not big as Naoki dad's) since I was really young. Like Naoki's dad, they told me they would support my choice, but in fact they are guilt tripping me and brainwashing me into thinking that Taking over their business is the ONLY FUTURE I could have. I felt like there's a really heavy lock chained around my leg!!! There were times I get so stressed that I wanna run away from home. But I don't have enough guts as Naoki and still can't break free from those chains. ... I also think the reason Naoki doesn't have big aspiration is not only because he is a genius but mainly because of his parents. They were not giving Naoki much options since he was young.He grew up listening how he should take over their business and it could have somehow stuck in his head that he had never try to rebel that idea until Kotoko comes into his life. He has never thought about what he could do with his life except from the option his parents had given him, thus he has no dreams.

I have the luck of being able to decide on my own about my future and love life, ofc my parents tried to influence me but unlike Naoki, I do have a dream. I remember telling my parents that I can't decide for my future in one night. So, if my parents were to "ask me what I think about the company" I wouldn't argue with them but cut the conversation with those words, I can't decide for my future in one night, and leave... plus, he had time enough? he was what, 21, 22.. most people don't know what they really want to do at that age. Even if I understand Naoki's reaction, he could've be less rude or speak his mind as soon as possible. He could've say "I don't know yet" when his father "asked" the first time and leave..anyway, he has been hiding all that anger for years, all that pressure and expectations, his mother invading his privacy and everyone only noticing his IQ without caring about his feelings and thoughts. I bet Kotoko was the only one who saw him as who he is, a nice and cute boy with too much on his shoulders and a little of eq. She may not be that smart but she emphazised with him and helped him a lot without noticing. She heard him and was there for him, he's lucky to have someone like Kotoko by his side. I love Naoki xd

The different thing about the parenting between Aihara and Irie are, Irie has set everything for their sons. They are did everything to make their son not tired about future. Solely just for their sons comfort in every condition. Meanwhile Aihara always listening what daughter wants. But sometimes Aihara wants his daughter listening him too but still respect with decision his daughter. Never meddling, if his daughter not asked him. But he would meddling if something wrong or danger would be happen to his daughter.
