He never lets her moved on from him completely. He has proven that on multiple occasions. Though he's not so sure over a lot of things after her existence in his life. He's logical enough to understand at this point that she can't bare her having unnecessary misunderstandings with her

In the previous Japanese series I found that Kotoko was a good drawer so I secretly wanted her to have a career based on her talent and skills, which was in art like illustrator or something, not having a career based on someone she loved. I just wanted her to have an identity

Naoki actually became a doctor due to Kotoko's suggestion as well. But you're right; I wish she had a special talent for something (beyond making good coffee).

I really love the detail where when Matsumoto arrived he purposely distance himself off Matsumoto and gets closer to kotoko while ayako is explaining of her intentions of visiting the school. Plus he's intently looking at her in most parts of the conversation patiently waiting for his cue to explain his side. He made sure he understands the misunderstanding by stating why he moved out and that is to figure things out about life alone. I understood him at that aspect because i know he wanted to set his goals and ambitions straight up so he can give kotoko a good life in the future. He went to college with her for hopes of him finding his dream but so far the most interesting thing that happened was his unwavering feelings and the torment of letting her know his intentions.

The 3rd-hand embarrassment always hits me hard🤦🏽‍♀️

He's intently looking at Kotoko to make sure that she is understanding all of this. It may not be obvious to his consciousness, but she serves as an anchor for him. At a time when he doesn't know what his purpose in life is, career wise, one thing he is always sure of is that he can rely on Kotoko to love him and comfort him. If Kotoko doesn't believe that he's tutoring Matsuomoto's sister, he might lose the only thing he can be sure of emotionally for him, which is Kotoko.

It's very interesting what you mentioned about Naoki's lack of using honorifics when addressing Kotoko. She uses them for him, his little brother, parents, and friends always, but most people don't use them for her. Is that because they don't respect her because of her lack of intelligence? And why does she continue to refer to Naoki as Irie-Kun after they are married??

The reason why she refers to his last name when calling naoki was answered on the sequel of the drama. It was during their honeymoon at Okinawa. They met an annoying honeymoon couple who had an eye for naoki. There's a scene where they were drinking wine and kotoko already had a few drinks and was basically drunk. Mari Chan ( the one who wanted naoki's attention ) asks kotoko why she still addresses her own husband by his last name. Does that mean 😊 they weren't that close to each other? She even added a tease that it's understandable knowing how she forced herself into the marriage which made naoki laugh. She replied that she is just used to calling him by his last name and somehow can't seem to loose the habit.
